Scene 11

Well, we’ve reached the last scene of this sequel. I’m going to take a couple days break, then Hiei will begin “Moving” his pack to the fortress. Yeah, I know he wanted to move “in the morning”, but hey he should know by now that nothing ever goes according to plan when you’re dealing with demons in heat. Right? Hehehe. I just love torturing my faves. ;o)

Scene 11 --------------- Yomi’s Office

* The Goat Lord is sitting patiently behind his large desk, in his large comfortable chair, twirling his thumbs. His patience is rewarded when Shura finally slinks in. The blind demon smirks to himself when he feels the level of anxieity on his young son.

Shura- Y-you wanted.. to s- see me, F-Father?

Yomi- Yes I did, son.

* Yomi spins the chair slowly to face the boy.

Yomi- I wanted to let you know that Lord Urameshi came to see Kurama.

* Shura scowls.

Shura- You see, Father?! I told you that Youko couldn’t be..!

Yomi- Lord Urameshi informed me that he came because you called him, Shura.

* Shura swallows, but tries to maintain his plan of action.

Shura- What?! And you believe..?!

Yomi- Son, right now you need to be very thankful that you’re my child and that I love you. Don’t bury yourself any further.

* Shura’s color pales as he falls silent.

Yomi- You should know by now that nothing goes unheard by me in my Territory.. Let alone in my own palace.

* The young demon slowly drops his eyes.

Yomi- I also know why you did this. Do you wish to confess your plot or shall I tell you?

* Before Shura can answer the door flies open and Kurama enters. Shura stiffens and really begins to sweat. The Kitsune gathers himself, trying to retain his own control as much as possible not to just call forth his Rose Whip. He stiffly bows to Yomi as he balls his fists.

Kurama- Pardon my intrusion, Lord Yomi..

Yomi- I knew you were coming, Kurama. Please take a seat.

* Kurama’s tail sways with aggitation, but he curbs his anger and moves to one of the empty armchairs to one side. He sits staring at Shura’s slightly-trembling profile. Shura keeps his eyes averted.

Yomi- Now then, Shura..

Shura- I.. have nothing to say, Father.

Yomi- Then I shall say it.. You plotted all of this to put General Kurama and myself at odds.. You knew you weren’t strong enough to take him out and you couldn’t bring yourself to do me any.. physical harm.

* Shura looks back up at Yomi, his eyes sparkling with unshed tears.

Shura- You’re my Father..!

Yomi- But yet you desire to win this next Tournament so terribly that you planned to pit myself against Kurama.. In hopes that we would eliminate each other.

* Kurama glances toward Yomi then returns his hard golden eyes back on the boy, barely managing to stiffle his growl.

Kurama- Your plot was for nothing, boy! I’m not competing in that d---..

Yomi- But I will be.

* When the meaning of Yomi’s words reveal themselves to Kurama. The Youko lays his ears back as he looks at Yomi again.

Yomi- If we would fight now the outcome would no doubt be that one or both of us would be fatally wounded.. With your knowledge of healing plants perhaps you would survive, Kurama.. But it was my condition that only concerned you, Shura.

Shura- I would never want you dead, Father! Please believe..!

Yomi- Perhaps not dead.. But you wouldn’t mind if I was so gravely wounded that I couldn’t compete.

* Kurama starts to stand to leave quietly. His own anger forgotten with the knowledge of how Yomi must feel.

Yomi- No, don’t leave, Kurama. I will be needing your advice momentarily.

* Kurama hesitantly sits back down. Yomi turns his attention back to Shura who has now bowed his head and clenched his eyes shut to keep his tears from showing.

Yomi- Your underhandedness now makes me wonder about the validity of your most recent report..

* Shura looks back up quickly.

Shura- No, Father! That part was true! It just came at a most opportune.. time for me.. I..

Yomi- Silence.

* Yomi tilts his head back toward Kurama.

Yomi- General Kurama, since my feelings for my son renders me unable to pass the proper judgment..

Kurama- Yomi, don’t put..

Yomi- Tell me. What should the boy’s punishment be?

* Kurama sighs deeply then looks back at Shura. The boy now collapses to his hands and knees, tears flowing freely to the floor in front of him.

Kurama- The usual punishment for treason against you is banishment.. or death.. Depending upon the severity of the trouble caused by said traitor.

* Shura looks up at Kurama, clearly frightened now. The Kitsune keeps his eyes hard and cold.

Shura- I’m not.. a traitor.. Please!

* He looks up at Yomi frantically when he sees no mercy in Kurama’s eyes.

Shura- Father, please..!

Kurama- But since the boy is your son.. And not much harm came of this since it was detected early enough.. I think it would be more proper for you to deal him his punishment in a more.. physical manner.

* Yomi twitches a couple of his ears up a little. Kurama struggles to keep the foxy smirk off of his lips.

Yomi- Physical?

Kurama- Yes. I believe a hundred spankings from you should give him a lot of recovery time to consider his actions.

* Yomi rubs his chin thoughtfully. Kurama can almost imagine a certain observing godling rolling on his office floor in hysterics. Yomi finally sighs.

Yomi- Very well. Stand up, Shura.

* Shura hesitantly gets to his feet, still sniffling and trembling.

Yomi- Return to your room and wait for me there, son.. And if you try to hide from me your punishment will be doubled when I find you. And I will find you. Now go.

* Shura turns and leaves quickly. Kurama watches Yomi keep his ears up listening for a few moments. The Goat then turns his face toward him.

Yomi- Now then, Kurama. I owe you an apology.

Kurama- In light of what I just learned, none is needed, Yomi.

Yomi- Because of my foolishness I stressed you on a day that you should be clearly celebrating, my friend.. Your first heir has been born.

Kurama- Shishi had a baby girl.

* Yomi hesitates only a brief moment.

Yomi- Such petty things have little meaning anymore, don’t they, Kurama?

* Kurama relaxes for probably the first time during this very busy day.

Kurama- Hai. I am pleased with my daughter. I’ve named her Shiori.

* Yomi chuckles.

Yomi- Of course you would. But it’s a lovely name. Your Human Mother would be very honored, I’m sure.

* Yomi leans back in his chair and sighs.

Yomi- Ahh, if only my offspring had been a girl.

* Kurama stands.

Kurama- Shura is what you, yourself, designed him to be, Yomi.

* When Yomi makes no attempt to deny his words Kurama starts toward the door.

Yomi- Kurama, you and your pack are still safe here.. I would be very honored if you would decide to stay.

Kurama- I’ll consider my decision.

Yomi- As far as whatever is going on in Mukuro’s Territory, with your short little friend.. We’ll wait and see what happens.

* Kurama turns to look back at Yomi guardedly a couple moments.

Kurama- May I be dismissed, M’Lord?

Yomi- Of course. Give your daughter a kiss for me. I’ll be sending her a gift soon.

* Kurama bows and leaves. Yomi sits still, enjoying the silence of his office a few moments. Then he sighs deeply and stands to leave and carry out Shura’s punishment.
