Scene 15 ---------- Later That Day


* After spending most of the day sorting out his growing army, and having to weed out a few with devious intentions, Hiei returns to the suite that he’s chosen for his own. Mainly because it was the smallest one he’d found. He isn’t too surprised to find Sarista relaxing on his couch. But he is a bit taken back by the various voices he hears in his kitchen. He glances toward it as he removes his cloak.


Hiei- What the h---?


* Sarista smiles and crooks a finger at him.


Sarista- Come sit down and relax. You’ve had a busy day, Darling.


* Hiei starts toward the couch, then sighs when a black blur materializes as River when she attaches herself to his neck. He realizes how much she’s grown just in the past few days as he lifts his arms to embrace her.


Hiei- River.


* He continues to the couch to sink onto it beside Sarista.


River- Daddy, this place is so big.. I couldn’t find you no where!

Hiei- Calm down, Spark. I’m here now.


* Hiei looks at Sarista and accepts her kiss when she leans toward him, aware that River’s eyes don’t miss a thing. When he pulls away from Sarista and don’t offer her the same greeting the little girl buries her face against his neck to hide her scowl. But the jaganshi still feels her disappointment. Hesitantly he moves his face down to nuzzle against one of her ears. Sarista quirks an eyebrow, but holds her peace.


Hiei- Hey, I hear you found your own room, River.

River- Hn.. I wanted to stay with you, but Aunt ‘Ris made me find my own.

Hiei- That means that you’re a big girl now to have a room all to yourself.


* River leans back, rolls her eyes, then crosses her arms in a manner that mirrors his own attitude a little too much for his comfort.


River- You just don’t want me..

Hiei- That’s not true. River, we’ve had this discussion before.. You can come in here to see me anytime you want, the same as..


* A loud screech comes from the noisy kitchen followed by the metal crash of a pan. Hiei looks back at Sarista again.


Hiei- Are they fighting over something in there?

Sarista- No and don’t you dare use your eye.. They’re working on a surprise supper for you.

Hiei- All of them?

Sarista- No. Only Lily, Sylk, the Leopardess, and Eboni.

Hiei- Why should it take that many..?

River- Because they want to show you how much they care about you.. They’re allowed to..

Sarista- River, why don’t you go play in your room. Your Daddy is tired and he doesn’t need your drama right now.


* Hiei is a bit startled when River hisses toward Sarista. He places a hand on his daughter’s head silencing her.


Hiei- Enough, Spark. I’ve told you about disrespecting your Aunt ‘Ris. Go to your room.


* River glances sadly up at Hiei then blinks over to the door.


Hiei- River. You know I love you.


* She hesitates only a moment, then leaves. Hiei leans forward to bury his face in his hands.


Hiei- That girl’s too much like me.. I’m going to have to start doing something about that.

Sarista- You’re going to have to start paying more attention to her.


* Hiei looks toward Sarista. After a few moments of silence he sighs and leans back again.


Hiei- Are the rest of my brats settling in okay?

Sarista- Most of them are still staying with their mothers.

Hiei- Good.. So what do you all think of this place?

Sarista- It’s.. big.. I think it seperates all of us.


* Hiei lowers his eyes.


Hiei- Would you rather return to the ravine?


* Sarista leans closer to him to touch his chest. The touch of her warm hand sparks sensations in Hiei even through the sleeveless black tee shirt he’s wearing.


Sarista- No. You need to stay here. It’s more befitting of your new position.. We’ll adjust.


* Hiei allows Sarista to capture him in a much deeper kiss until he feels a presence come out of the kitchen. The Koorime growls quietly and pulls away from Sarista.


Hiei- What was that you said about seperating all of you?


* He looks up at Sylk who is now leaning one hand on a hip as she licks at the index finger of her other hand.


Sylk- D--- that Fox b---- can bite.

Hiei- What did you do to provoke her this time, Cat?


* Sylk scowls at him, then ‘hmphs’ as she moves to sit in one of the arm chairs.


Sylk- I offered her a taste of the venison I prepared.. She liked it too much.


* She looks at Hiei again.


Sylk- They told me to come tell you that your meal is ready, M’Lord.


