Scene 13
Scene 13 ------------- The Mouth Of The Ravine
* Hiei arrives beside the river where it exits out of the canyon. He stares at the river that widens as it flows on its winding path toward the next patch of woods where it disappears within. He looks over his shoulder when he feels Minoro approaching. The larger, younger Hyena male drops to one knee to show his respect.
Hiei- Minoro.
Minoro- Master.
* Hiei turns and motions for him to stand up as he goes over closer to him.
Hiei- So you intend on staying guard here?
Minoro- Somebody has to.. Right now I'm the only one..
Hiei- Your point is valid.. somewhat.. But not the whole reason behind this.
* Minoro tilts his head. Hiei points up to his softly glowing jagan.
Hiei- I've already scanned you.
* Minoro looks away.
Minoro- D--- that third eye of yours.
Hiei- I have to go to that village we passed..
Minoro- You mean the one I couldn't see?
Hiei- Hn.. I'll be gone till sunset tomorrow at least.. When I return we will rectify the problem.
* Minoro swallows when Hiei turns toward the plant barrier.
Minoro- Sir,.. please I..
Hiei- I've let it go with you too long already.
* Minoro sinks to sit down to show his submission again, but mostly to cover up his knocking knees. Not being able to read his master's guarded mood makes him even more apprehensive.
Minoro- W-will I be allowed t-to plead for my life?
* Hiei stops walking away and half turns to look back at his subordinate.
Hiei- You think I'm going to..? D--- it, I don't mind getting the respect my position deserves.. But I would appreciate it if you'd stop seeing me as a sadistic, vengeful.. monster.. What happened to that mouth of yours? Or that spine you used to have?
* Minoro lifts his eyes to meet Hiei's.
Minoro- I've come to respect you.. I see how you care for Mother and the others..
Hiei- Well, you want to know what I see in you?
* The Hyena drops his eyes again.
Minoro- I know what you see.. You see a useless gelding that..
Hiei- It doesn't take physical balls to be brave.. That's what you are, Minoro. You proved that when you confronted that Snake.. And again by offering to stay down here alone.
* Minoro shrugs.
Minoro- The other males are carrying. I won't let them risk their babies.
* Hiei nods.
Hiei- When I return you will be rewarded.. Is that easy for you to understand, Minoro?
* Hiei hmphs as he turns and blurs away, leaving Minoro staring after him.

Okay. That's it for this sequel. Next installment will be HH: Expanding. It will be a bit longer with lots more action and surprises, perhaps. See you there, my faithfuls.. I hope. :o)
