Hiei's Harem - Pt. 16 - Attaining

Thank you, POH and Tachimaru, for your reviews. There were only two for these past few chapters, but hey, the rating is back up to 5 pluses. That's a good sign, right? I’m not going to make any excuses for how my story goes. Sometimes my stuff just seems to write itself. I see it, like a video playing in my head, and write as I see it. The twists and turns may satisfy some, may disappoint others, but the story is what it wants to be. Thank you for keeping up with it so faithfully. But it’s not over yet. :o)

Scene 15 ---------- The Hallway


* When Hiei and Koenma reach a pair of large scenic windows the jaganshi stops to look out. Koenma watches the apparition’s eyes scan the vast view a couple moments.


Koenma- You do know that there’s really no need to drag this out any further.


* Hiei slowly nods.


Hiei- You know I hate formalities.

Koenma- All I have to do is just lift the barrier.. On your word.. Then all of Demon World will know that she’s gone.. That you’re in control here.


* Hiei remains silent for several more moments, then nods again.


Hiei- Do it.

Koenma- Are you sure?

Hiei- I want to get this s--- over with so I can get back to my.. pack.

Koenma- So what did you want to talk to me about? Staci?


* Hiei shakes his head and finally turns away from the window glancing up at the Prince.


Hiei- No. I’ve already made my decision concerning her, as well.

Koenma- Hiei,..

Hiei- She’s my mate.. regardless of how it came to be.. Human or not, that won’t change my mistake now.. But I will be returning her to the Shrine where she’ll remain safe.. Hopefully this time you three will be able to keep her there.

Koenma- Does she know what you’re planning to do?


* Hiei blinks up at the Teen a moment then looks away again.


Hiei- She’ll know what I want her to know. How I deal with her is nobody’s business but my own.. I asked you out here about another one of my females.. I need to ask you for a favor.


* Koenma cants his head slightly.


Koenma- A.. favor? You want me to..?


* Hiei looks back up at him, displaying his seriousness clearly.


Hiei- It concerns my Kitsune mate, Lily.. I would like for Botan to see if she can.. heal her.. so she can bear young again.


* Koenma hesitantly sighs and turns away.


Koenma- That would kinda be like.. changing fate.


* Hiei stares up at Koenma a couple moments, then lowers his eyes and starts away.


Koenma- Hiei,.. you told me not to interfere in your..

Hiei- I wasn’t asking it for myself.


* Hiei takes a couple more steps.


Koenma- I know.. I’ll see what I can do, but I can’t promise any miracles.. Here.


* Hiei turns back to face Koenma who hands him a small device.


Koenma- You’ll need this to get Staci back to Human World. I already planned on giving it to you, anyway.. It’s got the Shrine’s co-ordinates programmed in.


* Hiei nods slightly and pockets the remote.


Hiei- When you return to the cafeteria tell my subs to get their a—es back to my suite.. Once you lift your barrier it won’t take Yomi long to get here.

Koenma- He’ll probably leave as soon as he senses the change.. That means he’ll arrive sometime tomorrow.

Hiei- I’ll be ready.. But tell Yusuke that he don’t have to be here another night.. I’d hate to make him suffer any more.

Koenma- He’s not agitated because of his sleeping arrangements.


* Hiei just grunts then turns and walks off down the darkening hall. Koenma quietly removes his maafuken and touches it to the nearby wall. Himself and everyone else inside the mobile fortress feels the barrier dissipate. In the cafeteria Yusuke meets Dagon’s eyes again.


Yusuke- So much for the big ceremony.


* Dagon and the Lynxs stand and leave past Koenma who’s just re-entering. The Teen realizes that there’s no need to give them Hiei’s message and continues on in to sit with Yusuke again.


Yusuke- He knows that Yomi will come.

Koenma- Yes. He does.. He says he’s ready.

Yusuke- The Goat’ll probably bring Kurama.


* Koenma only gives a slight nod before reaching to get himself another cup of coffee from the thermos in the center of the table.


Yusuke- You know I’m staying.


* Again, Koenma just nods.


Yusuke- So are you.

Koenma- Of course.


* Yusuke reaches his own half empty cup over and Koenma tops it off.
