Scene 16
What happened? Did I do or say something wrong? Or is it just becoming too boring? Just curious. :o? Well, these are the last three scenes of this sequel. Should I continue?

Scene 16 -------------- The Fortress
* Hiei stands with his arms crossed. He looks over the backs of the passing clan of Turtle demons toward the large structure on the other side of the clearing. When the last Turtle finally creeps past on its peaceful way the Koorime motions and the pack moves into the clearing that stretches out in front of the fortress walls. Hiei comes to a stop again to stare across the well-manicured lawn toward the very large, imposing-looking, mossy-stoned structure. But it’s not the twenty-foot high, five-foot thick wall that completely surrounds the main castle. Nor is it the various well-windowed spired towers and turrets that stand even taller beyond that wall. What catches Hiei’s attention and gives him pause is the figure leaning in the opened gateway.
Hiei- What the h--- is he..?
* Habataro comes up beside him.
Habataro- Pretty strong aura on that guy.
Hiei- Get a life. He doesn’t impress me all that much.
Habataro- You know him?
Hiei- Unfortunately.
* Dagon swoops over from the wall to land beside them.
Dagon- Welcome to your new home, sir.
* Hiei pushes past the Crow demon, sets a scowl on his face, and continues across the yard. Sylk looks at Lily.
Sylk- So who is that guy? A challenger?
Lily- Not hardly. Hiei says his name is Koenma.
Sylk- Ko-.. Koenma? He knows King Enma’s son?
D’Tara- He knows him. But they’re not exactly the best of friends right now, I don’t think.
Celestia- It’s a long story. Maybe you’ll stick around long enough to find out this time.
* Sylk gives Celestia a quiet growl, then continues watching. Hiei is now glaring coldly up at the Teen Prince.
Hiei- I haven’t forgotten, d--- it!
Koenma- Hello to you, too.
* Hiei gives an annoyed grunt.
Koenma- So, is this where you’ll be living from now on?
Hiei- So what if it is?
Koenma- It’s a pretty impressive place.
Hiei- There better not be some d---ed party inside.
Koenma- No. Nothing like that for you. I know better than that.
Hiei- Then get out of here and let me settle my family in.
* Koenma glances past Hiei toward the group.
Koenma- Don’t you mean your pack?
* Hiei rolls his eyes, then looks back up at the Teen who is smirking behind his pacifier.
Hiei- You heard what I said.. They’re my family.. See all those brats running around the women? Those are my children.
Koenma- Don’t they complicate things for you now? Or have you changed your mind about claiming that..?
Hiei- No. For whatever reason, the b---- left it to me..
Koenma- She trusted you. Just like I do.
* Hiei continues to just stare up at Koenma. The Teen’s temple twitches nervously.
Hiei- I’ll start for Alaric in the morning.
* He continues watching the Prince suckle on his pacifier with a contemplative look. When Koenma finally nods and starts away Hiei is tempted to open his jagan as he gets an uneasy feeling.
Hiei- What aren’t you telling me?
Koenma stops, then turns to cast a nervous grin back toward him.
Koenma- It’s.. nothing you want to deal with right now..
Hiei- I hate surprises.
Koenma- Enjoy your evening.. I’ll deal with things until you get to Alaric.
* Koenma turns away and disappears through the slight rift that he opens up. Sarista comes up beside Hiei as the rift closes.
Sarista- A problem?
Hiei- Always is when he shows up lately.
* Just then Shironji poofs in, hovering beside Hiei in a knelt position.
Shironji- M’Lord, I have news.
* Hiei grunts and raises a hand.
Hiei- Give it to me later.
* His tone gives the Ninjini no room for argument so the imp bows aside. Hiei motions toward his pack and they continue on through the gate. Although he seems as stoic as ever, his mind is a bit distracted on what could be facing him at Alaric. The rest of the pack are too enamored by all the freshly-cleaned, regal-looking splendor that now surrounds them as the large doors are swung open for them. Dagon and Habataro exchange sneaky smirks when Hiei finally stops in the center of the cavernous entryway to look around.
Garnetia- D---.. I’ll get lost in this place.
* An echoing of footsteps attracts everyone’s attention to the grand dark marble staircase. When Hiei recognizes the figure that descends, then makes his way across the polished mahogany wood floor towards him he crosses his arms. Pterayu stops and spreads his wings a little as he bows deeply before the Jaganshi.
