Shura's Quest - A New Situation

Okay. This will be the last scene of this sequel. I need to think of the title for the next one, but it won't take me long to decide.

Scene 15 ----------------------- The Prison Dungeon


* After using one of his spells to leave the outer guards bewildered long enough for him to get past, Youda makes his way down into the innermost holding area. He ducks back just as the heavy door is pushed open. A trio of obviously drunken stumble out of the room boisterously congratulating each other for what they've just done. Youda is concentrating so hard on watching them stand in the hall and boast that he doesn't realize that he, himself, has been spotted until the presence is right upon him. Youda spins with a hand raised, ready to cast another bewildering spell, but the high-ranked officer places a calm hand on his shoulder. The captain lifts a finger to his lips signaling Youda to be quiet then presses him back against the wall.


Captain Hykura- (Quietly) You wish to see.. the prisoner?


* Youda doesn't respond.


Captain Hykura- (Quietly) Stay here, Master Youda. I'll get rid of those idiots.


* Before Youda can finally respond the Captain straightens up and moves around the corner. He crosses his arms and puts his best scowl on his face.


Captain Hykura- What the h---'s going on here?!


* The three guards turn and chuckle as they loosely salute.


Captain Hykura- All three of you are drunk on duty! Do you have any idea what General Mukakai will do when he hears of this?!


* The captain's words must make it through to their stupified minds because they all three grow quiet.


Captain Hykura- I came down here to start my day off with an easy lay and what do I find? A bunch of impudent, drunken louses! Get out of my sight before I forget why I came down here!!


* Instead the three crowd the captain and begin begging him not to report them. Captain Hykura holds a hand up with a sigh.


Captain Hykura- Alright, I'm in a fairly good mood still. I'll make a deal with ya..


* Hykura glances up and down the hall quickly.


Captain Hykura- I came early to get a private session.. You understand?


* The three nod quickly.


Captain Hykura- Park your a--es at the top of the stairs and make sure nobody else decides to interfere.. Just tell them that I'm down here given the Princey his breakfast. You got that? Anyone comes down those stairs and my report goes straight to Mukakai.. And I'll make sure Lord Shura is in the vicinity!


* Now the three nearly trample each other to get away. When the captain hears the door at the foot of the stairs shut he looks back toward the corner.


Captain Hykura- All clear, Sir.


* When Youda steps out and moves to look up at him Captain Hykura snaps to attention and touches a hand to his chest respectfully. Youda recognizes the now-forbidden old salute and nods.


Youda- Thank you. I won't be long..

Captain Hykura- All I ask is that you assure me that Lord Koenma's torment won't go on much longer.


* Youda lowers his eyes and sighs deeply.


Youda- I wish the end to all of this was upon us, Captain.. But I can assure you of this. Lord Kurama is on his way.


* The captain looks down at Youda clearly excited.


Captain Hykura- That is wonderful news, Master Youda.. I'm sure that as soon as Lord Kurama shows up in the gate Gandera will be his.. Many of us lost heart when we heard that he'd been killed..

Youda- Let's make sure that the brat continues to think so..

Captain Hykura- Of course. Please hurry now.


* The captain pulls the heavy door open further. Youda makes his way inside the cell. The condition he finds Koenma in nearly makes him wish that he hadn't come. Captain Hykura steps past him, removes the cape from his shoulders, and goes over to the table where the Prince is strapped. Koenma is too incoherant and exhausted to even take much notice of the man covering him up. Youda swallows and waits until Koenma is removed from the table and taken over to the dingy futon he's forced to sleep on. The short demon then goes over slowly to look down at him.


Captain Hykura- General Mukakai assigned me to the task of taking care of him as much as I can.. Sadly, all I can manage to do is feed him and clean him up a bit.. He's blind you know..


* When Youda doesn't respond Hykura looks up at him.


Youda- May King Enma have mercy on our World..


* The captain swallows.


Captain Hykura- Do you think he will?


* Youda glances at the captain.


Youda- At least we've lived a long life, Captain.


* Youda turns to leave sadly. Captain Hykura stands.


Captain Hykura- The fault lies with Shura! The cause will continue.. It must continue.


* Youda pauses at the door a moment.


Youda- Hai, Captain. This is not the only sin that Shura will pay dearly for.

Captain Hykura- I would rather our World be cast away as the Netherworld was.. then live in it if that little b------ accomplishes his goal.


* Youda nods.


Youda- Hai, you speak for many, Captain.. But let's not lose hope, yet.


* Youda leaves. Captain Hykura kneels once more beside Koenma to give him as much care as he can to keep the injured Prince comfortable.
