Scene 11 ------------------ Early The Next Morning

* When Mukakai wakes up still sitting in the chair he finds his lap empty. A spike of panic jolts through him until he scans the dimly-lit room. He finds the boy over on his bed inspecting one of his swords. Mukakai moves to light the two torches. He notices the boy watching with curious fascination, out of the corner of his eyes, as he uses small bursts of his energy to light them. The general then goes over to the bed.

Mukakai- Here, give me that.. It's not a toy and it's twice as big as you are.

* The boy growls until Mukakai chuckles. He tilts his head, curious of the weird sound.

Boy- You growl.. funny.

Mukakai- That wasn't growling, it was chuckling.. laughing..

* The child lowers his eyes, but Mukakai places a hand on his head to rub it affectionately.

Mukakai- No, I wasn't laughing at you, Little One.. It's not always a bad thing when someone makes that sound.

Boy- That other did it.. His noise makes me angry.

* Mukakai sighs and nods as he moves toward his closet.

Mukakai- Good. I'm glad you feel that way toward that little b------.

* The dark boy looks back up at Mukakai.

Boy- B------.. What that..?

* Mukakai clears his throat as he returns to the bed with one of his nightshirts.

Mukakai- Never mind, Son. Some things you don't need to learn too soon.. Here, stand up.

* The boy obeys, but eyes the strange thing Mukakai has in his hands. He leans away with a hiss when the general raises the shirt to put it on him.

Mukakai- Whoa, easy.. I'm not going to hurt you.. Let me put this on you..

Boy- Why?

Mukakai- Because you're naked.

* The boy relaxes, but glances down at himself puzzledly.

Boy- Na-keed?

* Mukakai chuckles again. This time the small boy looks up at him with a grin that shows a hint of one of his tiny fangs. The general hesitates briefly at the sight of the little hybrid's naturally sinister expression. The older demon then clears his throat again and carefully slips the shirt over the boy's shaggy head. Mukakai then steps back to look him over. Before fully thinking to explain himself the general reaches to get his sharp pair of shears off of the sidetable. When he turns back he stares at the crumpled, empty shirt laying on the bed. He turns to find the boy crouched on his dining table. He averts his eyes quickly when he sees that the jagan is wide open. Mukakai gathers the shirt up.

Mukakai- If we're going to be friends you need to trust me, Son..

Boy- Not yours! - Am I?

* Mukakai feels his mind being probed and decides to stay calm as he answers.

Mukakai- No.. Please, be careful using your third eye..

Boy- You scared of it.

* Mukakai nods wholeheartedly. Almost immediately he feels the probe pulled back. Mukakai carefully turns and indicates his own clothes.

Mukakai- I'm wearing clothes.. Everyone wears clothes.. most of the time..

* The hybrid raises up to his full three-foot height as the general makes his way over calmly.

Boy- Most of the time..?

Mukakai- Hai.

* Once more the boy allows Mukakai to slip the nightshirt onto him. This time Mukakai raises the shears carefully to show him.

Mukakai- I'm just going to use these to make my shirt fit you.. I'm not going to hurt you.

* The boy watches the older demon begin to do the cutting carefully a few moments, then relaxes enough to begin asking his curious questions again.

Boy- So when do I not wear this?

Mukakai- Uhh.. ummm.. Well, when you take a bath you take it off.

Boy- Bath?

Mukakai- Yes. You'll learn about that some other time.. You only do it when you get dirty.

Boy- Dirty?

* Mukakai glances up and notices the scowl on the little demon's face.

Mukakai- What?

Boy- B------ said Mother was.. dirty..

Mukakai- Well, she wasn't. Your mother was a very powerful demoness.

Boy- You know her?

* Mukakai bends to finish his task, turning the boy around to get the back of the shirt.

Mukakai- Hai.. I knew her quite well..

Boy- Where is she? I have to find them..

* The boy swings back around to look up at Mukakai hopefully.

Boy- You know my Fathers, too!

Mukakai- Father.. You only have one..

* The boy growls again.

Boy- B------ is not my Father! I have to find them.. He wants to hurt them..

Mukakai- Them? Why do you..?

* Suddenly, the general remembers about all the blood donors that were used to hybridize this child. He raises an eyebrow as he wonders if the boy thinks all of them are his Fathers. But, if so, how could he have been so aware of what was going on while he was in that glass "womb".

Mukakai- You, Little One, are a very smart boy.

* Something about these words makes the small boy smile again. Mukakai returns the small.

Mukakai- You really are very cute when you smile like that.

Boy- Smile? What is that?

Mukakai- That. What you're doing with your mouth right now.

* The dark boy tilts his head again and raises a tiny hand to touch his mouth curiously. Mukakai shakes his head when he begins to scrunch and twist his lips around in different expressions.

Mukakai- Never mind.. You'll figure it out.. Now stand still so I can finish working on your shirt.

* The boy drops his hands and stands stock still as the general finishes downsizing the shirt all around until it falls to a decent length between his knees and his ankles. When Mukakai is done he stands back to examine his slightly ragged handiwork. He finally shrugs with a deep sigh.

Mukakai- It'll do for now. I'll get you something better later on. Now, are you hungry?

* When the boy tilts his face up at him again the general raises a hand to rub his forehead. It's too early in the morning for him to develop such a migraine.

Mukakai- Never mind, Boy. Just stay here.

* When Mukakai starts to move toward the fireplace the Boy hops off the table easily to follow. Mukakai turns back to him and picks him up.

Mukakai- No..

* The child growls as Mukakai sits him back on the table.

Mukakai- Stay.. That means don't move. I'm going to go fix you something to eat.. Okay?

* When the boy doesn't respond, except to blink his eyes, the general sidles away toward the fireplace again. He rolls his eyes when he realizes that the boy is going to stay frozen like this. 'Perhaps that's not such a bad thing', he mutters to himself mentally. He turns away to begin putting a quick morning meal together.