* Hiei stands, ignoring her sarcastic tone. He’s becoming accustomed to her attitude. He does look toward her again when she remains seated.


Hiei- Aren’t you coming?

Sylk- No. That room is too crowded.


* Hiei motions Sarista to go on into the kitchen. He then goes over to stand facing Sylk. After studying her a moment he leans to catch her hand to inspect the injured finger.


Hiei- Was it truly an accident?


* Sylk works her hand loose from his grasp.


Sylk- Of course. If she bit me like that on purpose she’d be missing that obnoxious tail of hers.


* Sylk stands to move away from Hiei’s scrutinizing gaze.


Sylk- I’m returning to my own..


* Hiei reaches out to stop her from leaving.


Hiei- I appreciate that you’re trying to fit in here.

Sylk- I doubt if that’ll ever happen. I don’t belong here.

Hiei- Then go where you want to go.


* Sylk rolls her eyes then glares down at him.


Sylk- Again with this s---?! You know that I can’t do that.. And I know that you don’t want to release me.


* She crosses her arms. Hiei lifts the hand from her arm to rub his forehead.


Hiei- D---, you know how to give me a migraine.


* He looks back up at her again.


Hiei- But you’re right. I don’t want to let you go. If I did I’d have given you over to Yusuke already.


* Sylk growls and lashes her tail angrily.


Sylk- That halfhuman son of a..?!

Hiei- He’s a Mazoku. In fact, maybe that wouldn’t be a good idea.. You’d just drive him crazy and he’d probably destroy all of Demon World.


* For a couple moments the two of them just stare at each other. Finally Hiei can hold back his amused smirk no longer. Sylk rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.


Hiei- Sylk, I want you to stay here and calm down. It’s my duty to protect you and all the others I care about.


* Hiei turns to head toward the kitchen.


Sylk- Hn. You certainly are the master of double talk.


* He stops and scowls as he half turns to look back up at her.


Hiei- What?

Sylk- You don’t mind letting someone else protect that Human..


* Hiei growls and turns away again.


Hiei- What I do with her doesn’t concern you!

Sylk- Running from the issue won’t make it go away.

Hiei- I’m not running. I’m going to go eat the meal that’s been prepared for me. You can join us if you wish, but I’ll hear no more about her!


* Hiei continues on into the kitchen. It’s obvious to him that they’ve all heard the conversation. He goes over and sits down at the table that’s full of various food. When the females all just exchange sad looks he suddenly gets the idea of why this meal was prepared. He looks up at them.


Hiei- I would think you’d all be glad to be rid of the Human.


* Sarista frowns at him.


Sarista- Staci is more than just a Human!

Lily- She’s our Pack Sister.

Loreen- Human or not, she’s still your mate.. And pregnant to you, I understand.

Hiei- Hn. Another one of my lapses of judgment.

Lily- Another..?


* Hiei growls silencing them all.


Hiei- Enough!

Sarista- Alright. Everyone out.

Hiei- Hn. Thanks for the meal.


* Lily turns at the doorway as the others leave.


Lily- She’s still going to need you.

Sarista- Bothering him about it won’t help, Lily.

Hiei- She’s safer there, Fox.


* Lily lowers her eyes sadly and leaves. Hiei looks back down at the food a couple moments. Sarista comes over and prepares him a plate as she usually would. She then takes her place at the table beside him to get her own.


Hiei- ‘Ris,.. it wasn’t an easy decision for me to make.. But I feel that it’s a better decision than the mess I almost caused the Mare.

Sarista- Life is full of hard decisions. You’re the Alpha. You make the decisions and we abide by them. That’s the way it is.. But you have to live with them, as well.


* Hiei looks at her a moment, then looks back down at his plateful of food. Sarista feels his inner turmoil as he forces himself to eat as much as he can, but she remains quiet. When he finally stands and leaves the room quietly Sarista sighs, feeling him close himself off from her. A couple seconds later she hears the outer door open and shut as he leaves the suite completely.

I’m working on another scene. I’ll try to get it added in later today. My computer is still giving me fits by not allowing some sites to load all the time for some reason.
