Book 4 - Chapter 6

Chapter 6

*~Four years ago ~*

“Lord Koenma, you called for me?”

The eighteen-year-old Amaya Saikoubi stood before Koenma Daioh, dressed in her usual clothing when she was fulfilling her duties as a spy for the Spirit World. Her blue hair was pulled back and braided, her green kimono shirt and black gi pants both dark colored to help her blend into the scenery. She held her long bow in her hand, a quiver of arrows on her back, and her sword at her side. While her swordsmanship was decent, her skills as an archer were unsurpassed, even among demons.

“Yes Saikoubi. I need you to do a bit of reconnaissance work. Do you know of the Demon Mukuro?”

She nodded. “I have heard of it. A former demon lord, has a camp in the mountains.”

“Do you know where it is?”

“Hai. I haven’t been there before, but I know where it is.”

The small boy in front of her smiled, though it was hidden by the ‘pacifier’ in his mouth. “I need you to go there and see if anything is going on. I have heard rumors of an uprising in the encampment. Find out what you can and report back in six months.”

The girl nodded and did as she was told. She didn’t enjoy being a spy for the spirit world, but it was something to do. She didn’t remember anything that happened before she was sixteen, but she knew it had something to do with death and pain. She had her regular job as a waitress in a coffee shop, which brought in enough money for her to survive, but that’s what it felt like, survival. She just existed to fulfill the whims of Koenma Daioh and his father, gathering information in the demon world about various entities they wished gone. Her’s was not the fight, but the finding of information. There were other’s who fought.

She sighed as she left. She wondered if there was anything about this that made it worth it.
