Scene 15
Thanks to the eagerness of my fantastic reviewers here is another scene of this ongoing saga. You're all provoking me into keeping this thing growing.. er.. I mean, going, lol. So there, now you only have yourselves to blame, hehehe.

Scene 15 -------------- Lily's Meadow
When Hiei approaches the flowered meadow his senses alert him to the guarding plants that are similar to the ones that make up the barrier guarding the mouth of the ravine. But when he exudes some of his aura a small path opens to allow him to enter. He moves through it into the sheltered meadow. He pauses when he sees the black Kitsune, in her full Fox form, curled up in the center. Even though she seems to be asleep Hiei can feel the sadness radiating through her. He feels the spike of panic that shoots through himself, but he remains calm as he goes over to her. He sinks to sit down indian-style beside her. Lily opens her golden eyes lazily, but gives no further reaction as Hiei carefully scoops her onto his lap. He slowly feeds his energy into her habitually as he strokes her with his unwarded hand. It isn't long until he feels the reason for her sadness and isolation as he gently probes her thoughts. Hiei closes his eyes and sighs, 'Whatever was ailing her is just starting to wear off, but she thinks..' Hiei catches himself when Lily's voice interrupts his thought.
(#) Lily- What is.. ailing me.. is my own.. weakness.
Hiei- No, Lily.. The shame lays on my shoulders. I've allowed this to go on too long..
(#) Lily- This loss has nothing to do with your absence! You have cared for us better than we ever expected.
* Lily raises her vulpine head to look up at him. Hiei forces himself to meet her dull gaze.
Hiei- My staying away from all of you was foolishness.. I've accepted my position as your Alpha, now I must realize that I have responsibilities that outweigh my.. d--- pride.
* Before he actually grasps what he's doing, Hiei lowers his head to rub his nose against hers. Lily is at first startled by the gesture, then closes her eyes and relaxes. Hiei feels his energy being accepted more easily into her. He sighs deeply and settles himself down on his side, cuddling her furry fox form against him.
Hiei- Your plants will protect us.. Rest now and we'll discuss this more later.
* Lily's tongue laps his chest a couple times as her tail brushes his upper thigh and hip. Then she closes her eyes.
(#) Lily- I promise.. I will try not to lose another.
* Hiei lifts his head to look at her but before he can speak he feels her slip into hibernation. He sighs and relaxes his head back down on the cool grass as he tries to figure out the best way to explain what he feels is happening.

Short, I know, but this one is just a prelude to the next scene. I'll try to add it later today. It'll be a real juicy one, I promise, so consider yourself warned. ;oP
