Ello all who still find this story interesting. I am sorry for long hiatus but I've just been down in the dumps for a while and just found the strength to continue writing, let alone finshing this fic. I do hope I still have some fellow readers/reviewers out there who want to find out what happens next. Without further ado, the long awaited Chapter 15

Chapter 15

After the tingling sensation subsided from the portal, the two boys approached their home hand in hand, happy to be there and away from bionic woman and hospitals. (Shudders). Yusuke unlocked the door with his key and Kurama went in first followed behind by his mate locking the door behind him. It seemed they were in Makai a lot longer for the sun was just beginning its descent and the moon cast its vibrant light on the land below.

“Hey fox, I’ll be right back, have to release some pent up frustration.”

“I thought I took care of that, love.” Kurama pouted sweetly.

“Oh, you did my sexy lover, but that’s not what I’m talking about.” Yusuke kissed the pouted lips and grinned wryly.

“Oh.” Kurama smiled and pushed Yusuke towards the stairs leading to the bathroom. He stretched his tired muscles while Yusuke did his thing in the lavatory. “Hurry up love we have something we have to…discuss.”

“Yea about that you never did tell me what’s wrong. I’ll be out in a minute.”

‘How am I going to tell you, Koi? One minute we’re passionately making love and the next thing that could possibly happen is I waking up and carrying your child…our child… Oh dear.’ Kurama thought as he collapsed into the nearest chair, which happened to be the couch.

Yusuke ran down the stairs and jumped the few remaining with a big grin plastered on his face. Kurama smiled back from his place on the couch and patted the empty space for his lover to occupy. Yusuke sat down and pulled Kurama into his embrace holding him securely to his chest and stroking his hair lovingly.

“Koi, you know how much I love you, right?” Kurama asked uncertainly.

“Of course I do. If it weren’t for you, hell who knows where I’d be. Sure, I could have bunked at Kuwabara’s, shit even Genkai would have put up with me, okay maybe not. Hey even that little place in Makai my ancestor left me could have suited me, but I needed something more than a place to stay. No, someone to keep me grounded,” he turned Kurama to face him as their eyes met, “I needed you.” He leaned in to give his fox a soft kiss on the lips. “I love you, Kurama and whatever it is we will deal with it together. Never doubt my feelings for you, okay.”

“Yusuke,” Kurama sighed and kissed the raven-haired youth deeply, expressing emotions he was not able to with words, “then what I have to say will no doubt shock you. I have to admit myself I am still stunned by it, but it is true.”

“Okay, so what can it be? Wait. Don’t tell me Mukuro found out that you’re really a female after all these years. Dammit and here, I loved all your male parts. I guess we can work around it.” Yusuke said playfully.

Kurama feigned a hurtful expression as he smacked Yusuke’s hand. “Well of course I’m all male.” Except for a certain detail, his mind supplied. “But seriously Koi, what I am about to say will have a major impact on our lives from now on.” He took a deep breath and gathered the courage needed to tell his mate they were going to be… “Yusuke, I’m…what I mean to say is…”

Knock. Knock. Bang. Knock. Kurama groaned loudly as he was interrupted for what seemed like the thousandth time. He slipped from his mate’s grasp to answer the door. Yusuke turned around to look at the visitor who stood in the arch with a big goofy grin, orange- hair and a short black dressed figure with a scowl on his face.

“Urameshi.” Kuwabara headed straight for the couch not taking notice of the red head by the door and pulled Yusuke into a bear hug quickly cutting off his air supply.

“Hey it’s nice to see you to Kuwabara but I can’t breath.”

“Oh, he he he.” Kuwabara released his hold on Yusuke and stepped back a bit. “So how have you been?”

“Well you know a little ass kicking here, fighting with Keiko, oh and shacking up with Kurama over there.” Yusuke said pointing at the redhead.

Kuwabara followed the finger and grinned at the fox. “What have I missed since being overseas?”

“Buddy a lot. Nevertheless, come on in. it’s about time we had a reunion. Ain’t that right, Hiei?” Yusuke said smiling deviously.

“Hn.” Hiei replied as he shoved Yusuke out the way and took a seat in the recliner.

