Chapter Eleven
Youko ran as fast as his legs would take him. He called out to Hiei with their telepathic connection. “HIEI SOMEONE IS HERE TO TAKE HER AWAY!”
“What?”
“A woman called Queen Shina is here to take Elfleda away!” he wrapped his arms around the smaller demon placing his head on Hiei’s chest.
“Elfleda promised. She will keep it. Even if I force her.”
“No Hiei. You will not force something like that on her!”
“Well what do you expect me to do? You come here in tears cause you are afraid she will leave but you don’t want me to make sure she stays.”
“Hiei I…” Kurama was speechless. He was right. He was acting like a fool. “Let us see what Elfleda has to say.”
The two walked over to the hideout. Elfleda was inside sleeping on one of the smaller beds curled into a tiny ball. Kurama walked over to her and sat on the edge.
“Elfleda. Wake up.” Elfleda slowly opened her eyes, before quickly scooting back with a look of fear in her eyes.
“Who the hell are you?” she placed herself in a fighting stance before she looked over to see Hiei.
“Fox she has never seen you in that form.”
“Oh yes.” Kurama turned back into his human form when she relaxed.
“Hey Kurama. So what brings you here besides scaring me shitless?”
“A woman named Shina is here saying she is going to take you back because you are her heir.”
“Well finally she is here. Well shall we greet her royal highness or hide in the shadows?” The group walked towards Genkai’s but took the long way. Elfleda walked in between the two demons. “Shina has no control over me. I’ll see what she wants then we can go back to our everyday normal selves” she smiled to herself. Them. Normal. It was quite funny to her. Demons, half-breeds, and humans, fighting other demon, half-breeds, and humans to keep the balance of good and evil. They could see the dojo just in front of them. They walked in the front door and were met by the blonde woman and Koemna. Elfleda bowed in respect the stood straight up. “Your majesty.”
“Elfleda!” Shina walked over and placed a hand on Elfleda’s shoulder. “My you have grown these past years.
“400 years and you now come for me?” Elfleda brushed Shina’s hand away from her.
“Elfleda we searched high and low for you but you were nowhere to be found.”
“Yet you are here now to ‘take me away’, to what? A life I never wanted? To take me away from a new set of friends?”
“To bring you back to your people who need you!”
“Well those same people, though I was to be their ruler treated me like shit when you weren’t there. I was an outsider. My family was considered traitorous and I was a thief due to being raised by gypsies. You blatantly ignored me when I called for help in training to advance for me. You knew they were way tougher than me. I ran away to find safety and you know what at least in the jail cells I knew I was going to die in peace. So don’t you dare call those who left me for dead my PEOPLE!” She spit on the floor centimeters from Shina’s foot. “I am to bear the children of two wonderful demons, I am fighting with the strongest of the strong, bravest of the brave. You should leave now before I destroy you.”
Shina looked at her like she had just eaten rotten food. “I… Wh…” She looked Elfleda in the eye. “You are to come with me!” She looked her in the eye. Elfleda had just smirked.
“You see Shina. I renounced my title and my people. I am no longer part of the community. I am no longer under your control.” Shina looked at her wide-eyed. “You will leave this place and not bother us again or I shall invoke my right as heir to the throne and take you down. And you would not want that would you?” Elfleda looked at her with a ‘you better leave now before I sick them on you’ look in her eyes. The group looked between the two women and was in shock that the woman they found was now standing there making threats to royalty and winning. “Now… GO!” Shina looked back with shock before regaining her composure and the stiffness in her body. She glared at Elfleda before turning and snapping her fingers two strong looking men one carrying an umbrella and the other holding a set of bags. Elfleda didn’t watch her leave. She turned away and walked to the room she was given. Kurama sensed it. Something wasn’t right with her.
Kurama followed her to her room and found her sitting on the edge of her bed holding her head in her hands. “Elfleda?” She looked up and tears were running down her face. He sat beside her and she leaned against him. He wrapped an arm around her before she turned into his chest and the sobs came. He held her close rubbing her back as Hiei entered. He looked at his lover and had a look upon his face like ‘what is her problem?’ Kurama shrugged but after a while the sobs quelled. She held up her head.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me.” Elfleda looked at the two of them. “Over 500 years of contempt and anguish released in one burst. Feels good.”
