Scene 17
Oh no, POH, there’s still a very big issue to resolve. The angst will continue now that I’ve made you all happy, lol.
**************
Scene 17 -------------- The Next Morning
* Yusuke and Kurama come down the sweeping marble stairs.
Yusuke- Man, I think this place is bigger than my own dump.
Kurama- Yusuke, your palace is hardly a dump.
Yusuke- It’s nothing but a giant stone pillar compared to this place.. And I still haven’t repaired the hole Dad made when he tried to eat me.
* They reach the bottom of the staircase and quiet when they notice Sarista and Lily looking out a large plateglass window. Both females glance toward them, then look at each other.
Lily- Do you think they’ll be able to talk to him?
* Kurama can feel Youko’s tail wag eagerly at the sound of Lily’s voice, but he mentally reprimands his demon side as he and Yusuke go over closer to them.
Kurama- If we can help in any way, we will try.
* The females look at the redhead. Yusuke nudges Kurama with a shoulder.
Yusuke- Woah. Down, Foxboy.
* Yusuke looks at Sarista and Lily. Kurama rolls his eyes in an unusual show of annoyance.
Yusuke- What’s wrong, ladies?
Sarista- Master Hiei’s out there in a tree.
Lily- He spent the whole night out there.
Kurama- Hmm.
Yusuke- Why would he be pulling his old seperation tactic? Everything with that mate and.. her kid was resolved, right?
Lily- The situation with Chevaux, yes, but..
Sarista- Lily.
* Lily looks at Sarista. The Fire demoness looks back out the window a long moment, then sighs.
Sarista- He has.. another mate that.. can’t be here with us..
Yusuke- You mean Staci?
* Lily’s tail sways rigidly as they both look at Yusuke again.
Lily- You know of her?
Yusuke- I’ve.. met her.. She’s a great kid.
Kurama- This is the one he returned to Human World. Correct?
Yusuke- Yeah. You know him and Humans.
Kurama- I recall your account of how she came to be mated to him.
* Yusuke motions.
Yusuke- Come on, Kurama. Let’s go see if we can shake him out of his tree.
Kurama- Yusuke, this really doesn’t concern us.
Sarista- But it is concerning us.
Lily- I haven’t seen him this aloof since he was first lured..
* Sarista gets ahold of Lily’s tail, silencing her.
Yusuke- Uh, yeah.. Right.. Come on, Red. Let’s at least go see if he’ll talk to us.
* Kurama gives the two demonesses a polite smile, trying not to let his eyes linger on the pretty black Kitsune any longer than necessary. He then follows Yusuke out of the main door.
Yusuke- You really need to get Youko in hand about that one, babe.
* Kurama scowls.
Kurama- Call me that again and I’ll string you up in a tree and leave you for the local vulture demons.
* The two continue on past the outer gate bantering good-naturedly. The guard on duty there just glances toward them unconcerned, being notified about their presence in his new Master’s palace. He returns his attention to his job of keeping watch.