The other two followed suit and sat down in the remaining vacant chairs, Kurama next to Yusuke and Kuwabara in the other recliner. Yusuke brought Kurama closer to him and Kurama rested his head on Yusuke’s shoulder. Kuwabara noticed this but said nothing. Hiei closed his eyes and tuned the group out.

“So, where shall I begin,” Yusuke started, “let’s see should I start when me and Keiko had our brawl-”

“YOU and Keiko had a fight! When? What did you do this time?”

“It wasn’t my fault. Gods, can I at least explain my side of the story first.” Yusuke shouted. Everyone grew quiet; Hiei opened his eyes and turned them to the raging toushin. Kurama grasped his hand in his and squeezed, while Kuwabara just gaped at him. “Anyway, as I was saying, we had another fight and this time it wasn’t my fault. It was later in the night when…”

*Flashback*

Yusuke took off his shoes and threw his jacket on the chair near the door. He saw the television tuned to the news as he passed the living room and into the kitchen. He found his beautiful fiancé over by the stove stirring what looked to be dinner.

“Mmm, something smells delicious.” Yusuke purred as he pressed against Keiko. His lips nibbled on her earlobe as he wrapped his arms around her.

“Yusuke, I’m cooking.” She giggled as he pulled her closer. “You don’t want me to burn the food now, do you?”

“No fair,” He pouted, “the food gets more attention than me.”

“Never, love. I just want everything to be special.”

‘Special?’Yusuke thought. “What’s so special about tonight?”

“Silly don’t you remember. Your job promotion. You said you were getting it today. So what are you going to be doing now? Assistant Manager? Supervisor?”

“Uh…Keiko about that.” Yusuke moved away and slumped into the nearest kitchen chair. “You see I…I didn’t get the promotion. Someone else did.” He held his head down in shame.

“Not again. Yusuke we can’t keep going through this. My father won’t continue to support us anymore. He believes we should be able to take care of ourselves. And between me working at the shop, I can’t support us both.” She sighed and walked towards the sink to wash her hands. “What happened this time?”

Yusuke shook his head and groaned. He really didn’t feel like talking now knowing how it would end.

“Okay, so I go to Mr. Igitchi’s office and ask could I take the supervising position since Akimi got a better offer somewhere else. He said he had to think about it and he’d let me know by the end of the day. I left. Come to find out, the bastard gave the job to Minaru. The little shit-eater don’t even come to work half the time and yet he gave him, him the fucking position!” Yusuke was on his feet pacing back and forth. “And you want to know why he gave it to him. He said because he was still in college and going back to get his master’s. Fuck a master’s, I’ve been busting my ass for months at that place and I get knocked over by some kid wearing suspenders!”

Keiko went over to Yusuke and held him close trying to calm him down.

“Well, this wouldn’t have happened if you had just gone back to school like I suggested you do.”

“And this is where it went down hill.” Yusuke interrupted to catch his breath. “So, where was I, oh yeah…”

Yusuke pushed Keiko away from him and stared at her in amazement. He couldn’t believe she brought that up again.

“Keiko, haven’t we had this discussion before. You know me and school don’t mix. Haven’t you noticed my absences in middle and high school?”

“Yes dear I did take notice.” Keiko gritted her teeth. “That’s why if you applied yourself more you could have gotten decent grades to enter a college rather than wallowing in the minimum wage job you are in.”

“Oh really, and what about you miss straight A student. Why aren’t you in a proper college fitting your insurmountable knowledge of everything and anything?”

“You know damn well why. You know my mother is ill and can’t work that’s why I’m helping dad out. Otherwise this straight A student as you put it would be in college and not supporting an ungrateful, wannabe street thug, little mama’s boy! Oh, wait, your mother is never around so you can’t be that at all.” She said moving towards the living room.

“Keiko,” Yusuke growled unknowingly, following his fiancé, “you’re walking on thin ice. Leave my mother out of it.”

“Or what? You’re going to call your mother on me. Better yet Yusuke, you’re going to call your father.” Keiko laughed haughtily.

“Keiko.” Yusuke seethed. He was close to the breaking point and if Keiko did not watch what she said, he would regret his next actions. Maybe.

“Keiko, right now I am trying not to be cruel but you my dear are pushing it. You know damn well my father is not a subject we talk about. And my mother, you know nothing about what my life is like. So don’t go mouthing off like you do!”