Pterayu- Master Hiei. Welcome, at last.
* Hiei looks toward Dagon with a quirked eyebrow.
Dagon- My cousin volunteered himself and his clan to be your.. um..
Pterayu- I’ll be your Head Butler, sir.. You also have cooks, maids, handymen, whatever else is needed..
Hiei- I thought there were only a handful of your clan left.
Pterayu- Whatever I have left are here to serve you.
* Hiei considers arguing for several moments, wondering about who's in charge of Matsua's old complex now. But then he realizes that he could just care less about that place anyway. He waves a hand in exasperated dismissal.
Hiei- Whatever. I’ll yell if I need anything.
Pterayu- Would you like me to show you around?
Hiei- Take care of my pack. Get them settled in so they can take care of their young.. Dagon, cats, help him see to them.
* Hiei turns to look at his pack.
Hiei- Don’t kill anybody.. unless necessary.
* They all watch him move away to do his own exploring. Sylk casts an inquisitive glance toward the others.
Sarista- He has a lot on his mind.. Let’s just settle in.
* The rest of the group all follow Pterayu back up the stairs to begin their tour. Hiei disappears down a darkened hall, exploring his new home with his jagan. He studies the various auras he feels and ‘watches’ them carrying out their various tasks. He comes to another staircase, not as grand as the other, that spirals upward. He decides to follow it. After going up about four flights he reaches the top and stops. He looks down the hallway he’s come to. One side is covered in various tapestries depicting wars and victorious armies celebrating unknown victories. The other is an expanse of polished dark wood railing gilded with gold accents. He moves to the railing and looks out over the grand entryway he’d been in a few moments before. ‘At one time I was only involved in raids on places like this’. Hiei notices that the balcony-like hallway leads in nearly a full circle all around the entryway, ending at a pair of wide double doors. Scanning beyond the doors with his third eye he learns that the throne room is beyond them. He gives a grunt and turns away to watch the last of his family disappear up the staircase on the other side of the entryway. He listens for a moment to their excited chattering as it fades into the heights of the floors above him. Slowly it begins to sink in. This place is his. The little dark shadow that was cast away from his birthplace, raised by thieves, grew accustomed to sleeping in trees, killing, and robbing just to merely survive alone in this harsh World. Now he’s actually the Lord of a third of it. Again he grunts 'Nothing better than a Govenor, actually'. This thought brings his mind to the other two regions. To his rival, turned teammate, then ultimately one of the few people he’s come to trust. To the other. A demon, turned human, that’s now Lord Yomi’s Second In Command. His thoughts are interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching him. He turns to face a younger version of Pterayu. The young male touches his chest and bows.
Young Demon- You would be Lord Hiei.
Hiei- I am.
Young Demon- I am Pteragela, Pterayu’s eldest son.
Hiei- Of course you are.
Pteragela- Would you care for me to show you to your private quarters, Master?
* The Koorime realizes that he’ll have plenty of time to explore.
Hiei- Hn. I do need to rest for the evening.
Pteragela- Please follow me, then, sir.
* Hiei takes a last look out over the entryway then follows the young Bat demon on around the balcony hall and through the double doors into the throneroom.
Pteragela- This will be your main viewing room.
Hiei- It’s a throneroom. I know what this room is used for, boy.
Pteragela- Ooshama used it to publicly humiliate any that..
Hiei- If you want to stay on my good side, you won’t mention that b------‘s name in my presence again.
* The young demon quickly bobs his head and motions toward a large door to the right side of the large room.
Pteragela- Your private living quarters is through that door, sir.
* Hiei nods and dismisses the boy. He takes a quick glance around the large, fancilly-decorated room, then settles his eyes on the large chair. It looks to be made out of solid gold. With a grunt he turns away and disappears through the door to the right. Once again he is hit by grandeur as he looks around the expansive luxury of this penthouse-type apartment. ‘D---.. Koenma’s whole office could fit into just this commonroom’. Hiei sighs and shakes his head, ‘This place is too d--- big’. He promptly closes his eyes, scans some more with his jagan, locates a more suitably-sized room, then leaves his private quarters to head for it.
