Chapter 15
Okay, I know this is a bad idea to post this chapter before I even have the next one started but…I’M BORED! Boredom is a dangerous thing.
Chapter 15
Night had now fallen. Everyone was cleaning up and getting ready to leave. Kuwabara had fallen asleep on the couch an hour ago and everyone was doing their best not to disturb him.
They had nearly finished when it happened. Botan had been picking up some trash by the door when she felt a gust of eerie wind go by. A chill traveled down her spine, causing her to look up. She froze when she saw a shadow walk by outside.
‘Who was that? I didn’t think anyone was outside.’ The only person she could think of to have gone outside was Hiei.
The deity opened the door and stuck her head out. “Hiei?” She’d looked out just in time to see the edge of the shadow disappear around the corner.
“Botan?”
Botan turned back toward Yusuke. “What is it?”
“Someone’s out there.”
He got up and stuck out his own head. “I don’t sense anything.”
He pushed past her outside. “Be careful, Yusuke.”
He walked slowly along the porch, preparing himself for an ambush. He peeked around the corner.
Nothing.
He made his way further down and peeked around the other corner. He felt someone tap his shoulder and turned.
BAM!
Yusuke was sent flying backwards and crashed through the wall. He landed in a room holding Genkai and Kaeko.
Kaeko screamed in fear and ran to Yusuke to check on him.
“Stay back, Kaeko!” He jumped up and took a look at his attacker.
He was BIG! If Yusuke was ever asked to describe how a giant and a troll mixed together looked he would just have to describe this guy. His skin was dark peach with patches of pukey green. He wore no shirt save for two leather straps crossing over his chest. His pants looked as if they’d been made from human skin and he was covered in body hair.
“Whoa! Hello ugly!”
Either the giant troll was skipping the introductions or he really didn’t like being called ugly. He let out a loud roar and charged head first toward Yusuke.
Now if Yusuke had been smart he would’ve dodged out of the way and let the giant slam his head into the wall. But Yusuke decided no, he’s gonna be cocky and punch the guy in the head as he was charging.
Bad idea.
Not only did this guy have really hard skin but Yusuke’s strength alone wasn’t enough to send him flying backwards, returning the favor he’d given Yusuke.
Nope, instead he just kept coming and slammed Yusuke through another wall. Yusuke gasped for air trying to fill his lungs back with up. He coughed up blood and heard the ocean in his ears.
‘Ah damn.’
Kurama came running in and swung his rose whip. It caught the giant in his stomach but once again, this guy had some pretty rock-solid skin. He received a few puncture wounds but all it succeeded in doing was annoying him.
He grabbed the whip and tried to pull it out of Kurama’s hands. Kurama held tight, not willing to allow the enemy to get his weapon for himself and was slammed into the ceiling. He fell back down and hit the ground with an “oof!”
“Kurama!” Yusuke went to run to him and was grabbed from behind. Twisting around he saw another troll just as ugly as the first.
The troll picked him up and held him over his head as he began to squeeze the life out of him.
Yusuke squirmed as he felt the air in his lungs forced out. His vision blurred and soon he saw yellow. (that’s what I see when in pain. Never stars) He was feeling lightheaded and his lungs burned.
Suddenly the pressure disappeared and sweet oxygen rushed back in. He felt himself fall to the floor and lay there. He took a few deep breathes and looked up with hazy eyes.
Hiei had slashed at the giants arm with his katana. It didn’t manage to cut it clean off but it did injure the thing enough to make it lose its hold on Yusuke.
Hiei was now fighting the second troll and Kurama had gotten up and continued to fight the first.
Yusuke watched them both, standing ready with his spirit gun, waiting for the perfect shot.
Kurama’s came first. Kurama wrapped the whip around it’s neck and forced it backwards. It’s fat stomach protruded out grossly, making it the perfect target.
“Kurama heads up!”
Yusuke gathered just enough energy to bust through the troll’s skin and kill it. It gave what sounded like a grunt and toppled forward onto it’s gutted belly.
Yusuke and Kurama turned to the second troll and killed it in a similar fashion.
“Well that wasn’t too bad.” Said Yusuke cheerily.
“Hn. These were weaklings, detective.”
“Yeah, except for that skin though. Man, they should make armor outta that stuff!”
“Some demons do.” Said Kurama. “These are called Arakkins. They are known for their hard and are often hunted for them.”
“Oh. Then what are they doing here? If they’re being hunted all the time, you’d think they’d want to keep a low profile.”
Hiei answered “They were probably working for someone. I hear they’ve been used occasionally by slave traders.”
Yusuke blinked. “Slave traders? What kind of slaves?”
“Humans mostly.”
“So then they must have come looking for humans to capture and sell. Are we sure there were only two?” asked Kurama.
Yusuke shrugged. “Dunno. Let’s go check.”
Kurama went to the back of the shrine and Hiei disappeared into the forest. Yusuke went back into the living room where Kuwabara had fallen asleep on the couch.
“Hey Kuwabara, you know you can sleep through just about anyt-“
The couch was empty. Slightly concerned, Yusuke began looking through the whole house. When he still hadn’t found him, he ran outside in a panic screaming Kuwabara’s name.
The others quickly figured out that the human was missing and began searching as well. They spent half the night searching in vain.
Kuwabara was gone.
I spent a long time trying to figure out a reason as to why Kuwabara would be kidnapped and I think I came up with a pretty good one. Koenma will explain it in the next chapter. If I ever get it started!