“Really? Really, Yusuke. I don’t know anything, anything! Who did you call or run to when your mother wasn’t around? Who gave you food and a place to stay and spare clothes when you had none? My family and I did. I know more about your life than you let on Yusuke Urameshi. No wonder you’re no good, it must come from your father’s side of the family. Bad stock as they say-”

SMACK! Keiko stood wide-eyed. Her hand resting against the place Yusuke struck her cheek. Yusuke looked down at his hand and back at Keiko. His mind couldn’t put two and two together.

“Keiko…I…I’m…”

“Get. Out.”

“Keiko…”

“Get out. Get the fuck out, Yusuke! I never want to see your face again. In fact, here,” She snatched off the engagement ring and threw it at his feet. “We’re over.”

Her eyes were brimmed with unshed tears and her face red from anger and hurt. Yusuke still gazed down at his hand as if it were a foreign object. He couldn’t believe he had struck her. Without acknowledging her words or the ring at his feet, he grabbed his coat, slipped on his shoes and walked out the door. The cold night air chilled the tears as they fell freely from his eyes.

*End of Flashback*

Kuwabara’s jaw dropped and his eyes were wide. Kurama took in a shuddering breath and pulled Yusuke closer to his body for what comfort he had. Hiei had his eyes closed with a smirk in place. He never cared for the ningen known as Keiko and felt the Detective had the right idea to put the female in her place. She needed a good scolding.

“You hit a girl. Not just any girl, but Keiko! Urameshi, what about the honor code! You’re not supposed to hit a girl.” Kuwabara slumped in his chair and rubbed at his temples.

“Don’t you think I know that? I still can’t believe either? I mean that was the last thing I intended to do but she just…argh…”

“Serves her right.” Hiei said. He looked at his friends and rolled his eyes. “No female should question her mate’s decisions. She should have full confidence and be dedicated to him since they are as you ningens say ‘in love’. She got what she deserved, to be put in her place.”

“Shrimp you are asking for it. No female should be ever struck no matter what the circumstances are.” Kuwabara seethed.

“And what are you going to do about, you buffoon?” Hiei challenged as he unsheathed his katana.

“I’m going to teach you some manners. Starting with this, Spirit Sword!” Kuwabara summoned his weapon and stood in his fighting stance.
“Guys, guys, if you need to take your frustrations out, do it in the yard not my living room.” Kurama said as he rubbed his forehead. “Besides, Hiei, Kuwabara is right no matter what the circumstance is, no one should be struck. And Kuwabara, though hitting a female or anyone in general is frowned upon, in Makai if a mate is out of hand, the dominant has the right to in other words straighten them out.” Kurama explained calmly.

Kuwabara un-summoned his sword and collapsed back into the chair he was sitting in. Hiei took his seat and sheathed his katana. Yusuke released the breath his had been holding and scratched the back of his neck.

“Yeah, well. I still don’t think hitting a girl or anyone is okay.” Kuwabara grumbled. “So, the wedding’s off then, huh?”

“Yep. Keiko found herself a new boy toy and well, I’m happy for her. She needs to be happy and if the guy, annoying as is it, makes her happy then so be it.” Yusuke confessed.

“Oh. Ok then. How is Atsuko taking the news?”

“I haven’t seen my mom in a week so no idea. When she’s ready to return home, I’ll tell her about it and other things as well.” Yusuke said as he held Kurama’s hand in his.

Kuwabara noticed the small gesture and raised an orange brow. “Hey, Urameshi…?”

“Yeah?”

“Um…well…*clears throat*…what’s up with you and Kurama holding hands and stuff? I mean…uh…” Kuwabara’s face turned a slight pink as he found the silence deafening.

Yusuke glanced down at his and Kurama’s joined hands and brought it to his lips, giving it a gently kiss. Kurama smiled softly and turned his gaze back to their friend.

“Well after the fight with Keiko, I had no where else to go really. So I came to him for help and well, things between us seemed to grow stronger and long story short he and I became mates.” Yusuke explained with a big grin.

Kuwabara’s eyes grew wide as saucers at the declaration and had to regain the ability to breathe when he noticed his lack of oxygen.

“Are you ok, Kuwabara? Let me get you something to drink.” Kurama offered as he rose to get his friend a glass of water.

