Scene 14 -------------- One Hour Later/Tourin
* Hiei blinks to a stop on the outer wall surrounding Tourin's main tower. The two guards that were patrolling snap alert a moment. Then they recognize the familiar Fire demon when he rises to a standing position.
Guard #1- Lord Hiei.
Hiei- Is Lord Urameshi here?
Guard #2- He's just preparing to return to Human World.
Guard #1- If you hurry you may..
* Hiei blinks away. The second guard looks back at the first.
Guard #2- I think that was the stupidest thing you've ever said.
* They continue their patrol. When Hiei next appears in front of the main door one of the guards standing beside it quickly opens it for the apparition.
Door Guard- Welcome back, Lord Hiei.
* Hiei grunts and moves inside. He stops when he hears Yusuke yelling for his Second-In-Command.
Yusuke- Hokushin!!
* The Koorime changes direction from heading toward the stairs and heads down the hall toward Yusuke's main office. He leans in the doorway watching his friend frantically going through the drawers of a bureau. The bald monk, Hokushin, enters past Hiei. He glances a slight nod of respect to Mukuro's Second, then turns his attention to his Lord.
Hokushin- Looking for this, Sir?
* Yusuke hurries over to take a small velvet box from him.
Yusuke- Yeah.. Hey, Hiei.
Hokushin- You asked me to have it cleaned. Remember?
Yusuke- I do now. Thanks.
* Yusuke looks at Hiei again as he shoves the box in his jacket pocket.
Yusuke- What brings you here?
Hiei- I was in the neighborhood.
Yusuke- Oh. Well I'm heading out of the neighborhood.
Hiei- So it seems.
Yusuke- Kuwabara's birthday is tomorrow. The gang's throwing a party for him at Genkai's place.
* Hiei grunts, then juts his chin toward Yusuke's pocket.
Hiei- Finally going to propose to the oaf?
* Yusuke flings a drawstring sack over his shoulder.
Yusuke- Sure. You wanna be the best man?
* Hiei falls into step beside Yusuke as he leaves the office. Hokushin follows.
Hiei- Anything to keep the fool away from Yukina.
* Yusuke half glances toward Hiei.
Yusuke- Ya know, you're really gonna have to let that go.. Yukina's happy with Kuwa.
Hiei- I have more important reasons to prevent her from mating with tht human.
Yusuke- I see..
* Yusuke turns at the main door to look at Hokushin.
Yusuke- You know how to reach me if there's a problem you can't handle.
Hokushin- Yes, Sir. Pleasant journey, M'Lord.
* Yusuke nods. He and Hiei leave the tower.
Yusuke- So what's this 'more important reason'?
Hiei- Why am I not surprised that you wouldn't know.
Yusuke- So this is besides the fact that you hate Kuwa?
Hiei- Hn.. He's a human.
* Yusuke pauses their trek to the main gate to look down at Hiei.
Yusuke- Gee, after all these years I thought we were beginning to grow on you.
Hiei- After all this time I'm surprised that you're still an idiot.
Yusuke- You're lucky that I'm in a good mood, Shorty.
* They start walking again.
Yusuke- Perhaps you'd better explain before I go off half-cocked here.
* Hiei glances a smirk up at his friend.
Hiei- Why did you break it off with that harpy of yours?
* Yusuke looks away a couple moments, then he shrugs.
Yusuke- Well, I.. I learned about the Toushin birds-and-bees.. Can you imagine how red my face got when I learned that I had to find a male mate?
Hiei- Hn.. I would have loved to have witnessed that moment.
* Yusuke considers their conversation a moment then stops just outside of the large stone gate to look down at Hiei.
Yusuke- Don't tell me it's something like that for Yukina.. Can she only take a female..?
Hiei- Because Yukina is a female, you idiot.. It would affect her lifespan if she were to mate with any human, not just that idiot.
* Yusuke looks away with a curse as he puts everything together. He then takes the small box out to show Hiei.
Yusuke- Do you have any idea what this is?
Hiei- My jagan can't see into tiny, velvet boxes.
Yusuke- Kuwabara asked me to find him an extra special gemstone here in Demon World and have this ring made..
* Hiei stares blankly up at Yusuke.
Yusuke- You don't get the significance of a guy buying a fancy ring like this..? D---, you still have a lot to learn..
Hiei- Learning is why I came here to see you in the first place.. But not about stupid Human customs..

* For a couple blinks Hiei just glares up at Yusuke.

* The apparition growls. In a blur he snatches the box from Yusuke and takes off. Yusuke yells a curse and gives chase.
