Hiei's Harem - Pt. 9 - Heating Up

Scene 15 ---------- Koenma's Office

* The busy Toddler Prince looks up when Yusuke enters. Koenma immediately feels his friend's somber mood and lays his gavel aside. He shifts into his Teen form.


Koenma- Yusuke.

Yusuke- Hey. Kurama can see again.

Koenma- That's good news.. Isn't it?


* Yusuke nods as he sits down in the big arm chair in front of his desk.


Koenma- Something happen between you two?

Yusuke- No.. I need to go give Yukina the news about Hiei.. Then I have to get back to my own life.

Koenma- I'll open you a portal to Genkai's shrine. Why don't you take a few days to relax there before returning to Demon World.


* Koenma stands and moves toward the computer console.


Yusuke- I have a Territory to rule.. Don't get your diapey in a knot. I'm not going to go after Hiei again.


* Koenma programs the portal then turns to look at Yusuke again.


Koenma- Yusuke,..

Yusuke- I promise. Okay? - It's obvious now that I can't have him, either.


* Yusuke stands and heads toward the portal.


Koenma- I'll be down in a couple days to check on you.

Yusuke- I don't need a d--- babysitter!

Koenma- But there's things..

Yusuke- I don't care.


* With that Yusuke hops into the portal. Koenma sighs and lifts a hand to rub his forehead. The Toushin looks around to orient himself when he appears next in the Shrine's kitchen. Kuwabara and Yukina are at the modern-style table eating their lunch. The burly redhead motions toward an empty chair.


Kuwabara- Come join us, Urameshi.


* Yukina fastens her eyes on the former detective expectantly as he comes over to sit.


Yukina- Please help yourself, Yusuke. I made plenty.

Yusuke- I'm not here to socialize.. for long.


* Yusuke notices Yukina's mood fall and looks at her.


Yusuke- Look, Yukina.. I've never been one to beat around the bush.. We couldn't find Hiei because he doesn't want to be found.

Kuwabara(mumbled)- D--- selfish little..

Yukina- No, Kazuma. It's not his fault..

Yusuke- Hey. Listen to me..


* Yusuke makes her look back up at him gently.


Yusuke- Answer me this, Yukina.. Are you happy with this big lug?


* Yusuke tilts his head to indicate Kuwabara. Yukina looks at the boy she's been sharing the Shrine with recently.


Yukina- Yes, Yusuke. Yes, I am.

Yusuke- Then that's all that matters.. Get on with your life and be happy.

Yukina- But I want Hiei to know..

Yusuke- Koenma spoke with him. He's.. sorting himself out somewhere in Demon World.. .

Kuwabara- Sorting himself?

Yusuke- Yeah. Probably out there curbing the population.


* To this Kuwabara gives a signature chuckle. Yusuke looks at Yukina again.


Yusuke- That's what Hiei's always wanted you to do, Yukina.. To be happy.. That's why he never revealed himself to you in the first place. He thought that you'd never be happy if you knew about him. About everything he had to do to survive.

Yukina- I would never hold any of that against him. I grew up in Demon World myself, ya know.

Yusuke- He may seem cold, but I know that he cares very much about you.. I'm sure he'll be around again someday to check on you. But it won't be until he's ready. So take your life off of pause and get on with it.. Just like I'm going to do with mine.


* Yusuke stands again.


Yusuke- I'll see ya around, Kuwa.

Kuwabara- Where are you going now?

Yusuke- I have to get back to Tourin. I am a Territory Lord, remember?

Kuwabara- Oh. Yeah. Well, you're welcome to come around anytime you need a break from that stuff.

Yusuke- I'll probably be back every now and then when I want to kick your a-- to relieve my stress.


* Yusuke pats Kuwabara on the shoulder then leaves. Yukina wipes her cheeks as she looks at Kuwabara. She's not really sure what else to say as she watches him stare off after Yusuke solemnly. When Kuwabara senses her attention he gives her a small smile then they continue eating quietly.

The story is going to shift more towards Hiei's side for quite a while now. I hope you won't be bored. :o)
