Scene 12
Scene 12 ------------ The Next Morning
* Sylk comes out of one of the extra bedrooms. She’s a little surprised to find Hiei laying on the couch in his large livingroom. She stands quietly until he looks toward her.
Sylk- I thought you’d be in there rolling with your..
Hiei- Don’t start.
* He looks back up at the ceiling.
Sylk- She refused you?
Hiei- No.
Sylk- You’re refusing..?
Hiei- Sylk, d--- it!
* He sits up to glare at her, then sighs and looks away as he draws a knee up to his chest.
Sylk- So you’ve been out here on the couch all night?
Hiei- Hn.
Sylk- You could’ve joined me.
Hiei- I have too much on my mind.
* They glance toward another door when Dagon comes out.
Dagon- You two at it already?
* Hiei looks away with a grunt.
Sylk- Shall I prepare breakfast?
* He doesn’t answer so Dagon waves her away as he comes over to lean on the couch. Hiei can smell Kumataro all over the Crow and looks up at him again.
Hiei- At least you had an enjoyable evening.
Dagon- Wanna share?
Hiei- No.. I want to get this s--- over with so I can go back home.
* Dagon moves around and sits down in front of his Alpha.
Hiei- What?!
Dagon- Nothing.
Hiei- You’re a terrible liar, bird.. And an even bigger slut.
* Dagon looks at him with mock appallment. Hiei waves a hand.
Hiei- Save the theatrics.. I haven’t forgot about that.. conversation in the hammock that day.
* Dagon looks away uneasily.
Hiei- But you listen to me.. Kuma’s not a toy.
Dagon- I know that.
Hiei- He deserves to have someone.. But if you’re going to play around with him I’ll put an end to it.
* He makes Dagon look toward him by snagging a handful of his ebony hair. The Crow automatically submits to his show of authority.
Hiei- You understand me?
Dagon- We didn’t go into this making promises.. He knows how I am.
Hiei- What part didn’t I make clear?
* Dagon sighs.
Dagon- I heard you.. He and I already had this discussion.. He’s the one that’s not ready for anything serious yet.
* After a moment Hiei releases Dagon.
Dagon- When I first met YuYu.. I mean..
Hiei- I know who you mean.
Dagon- I felt a strong attraction to him right away.. That’s partly why I got him away from Matsua.. It was stronger than anything I’d ever felt before in my life.. until I met you.
* He blinks at Dagon a moment then releases him.
Hiei- I can’t do that!
Dagon- Do what?
Hiei- Give you to him!
* Dagon looks deeply into Hiei’s red eyes.
Dagon- I don’t want to belong to him.. I’m yours, Master.. I never regretted that decision.
* Hiei lowers his eyes.
Hiei- Yusuke’s a lot like Kuma.. If he ever gives his heart.. to someone worthy of him.. It’ll be for keeps.
* Dagon studies the Koorime a couple moments.
Dagon- You had it for him, too.. at one time.
* Hiei stiffens but then relaxes, knowing by experience that he can’t hide anything from this subordinate when he’s left himself so open to their bond.
Hiei- Hn.. But then he took in his Sire’s orb.. I now have Mukuro’s.. Are you seeing the problem?
Dagon- D---, that must be rough.. But, hey, once you flare at the ceremony todayYomi’ll probably show up.
* Hiei raises his eyes to look at Dagon again.
Hiei- If I go through with this, that’s a given, Crow.
* Dagon hesitates a couple beats.
Dagon- He’s an S, right?
Hiei- Higher than that.. He and Yusuke are both Quest.
* Dagon reaches over to run his fingers through Hiei’s flame-shaped spikes.
Dagon- Once you rightfully take this position.. they’ll both know that you are, too.
* Habataro comes out of the same bedroom Dagon had. They both watch the Lynx sniff the air deeply.
Habataro- Smells like breakfast.
Hiei- Hn. Sylk’s preparing it.
Habataro- Well, at least she can cook.
* Sylk comes to the arched kitchen doorway to scowl at Hab.
Sylk- It’s on the table waiting for you slobs!
Hiei- Hab, you better wake your brothers before Sylk skins you and the Crow eats all the food.
* Hiei stands from the couch ruffling Dagon’s hair, then goes into the kitchen diverting Sylk’s anger by getting her by the tail and pulling her in with him. Dagon stands and looks toward Habataro.
(#) Dagon- He’s considering refusing.. I think.
(#) Habataro- What? Why, d--- it? After we’ve made this stupid trip here.
* Dagon goes over closer to the Lynx.
(#) Dagon- Friendships.. Lord Urameshi’s.. And some.. Fox demon.
(#) Habataro- A Kitsune? I believe that might be the Youko..
* They both fall silent when Hiei comes back to the doorway to glare at them. Dagon clears his throat.
Dagon- I’ll help you wake your brothers, Hab.
Habataro- Right.
* Habataro nods and they go back into the bedroom together. Hiei lowers his eyes thoughtfully, then shakes his head and goes back into the kitchen. All this thinking is starting to give him a headache.
