Scene 16
Scene 16 ------------ Three Hours Later
* After visiting Dagon, Pterrayu, and Barkolo to give them the same invitation to the impending showdown Hiei arrives back in front of the barrier. He stands stoicly on top of another large boulder to stare down at the two groups of demons that are knelt around two burning piles of sticks. The odor from the incense mingled in the flames tickles Hiei’s nose. When this makes him scowl the Rats scurry back away from him and the Bats flutter their wings nervously. Before Hiei can speak, though, another pair of winged demons land not far away. Hiei watches Dagon and Pterrayu approach through a path created by the winged clan. Several of the Bats squeak out their recognition of Pterrayu. The Bat hybrid stops in front of them and raises his hands and wings to command their attention.
Pterrayu- Listen to me, all of you,.. my cousins.. That demon standing there.. is Lord Hiei the Jaganshi.. He’s the one that killed Yushigu and Asmaroth.. He’s the one that set all of you free from Ooshama’s tierany!
* A loud squawking, chirping murmur circulates through the Bat flock. Chattering also filters through the Rat pack. Hiei rolls his eyes, somewhat annoyed at the interruption, but decides to continue listening. Dagon continues to saunter his way over to lean against the boulder as Pterrayu continues.
Pterrayu- With Yushigu’s death it now leaves me as the eldest of our flock that was once divided by Ooshama! Is there anyone here that wishes to contest my stepping up to take my rightful place?!
* Hiei growls, then quiets when Dagon holds up a hand to restrain him.
Dagon(Quietly)- Patience, Master.
* After a couple moments of complete silence, Pterrayu is satisfied that there will be no challengers to his claim.
Pterrayu- Then I now proclaim that this flock and my own are no longer divided!
* Excited squawks of agreement roars from the winged clan. It quiets when Pterrayu regains their attention.
Pterrayu- I also now introduce to you, your new leader! The one I’ve chosen to be my Alpha..!
* Pterrayu turns with a bit of a flourish to motion toward Hiei.
Pterrayu- All hail Lord Hiei!
* A few more moments of silence, then the winged flock obediently begins to shout their various words of honor to Hiei. Dagon leans toward the group of rats and other various rodent-type demons that are just exchanging uncertain looks among themselves.
Dagon- I would join them if you want to live long enough to enjoy your new freedom.
* Again glances are exchanged briefly. Then they begin to join the winged clan’s chanting. The apparition pinches the bridge of his nose. Dagon rolls his head back to grin up at him.
Dagon- They’re all yours, Master.
Hiei- Hn.. Alright, shut up, the bunch of you!
* Complete silence falls as Hiei scans his red eyes, and one concealed purple eye, over the crowd of demons before him.
Hiei- Ooshama will no doubt be showing up here soon.. Feel free to stick around and witness his demise.
* With that Hiei turns and leaps off the boulder. He glances up at the Crow who falls into step beside him, but continues on through the barrier. When they disappear into the fog Pterrayu gets his flock’s attention again.
Pterrayu- We’re settling in! We won’t want to miss this!
* Pterrayu waves his hands and leads the winged demons up into the trees to settle in. The Rat clan chatters amongst themselves a few moments then scurries away into the surrounding underbrush.
