Scene 19 ---------- Middle Of The Ravine


* Hiei catches up to Klarice when she falls to her hands and knees. He lands and hears her sobbing as he approaches.


Hiei- Klarice,..

Klarice- Go away! Don't touch me!


* Hiei stops in his tracks. For a brief moment he is reminded of the last time he seen Yukina.


Klarice- You never wanted.. us.. in the first place!


* When Hiei doesn't respond Klarice looks up at him. The expression of sadness and the pang of guilt she feels through their bond makes Klarice swallow and drop her eyes again.


Klarice- Why.. Why did you.. come chasing after me if..?

Hiei- You have the wrong impression, Icy.


* Hiei continues over and sits down beside her. Since he keeps his eyes averted he doesn't notice how much pain Klarice is in.


Hiei- I told you before.. I never believed that I was.. meant to be a Father.

Klarice- Well y-you.. are.. going to be one..


* Now Hiei looks at her. He starts to realize that the pain he's feeling from her isn't all emotional.


Klarice- And very.. very soon.

Hiei- 'Rice?


* The Ice hybrid glares at him as she clutches her middle.


Klarice- I'm.. in labor.. d--- it! - Ahh!!


* Hiei gathers her up and flits back to the main cave as quickly as he can. All the others in the clearing come alert immediately when he lands and Klarice cries out. Trinka zooms over followed closely by Celestia.


(#) Trinka- Carry her into the cave, Aunt Cel.


* Hiei carefully transfers Klarice into Celestia's arms. He then stands, staring at the cave entrance as the other males move to join him.


Troiyoku- She's in labor?

Hiei- Hn.. I was too wrapped up in my own d--- dreamworld to.. notice right away..


* Hiei grimaces as he feels the phantom pains tearing through him. He also feels his natural heat begin to rise. Silis touches his shoulder.


Silis- Maybe you should use the jagan to block..

Hiei- No! I-I deserve to.. feel her pain..

Gamaru- Master,..

Hiei- Go away! Uhhnn!!


* Hiei sinks down to one knee, clasping at his own middle.


Hiei- Leave me! - Now!


* Gamaru and Silis quickly move back. But Troi and Minoro look at each other. When Hiei gasps and falls forward on one arm Minoro carefully kneels beside him.


Minoro- You don't have to..

Hiei- Yes! I do! - Don't you.. get it?! I-I never.. believed..

Minoro- Shh.


* He reaches out and pulls Hiei against his broad chest, ignoring the immense heat radiating from the Koorime.


Minoro- Don't say anything more of that.


* Troiyoku tilts his head, getting the strange feeling that Minoro knows more than he's telling. Before he can question, though, they all feel four familiar auras approaching. In a moment, the Lynx brothers and Dagon appear all around them on full alert. When they find no battle they all look down at Hiei when he cries out again. Troi looks at them.


Habataro- Who attacked him?

Kumataro- Which way did they run?

Troiyoku- It's not like that, guys.


* Hiei is now in near constant pain. He still has no desire to buffer the agony, though.


Minoro- His mate Klarice is having her baby in the cave.

Hiei- Ahh! Th-this pain will.. kill her..!


* Habataro quickly falls to one knee beside Hiei.


Habataro- Master, you must break your connection to..

Hiei- No..!


* Hiei shakes his head as he spasms and heaves in Minoro's arms.


Troiyoku- We've already tried..


* Hiei reaches out and grasps the front of Habataro's vest.


Hiei- I.. need to.. feel this.. My-my first..

Habataro- Alright, I understand.. But you won't be able to..


* Hiei moans, his eyes roll shut, and he slumps forward. Minoro sighs.


Minoro- He's out.


* Habataro stands and takes a couple steps toward the cave until Coutaro and Troiyoku stop him.


Coutaro- No, Hab.. You know better..

Habataro- If her pain was enough to make him pass out..

Troiyoku- I know you're worried, we all are. But my Mother and sister will do all they can in there, sir.


* Habataro nods. He then moves back beside Hiei and sits down.


Habataro- He came to me when he felt my distress.. I'm not going to leave him.


* Kuma and Cou both nod and sit down, also.


Kumataro- If you stay, I'm staying.

Coutaro- Same here.


* Gamaru and Silis exchange glances, then look at Dagon. The Crow shrugs and sits down, too. Troiyoku sits down close to Coutaro. Habitually, the Lynx leans and gives Troi a brief kiss. Gamaru is about to say something when Troiyoku glares up at him.


(#) Troiyoku- You know Master granted us the same priviledge he granted you two.. Don't you dare.


* Gamaru half glances toward Coutaro again, then takes Silis' hand and leads him away to relax in the Lookout alcove. All they can do now is wait.
