Scene 13
Scene 13 ------------- Meanwhile: Human World
* Staci is working in the garden, doing her share of the lighter tasks around the shrine. As she continues harvesting some beans she’s unaware of being watched. The unseen observer keeps his presence well masked as he scans the area. The Toushin smirks when he discovers that Kuwabara is involved in a quite heavy petting session with Yukina in their bedroom. As he steps out of his hiding place he watches Staci raise up to rub the small of her back. Yusuke hurries over to help her when she starts to lift the small, but full basket of beans.
Yusuke- Here now. You shouldn’t be doing this.
* Staci shies back with a startled gasp. Then she recognizes the handsome, dark-haired male.
Staci- Mr. Urameshi.
Yusuke- Please. Just call me Yusuke.
* She follows him as he carries the basket over to set it on the porch.
Staci- If you’re here to see Kazuma..
Yusuke- He’s pretty preoccupied right now. I know.
* Staci tilts her head up at Yusuke. She can’t help but feel the same nervousness with him that she did when Hiei had returned from Alaric that day. It seems so long ago to her now. Yusuke looks back down at her sensing her nervousness.
Yusuke- Please relax. I know we had a rocky meeting the other day, but I’m not going to hurt you.. I used to be a full human myself a few years ago.
Staci- Really?
Yusuke- Yeah. It’s a long story, I won’t bore you with it right now.
Staci- Why are you here?
Yusuke- I came to see you.. I need your help.
* Staci pauses from moving toward the porch steps. She turns to look back up at Yusuke.
Staci- Me? How could I help you?
Yusuke- If you’ll come take a walk with me I’ll explain.
* She hesitantly glances toward the temple.
Yusuke- I’m not a baby eater, Doll.
* Staci is startled a moment that he read her thoughts, then she mentally slaps herself, ‘Of course he can, you idiot! He’s a demon! They can all read thoughts’. Yusuke chuckles.
Yusuke- Well, not all demons, just certain types.
* The blonde faces Yusuke fully and glares up at him in a manner that reminds him of a certain brunette he knows.
Staci- My name is Staci.. And I still belong to Hiei.
Yusuke- The little guy is my former teammate.. He’s still one of my best friends. I’d never harm you in any way, Staci.
* He offers her an arm in his most gentlemanly manner. She relaxes slowly.
Yusuke- Please, I’m one of the demons that you can trust.. I really do need your help.
Staci- Why don’t you just come inside? Maybe Kazuma can be of more help to you.
* She watches him glance toward the shrine, then shake his head.
Yusuke- I don’t think he’d appreciate us interrupting his.. personal time..
* Staci is puzzled a moment, then she gets the idea and giggles with a slight blush.
Staci- Hai. Those two have been quite.. busy with each other the past couple days.
Yusuke- Really, you’re the only one that can help me with my problem.. Come on, I know a nice easy path we can take. It won’t take long for me to explain my situation.
* Staci sighs and places her arm around his. She listens carefully as he chats and leads her down the path toward the permanent portal between the Human and Demon Worlds.
