Scene 18
Scene 17 ---------------- Very Early The Next Morning
* Hiei opens the bedroom door. When he finds Dagon awake on the couch, looking deep in thought, he studies the Crow a moment before clearing his throat to get his attention. Still getting no response the Koorime tilts his head a moment.
Hiei- Dagon.
* Dagon flinches and turns to look at him then stands at attention quickly, dropping the book he was reading onto the couch.
Dagon- Sir, you have some very interesting reading material here.
Hiei- Hn.. The old b---- thought I needed some culture.. I need your help.
* Dagon follows Hiei into the room and over to the bed.
Hiei- Can you lift her? I put her out so I could return her to Human World with less hassle.
* Dagon shrugs and gathers Staci up into his arms.
Hiei- Easy!
Dagon- I got her.
* Hiei makes sure, then turns and opens the portal with the device Koenma had given him yesterday.
Hiei- Follow me.
* When he steps through and ends up right in the middle of the Shrine’s Common room he steps aside so Dagon can enter. In a couple moments Yukina enters from the kitchen, followed closely by Kuwabara.
Yukina- Hiei.
Kuwabara- You found her!
* Kuwabara starts forward until he notices Dagon. He skids to a stop with an ‘eep’.
Kuwabara- Karasu!
* Hiei pinches the bridge of his nose when Kuwabara summons his Spirit Sword. Dagon rolls his eyes then looks down at Hiei.
Dagon- Do I really look that much like that freak, Master?
Hiei- I told you to go red.
* Dagon tilts his head thoughtfully.
Dagon- I think you also said something about gelding at that time, too.
* Hiei grunts, then waves a hand dismissively as he turns his attention back to Kuwabara. The Human's brow is twitching fitfully at their brief conversation.
Hiei- This isn’t Karasu, Oaf. He’s one of my subordinates.. Put that stupid sword away and come get her.
* Kuwabara releases his sword, but still approaches Dagon cautiously.
Kuwabara- Well, he looks enough like that creep to give me the willies.
* Dagon eases Staci into the redhead’s arms. When Kuwabara leaves to return her to her room Hiei looks up at Dagon.
Hiei- Return now. I’ll follow in a moment.
* Dagon looks toward Yukina.
Dagon- Is that your..?
Hiei- Go, bird.
* Dagon bows quickly to her then hurries back through the portal. Hiei hesitantly looks at Yukina.
Yukina- I’m glad you found her safe, brother.
Hiei- It was Yusuke that.. recovered her.
Yukina- I’ll be sure to thank him when I see him.
* Hiei starts to turn away.
Yukina- Congratulations on your new position. I can hardly believe that I’m the sister of one of the three Lords.
* Hiei lowers his eyes briefly. Yukina takes the opportunity to hurry forward and embrace him, afraid that he’ll flit away again.
Yukina- Hiei please.. I’m so sorry for how I..
* Kuwabara returns to the doorway and leans in it. He remains quiet as he watches until Hiei works away from Yukina.
Kuwabara- Man, you really put her out.
Hiei- Hn. She’ll remain that way until Yukina wakes her.. I had to do some.. rearranging of her memories so it’d be easier for her to stay here and be safe.
Yukina- Oh, Hiei.. What did you..?
Hiei- I’ve released her. She’ll only remember me now as a.. very good friend that she.. just decided to have a baby with.. Some Humans will do that.
* Yukina scowls and Hiei turns away from the disapproving look.
Hiei- Koenma’s lowered the barrier around Alaric.. Yomi’s probably already on his way.
Kuwabara- So you’re just gonna leave her?
Hiei- I intend to be here when the boy is born.. Just take good care of her and don’t lose her this time, Idiot!
* Hiei starts toward the portal. Kuwabara feels out what he senses coming from his former teammate.
Kuwabara- So you think Yomi will have a problem with you? Or are you just.. running from something you don’t know how to handle?
* Hiei stops, but keeps his face to the portal as he growls.
Hiei- Yukina, perhaps you can explain to your.. intended.. how dangerous Demon World truly is for Humans.. especially pregnant ones.. I don’t have the time.
* With that Hiei disappears into the swirling distortion. When it closes Kuwabara looks at Yukina. The demoness glances up at him then just leaves to go check on Staci. Kuwabara follows.
Kuwabara- Yukie, I’m confused as h---.. Is he being noble or stupid?
Yukina- Kazuma, I love you.
* She stops at Staci’s bedroom door and turns to look up at him.
Yukina- But if I ever hear you saying anything demeaning about him in front of Staci..
Kuwabara- You know I wouldn’t do that. I’m just trying to understand this mess.
Yukina- I’ll deal with you later.
* Yukina enters the room, sliding the shoji door closed behind her in Kuwabara’s face. The redhead gives a grunt of frustration and decides to return to the kitchen.