Kuwabara continued to stare blankly at his best friend and swallowed the lump forming in his throat so he could talk. Hiei grew bored of the two humans and decided he would find something to eat instead, leaving the two boys alone.
“Hey Kuwa…earth to Kuwabara. You ok man?” Yusuke asked as he waved a hand in front of his catatonic friend.

“Yeah…yeah yeah I’m fine. I’m just surprised to find out that you…well your…”

“Gay? Heh, I know I never would have thought it either. And if anyone were to call me that or even make a statement like that they wouldn’t be alive today. But I don’t see it like that. I have strong feelings for Kurama and he feels the same for me. After that fight, it was like only he could help me, ya know.” Yusuke tried to explain. He stretched himself out on the couch, his head resting on the armchair nearest to the chair Kuwabara sat. “I will even go so far as to say I love him. And coming from me, you know I’m dead serious.”

“But Yusuke. What will you do about Keiko if she decides she wants you back?”

“Far as I’m concerned Kuwabara. Keiko is a part of my life I won’t regret having but she is not in my future. Kurama’s my present and future until my life is over. He makes me happy and I hope I make him happy as well.”

“You make me more than happy, love.” Kurama interrupted. He carried a tray with glasses and sat it on the coffee table. “You are apart of me now, in more ways than one. I love you and nothing will ever change that.” Kurama stretched his body out to fit with Yusuke’s on the couch and kissed his nose.

“Eww. You guys are too lovey-dovey for me.” Kuwabara chuckled as a pillow was tossed at him. “hey!” He threw the pillow back only to have it hit Kurama instead.

“Very mature, boys.” He said and placed the pillow back in its original spot.

“That reminds me, foxy, you never told me what was wrong. You’re not getting off the hook this time just ‘cause we have company, so spill it.” Yusuke said as he pulled himself into an upright position.

‘Sigh, its now or never’, Kurama braced himself for the outburst surely to follow after his confession. “Yusuke, love, I don’t know how else to say this but…” He glanced at Kuwabara who was half way off his seat. Hiei stood in the room near the staircase and Yusuke held his hands in a comforting grasp. “What I’m trying to tell you is that…we are going to become parents…I’m pregnant, love”

THUD. THUD. Kurama sat on the couch, his hands covering his face as both his lover and their friend fell in a heap on the floor. Hiei resisted the urge to laugh as the fox tried his best to rouse his mate.

“I think I will enjoy my little sabbatical if things continue in this manner.” He said with a smirk.
“Oh hush Hiei and help me get them off the floor.” Kurama said as he tried to lift his mate only to be moved aside by Hiei.

“You are to do no heavy lifting, as Mukuro has stated. I will handle these idiots. Just fetch them something to wake them up.”

Kurama went to find one of his smelling salts and brought it back into the room. First he woke Kuwabara who flailed his arms about to get the foul smell away from him. Then he crawled over to the couch where his mate slept and waved the smelling salt under his nose.

“Gah, get that away from me.” Yusuke whined.

“I will once you wake up love.” Kurama crooned.

“ ‘Rama, I had this weird dream. We went to Mukuro and she said you were sick, then then you said you were pregnant.” He giggled and rubbed his eyes, “But that can’t be true, from what I learned in the short time I was in school, men can’t get pregnant.”

“It is true, love, that ningen men cannot conceive children. However, I was in my demon form and in heat. Those two factors may have played a role in this conception. So in other words, Yusuke I am pregnant, with your child.” Kurama stated as he laid his head on Yusuke’s chest.

Yusuke released a shuddering breath and brought his left hand to rest atop the fox’s head. His right one traveled down to his mate’s stomach and caressed it. There was no way his fox was pregnant, but he could feel, just faintly, a tiny spark of energy. Energy that did not belong to his mate.

“It’s…I…I can feel it. it’s faint…but its there. Kurama?” Yusuke whispered his mate’s name in awe. “We…we’re going to be…parents?”

Kurama laughed genuinely happy and kissed Yusuke full on the lips. Tears fell from his eyes as he held the toushin close. “Yes, love. We are going to be parents.”

“Ok.” And Yusuke passed out again.

Hiei rolled his eyes and went to find his bedroom. Kuwabara had fallen back asleep as soon as the smelling salt wore off and Kurama took his place on the couch with his mate, holding him close and smiling broadly.

“Aishiteru, Yusuke. My mate.”
