Chapter Two: Josan`ne Akadi

Kurama walked along the murky river on the next night. The moon was only half-full, but it allowed him enough light so he could see where he was going. Not that it mattered much, with his youkai blood he could see in the dark as well as he did in the light. It may have been a beautiful night, but it was not a peaceful night. The air around Kurama was tense, as if in respect and anticipation for the anger that was boiling inside of him… His mother’s new ‘friend’ brought out the strength and power of the youkai who shared his body, his very soul… Kurama wanted to kill the man, wanted to see the scarlet spill of his blood, wanted to feel it run over his hands! Swirls of his power started whipping around him, spiraling and swirling until he was enflamed within the power, and then Kurama transformed into Yoko… his demon form.

Flash back—Kurama’s POV-----

I was sitting in my mothers pink chair in her living room, and my mother was talking to her new ‘friend’. I knew he was just being courteous to her, because he knew my stepfather had died, and left my mother a lot of money. Damn bastard… I hated the man. Why couldn’t my mother see through his mask?! He voiced it was time he left, and I smirked. It was about time…I thought back to the other night. Hiei… My mind wandered off, and then I was snapped back into reality, as my mother’s friend approached me.

“Walk me home, boy.” Josan`ne Akadi` ordered me, and then flashed a charming smile at my mother. “Wouldn’t want to walk alone.”

“Mother… I--” I started frowning when she interrupted.

“Of course. Shuuichi, will you please walk Mr. Akadi` home?” She asked sweetly, then turned her eyes back to Mr. Akadi`. “He’s such a sweet boy…” She started towards the kitchen.

“I would but… What about Sara? She will be at my apartment soon…” I stop, as my mother flashes me a hurt look. “All right mother, I shall walk the man home.” I would do anything to keep my mother happy, she’s done so much for me… Hell, the only reason I was dating Sara was to make my mother happy. I took a deep breath, then glanced at the man. He wasn’t that old, he had piercing blue eyes, and shoulder length blue-black hair. In addition, he had an attitude that made me want to kill him. I narrowed my eye’s slightly as I watched Josan`ne thoroughly run his eye’s over me. Then his eye’s rose to meet mine, and I wanted to rip them out.

“Come on boy… I don’t want to be out too late.” He purred with a lethal smile.

“Wear a coat honey; it’s a little cool outside tonight.” My mother called to me from the kitchen.

“Yes, mother.” I said, then turned, and went to my old room, in which she kept for me, for whenever I returned there. I was surprised to see Hiei sitting on the window ledge.

“Fox, we need to talk.”

I smirked at the name. “I will after I walk Mr. Akadi` home.” With that, I snatched my red jacket off the back of a desk chair, then disappeared down the stairs. “Let’s go, Mr. Akadi`.” I said stiffly. He smiled, and together we walked out the door. In silence we walked down the street, every so often, we passed a streetlight, but as the silence stretched… so did my last nerve. We had just about reached his house, when he all of the sudden jerked me in a dark alleyway.

With a hand gripping my throat, he laughed… “Your mother say’s you’re a sweet boy… Shall I find out?” He made a move to kiss me, and I raised my hand to my hair, and removed a rose. I was going to kill him, then his hand that wasn’t on my throat grasped my wrist and slammed it against the wall. “I wouldn’t do that demon--boy…” He sneered, and my eye’s felt like they were going to pop out of my head. “Yes, I know all about you… and if you kill me… your mother will find out who and what you are… Kurama. Your poor mother will be devastated you murdered her son, and she will hate you. You’ll make your poor mother so unhappy…” He hissed. Then he added, “I’ve told someone else, so if I’m not home in…”He paused as he let my wrist go to check his watch. “Twenty-eight minutes… your mother’s going to get some disturbing news.” He laughed spitefully then said, “But if you don’t stop struggling… she might find out anyway…”

I narrowed my eye’s to slit’s in a heated wave of pure anger, but allowed the rose to fall harmlessly from my hand. “Damn yo--” He cut my word’s short by slamming his mouth down, savagely upon mine. I closed my eyes, and tried not to throw up, but then he pressed his body tightly against mine, and my eyes snapped open. The youkai in me had woken from the anger that cursed through my body, and I fought hard to keep control of myself. I fought myself… so I didn’t kill the bastard!

“Kurama having a little trouble?” A voice asked, just when Josan`ne was about to undo the top of my pant’s. With a snarl, he jumped away from me, and turned to face the intruder or should I say intruders? Yusuke and Kuwabara stood about five feet away from us.

“This isn’t over, you will be mine!” He hissed into my ear, then turned and started to walk away, but Yusuke grabbed him, and held him up in the air. “I would let me go, punk! Shouldn’t he boy?” Josan`ne laughed as he called out to me. I moved back into the faint street light slowly with the molten amber eye’s of my youkai form glowing with anger.

