Scene 14 -------------- Alaric’s Cafeteria
* When Hiei and his small group of subordinates enter the large room it takes Hiei a couple moments to find who he’s searaching for without using his jagan. He hesitates a bit longer when he sees who Koenma’s with. The Koorime half glances up at Dagon. The Crow folds his arms and looks away.
Dagon- Don’t worry, I’ll be good.
Hiei- Hn.
* Dagon and the Lynx brothers follow Hiei over to Koenma’s table, various soldiers and worker demons scrambling out of his way respectfully. The Prince and Yusuke both look up at him.
Koenma- Lord Hiei..
Hiei- Don’t patronize me.. We need to talk, godling.
* Hiei starts to turn away.
Yusuke- So how’s Staci doing?
* Hiei pauses to glance coldly at Yusuke.
Hiei- She’s no longer your concern.
Yusuke- Hey, she stayed at my place for a couple days.. I kinda like the kid.
* The Koorime turns to face Yusuke fully with a scowl that quickly makes Yusuke raise his hands and shake his head.
Yusuke- Ho, woah, Shorty! That’s not what I meant! Nothing happened, I swear!
* Hiei rolls his eyes and looks back at Koenma. The Teen nods and stands.
Koenma- Sure.
* Hiei turns to leave, but Habataro raises a hand to his chest gently.
Habataro- Master,..
Hiei- Relax, Cat.. I’ve made my decision.
* When Hiei looks up at him Habataro nods and bows aside. Hiei surprises everyone when he pulls the elder Lynx down to his level by his tunic and gives him a brief, but thorough kiss.
Hiei- Your concern is noted, though. As always.
* Hiei then casts a last glance toward Yusuke before leading Koenma out of the commissary. For several moments, the four males look around the large room as if lost or out of place. Yusuke takes notice of this after his two friends disappear out the far doorway. His eyes fall on Dagon, mainly.
Yusuke- So.. We meet again,.. I think.
* Kumataro stops the Crow from turning to leave.
Kumataro- Master Hiei told us to stay in here until he summoned us.
* Dagon glares at Kuma.
Yusuke- Have you guys had breakfast yet?
Habataro- Yes, sir, Lord Urameshi.
* Yusuke motions them to follow him when he stands with his cup of coffee.
Yusuke- Please, just call me Yusuke.. I’m not all high ‘n mighty formal.
* Yusuke leads them over to a larger table nearby.
Yusuke- If you’re thirsty they have various beverages here.
Dagon- I could use a beer.
* Yusuke glances at Dagon as they all sit down. He watches Kumataro slap the Crow’s cheek.
Kumataro- Not on my watch, bird.
* Habataro rolls his eyes and looks at Yusuke.
Habataro- Pay no mind to these two.. One’s a slut and the other’s my little brother.
Yusuke- Which is which?
Coutaro- Good question.
* Kumataro and Dagon both glare at Coutaro.
Habataro- Since Master Hiei’s claimed us my brother’s been a bit more.. open.. Then this Crow comes along and, well..
* Kumataro turns to growl at his brother and Yusuke chuckles.
Yusuke- Typical brothers.. You and that one look like twins.
Coutaro- We are. I’m Coutaro, the younger. This is Kumataro.
Habataro- And I’m the eldest, Habataro.
Yusuke- So you all belong to the little guy, huh?
Coutaro- Master Hiei bested my brother Habataro’s energy when they had their first confrontation.
Habataro- I knew right away that I was no match for him.. So I did the honorable thing and conceded to him.
Yusuke- He can have a bit of a nasty streak.. So I can tell you three are some kind of cat species..
Kumataro- Lynx.
Yusuke- Okay. Cool. I’ve met a lot of different kinds of demons, nothing surprises me anymore.
* Yusuke looks at Dagon again. He can tell that the taller, dark demon is doing his best to avoid looking at him.
Yusuke- So how does a bird like you fit in with three cats?
Coutaro- Anyway he can.
* Kumataro and Dagon look at the chuckling younger twin.
Yusuke- Yeah. I think I’m starting to like you guys.. I bet you all drive Hiei up the wall.
Habataro- Lord Hiei is a very good Master to us.
Yusuke- He’s been my friend for quite a few years now.
* Kumataro levels his gaze back at Yusuke as he takes a sip of his coffee.
Kumataro- It’s my understanding that a friend don’t steal their friend’s mate.
* The temperature at the table drops a few degrees. Habataro lowers his eyes and raises a hand to rub at one of his ears.
Kumataro- If Lord Hiei had wanted to he could’ve taken off your head, Toushin.
Habataro- Enough, Kuma.
Coutaro- And been perfectly justified.
* Yusuke looks down into his half-empty cup.
Yusuke- Well, if you knew me better you’d know how stupid I can be sometimes.
* He raises his eyes to look at Dagon again. For several moments they all remain quiet. Finally Yusuke tilts his head.
Yusuke- You know, bird..
Dagon- My name is Dagon.
Yusuke- Whatever.. You remind me of a demon my team fought in a tournament a few..
* It puzzles Yusuke to silence when the Crow moans and drops his head to thump it on the table. The Lynx brothers all chuckle knowingly at each other.
