Scene 19
Scene 19 -------- Hiei’s Suite
* The Koorime isn’t surprised anymore to find some of his mates there when he enters. After closing the door he turns and just gives them his best glowering glare for a couple moments.
Hiei- D--- it, this idea you’ve got ingrained in your brains that you’re all always pissing me off.. is starting to piss me off!
* The females all lower their eyes. Hiei sighs and gets himself under control.
Hiei- I wasn’t out there because of anything any of you did.. I just had to get out of this fortress and think.
* He goes over closer to them, reading their various thoughts.
Hiei- I understand why you must miss her..
Lily- We can’t understand how you can’t.
* The Kitsune looks back up at him.
Hiei- I told you. I did what was best for her and her baby.. I just want all of you to try to let me deal with it.. and trust my decision.
(#) Trinka- You’re going to release her.
* The sadness in his mute mate’s words is unmistakable. Hiei glances toward the young demoness, then raises a hand to rub his forehead.
Hiei- Alright, that’s enough. I mean it this time. I’ll hear no more about it. I want everyone out.. except you, ‘Ris.
* Hiei steps aside as his females leave past him obediently, some murmurring apologies. Only Lily pauses to glance down at him, then she leaves brushing her tail up his front as she starts off. Hiei gets ahold of the fluffy appendage and strokes it.
Hiei- Lily,.. please trust me.
* Lily lowers her eyes a moment, then leans and catches Hiei with a brief, affectionate kiss.
Lily- Always, Love.
* When Hiei releases her tail she continues out closing the door behind her. Hiei looks at Sarista who is still relaxing on the couch. She pats the cushion beside her.
Sarista- Please don’t be angry because we sent them.
* Hiei takes the offer to sit close to her and she wraps her arms around him.
Hiei- They’ve gone back to their own lives.. Now I can get back to mine.
Sarista- Will you really be able to forget her so easily?
Hiei- ‘Ris,.. Right now she thinks I’m just a friend that agreed to give her a child .. with no strings attached.. Some Humans will do this.
* Sarista studies Hiei’s profile. He leaves his thoughts open to her as he gets distracted on memories of Staci. When Sarista leans to place her head on his shoulder he closes his eyes.
Hiei(Quietly)- I never said it was easy, ‘Ris.. I did it to spare her any further exposure to.. me.. To the ruthless b------ I’ll have to be at times with this new position.
Sarista- When you release her completely.. she’ll forget all about you.
Hiei- Hn. Good.
Sarista- But you won’t be able to forget her.
Hiei- I never had a problem.. seperating myself from anyone.
* The Fire demoness sighs and sits back up.
Sarista- That was the old, unattached you.
* The Koorime turns his eyes to look at her.
Sarista- You’ve changed since you took over the pack.. You know it as well as we do.
* Hiei stands up away from her.
Hiei- You really think I’m all that different?
Sarista- Don’t you?
* Hiei grunts and starts to move away.
Sarista- But what of the child? Will you forget it also? Will you abandon it the same way you were?
* Now the jaganshi stops and lowers his eyes. Sarista realizes that she has touched on what’s been bothering him the most. She could continue to use this, but instead she stands and moves to embrace him from behind.
Sarista(Quietly)- I’m sorry.. You told us not to bring it up again.. I should be punished.
Hiei- He’ll know.. It won’t take the child long to figure out that he’s.. different.. But if I’d allow him to be born here.. ‘Ris, you know what happens to halfbreeds here. What if I happen to be too busy to be around to protect him? Don’t you understand that?
Sarista- I.. never considered..
Hiei- Hn.
* Sarista sighs.
Sarista- Perhaps if you plant a reasonable explanation in Staci’s mind with your third eye..
Hiei- I can’t have anymore contact with her.
Sarista- What? But the baby will need your energy at least until he’s born.. Or he’ll be born with an inherant..
* Hiei works loose from her.
Hiei- I knew you’d figure it out.
* Sarista stands silently watching Hiei move toward his bedroom. He pauses at the door to glance back at her.
Hiei- I’ll just consider it.. family tradition.
* He feels her twinge of sadness before closing himself off and entering the bedroom. When he leaves the door open Sarista hesitates then accepts the unspoken invitation, not willing to just leave him alone right now.

Sorry, only one scene today. I’ve been having back problems due to my arthritis. I struggled through getting this one up to keep on my schedule. Please be patient with me.