“Let the bastard go.” I said in a low, cold tone, then turned and walked silently away…

End of flashback~~

Kurama now walked along the river in his true demon form, up ahead he saw a small group of deer, and his smile was that of a predator. Normally he would have walked away, or his anger would have dimmed, but not this time… his anger was just too strong. Josan`ne dared to ruin everything he held dear… his mothers love for her son, his pride… With a cold smirk, he began to approach his prey. The deer sensing danger took off in fear, but Yoko Kurama chased them. It wasn’t too long before he caught one… Yoko then killed the deer ruthlessly pretending it was Josan`ne he was slaughtering. He prayed no one dared to come after him, because with the heavy scent of blood, and with hatred burning in his heart… He could be extremely dangerous…

Hiei’s POV-----
I ran as fast as I could to find Kurama. I had been perched in the tree right outside his window when Yusuke and Kuwabara spotted me, and told me everything. Now I raced for the river, I knew he would be around there. He usually went there when he was distressed, or frustrated about something. I just about reached the river when the strong scent of blood reached my nose… it was mingled in with Kurama’s scent. I stopped running. Not far in front of me was a sight I will never forget.
Kurama was on his knees and what used to be a deer was scattered all around him. Crimson blood covered his hands and mouth, and dripped from his chin…The blood stained his clothes, and dampened his hair. He was in demon form, and rage was flowing off him in violent waves. Never had I ever seen Kurama act like this… All of the sudden Kurama realized I was here, and slowly raised his golden eye’s up to look at me. “Yoko…” I whispered, had Kurama really been this upset… that he gave Yoko freedom? His heat-filled golden eye’s glared into my crimson ones. For the first time in my life I was scared… scared of the Fox, the very one I had wanted…

End POV ----------------------------------------

Yoko grinned darkly, and slowly stood. “Hiei, have you come to play?” Yoko’s tone was pitched so low, it was almost hard to make out. Hiei took a step back.

“Yoko, Kurama… we need to talk.” Hiei said trying to keep the arrogance, he was known for in his voice. Yoko laughed softly, and began to advance towards Hiei.

“So… talk.” Yoko purred. Yoko had been angry with Kurama for not claiming the younger demon. Now he may have a chance to justify the situation. Kurama could not lock him in the soul now he had already let him out. A malevolence smile settled on his blood splattered face.

“I—I want to talk about a man named Josan`ne Akadi`. I believe you—” Hiei started to say, but then Yoko had him pinned against a tree with one of his bloodied, clawed hand’s on Hiei’s throat.

“For you to even mention that bastards name it better be really important!” Yoko hissed, all hint of playing vanished. His nails bit into Hiei’s flesh causing blood to trickle down wards. Hiei gasped slightly at the pain. He wrapped his hands around Yoko’s wrist trying to pull his hand away; failing he quickly began to speak.

“I’ve seen him following your Mother… and watching you… following you…” Yoko’s nail’s dug in a little more and Hiei winced, then continued. “Today he saw me; He laughed and said he had a plan to get my ‘little Fox’. Then he just disappeared, so he isn’t human.” Hiei stopped again… this time he gazed into Yoko’s heated eyes. Lighting almost seemed to flash within them but Hiei was getting so he couldn’t breathe… “Let me go… now!” Hiei stated as coldly as he could.

Yoko blinked, and saw the blood, the very injury he had just inflicted upon Hiei in his anger. He had the desire to lick the blood away, and shivered at the image of him doing just that. Suddenly, there was a cry within his mind. ‘Yoko! No!’ Kurama called out, then with complexity forced Yoko back into the imprisonment of his soul. Yoko didn’t fight him this time, however, next time… He would have the fire demon. Now that both the demon and Kurama were one again, he quickly let Hiei go, and Hiei fell down gasping for air. Hiei gently touched his neck, and then looked at his fingertips. They had blood on them! In anger, Hiei snapped his eye’s up, and starred… into green-gold eyes. He watched as the fox’s eye’s once more became that bottomless emerald color he could drown in before he lost his temper.

“What has come over you? I know what he has done to you, threatened to do to your Mother, but to turn on me? To call upon Yoko?!” Hiei screamed, and guilt filled Kurama. The fox fell down on his knees in front of Hiei.

“Please… I’m sorry.” Kurama said. “Let me see what I’ve done to you.”

“Don’t worry about it fox.” Hiei said, and then made a move to stand, but Kurama placed a hand on Hiei’s shoulder, and held him down... Eyeing each other they had a short contest of wills, ending in a huffed; “Hn.” from the fire youkai. Kurama with a slight nod of thanks then carefully examined Hiei’s neck. He trailed his fingertips lightly over the wounds he had inflicted, and frowned. He then took a seed seemingly out of thin air, and rubbed it between his hands for a moment so nothing, but what appeared to be a light green oil remained. Kurama looked into Hiei’s eyes with sympathy.

“This may hurt a little, but it’ll heal you immediately.” Kurama then proceeded to wrap his hand’s gently around Hiei’s neck. Hiei moaned slightly, because it really did burn. Then it was over, but Kurama did not remove his hands. Instead, he tilted Hiei’s face upwards towards his. “Earlier you said that Josan`ne called me your little fox… what did he mean?” Hiei remained silent for a long time, but after a pause, he said he didn’t have any idea. Kurama frowned, followed by his eye’s narrowing slightly. Hiei’s face had grown warmer as if he was blushing. “Hiei… why did you come to see me last night? Did you just want to see me?”

“You told me to forget it, so I did.” Hiei said too quickly and Kurama smiled.

“You are lying.”

“No, honest… I—” but Hiei was interrupted.

“Let’s find out… my way…” Kurama said leisurely, then he pressed his lip’s down upon Hiei’s. Hiei’s eye’s widened in response… Was Kurama kissing him again? Surrendering Hiei closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around Kurama’s neck. This was his dream… what he wanted. Like yesterday... He loved Kurama’s warmth… his fire… the feel of the fox’s lips, softly pressed to his… Kurama pulled back a little, and smirked. Now they both had blood on them, Hiei had even been able to taste it in Kurama’s mouth. “Told you, you were lying. You’ve forgotten nothing.” Hiei dropped his arms to his sides and frowned.

“Hn.” Then using his speed to his advantage he took off… But, even so, Kurama’s beautiful sounding laughter rang in his ears…
