Dannigurl: Hey everyone! Thank you for the reviews, they mean a lot to me. It won’t be too long before the story ends so I’ll try to update as soon as I can. LOL I’m sorry Kyoden. I should have been clearer on the Karasu thing. I had previously planned to let it actually be Hiei but it seemed that everyone didn’t want Hiei to be an asshole. I wanted him to be because I was frustrated by the numerous pairings of him and Kurama so I decided that I wanted a little revenge. Anyway I changed the plot but I’ll explain how Karasu fit into everything in this chapter. This is when Kurama finally talks to Yusuke for the first time since “that night.” Maybe. Without anymore of my babbling…….Chapter 11…

Chapter 11 : GREAT PARTY
`````````````````````````````````````````````
He just couldn’t seem to pry his eyes away from him. There he was sitting there like everything was A-Okay, when it couldn’t be farther from the truth. He felt a rage that had become very familiar over the last month roll over him like thunderous waves. He had tried to harness that rage by using it as an extra drive in his training. Genkai had complemented his focus and determination.
But it hadn’t helped. No matter how far he pushed himself, how many bones he broke or how much blood he spilled, he couldn’t stop the image of that beautiful face from slipping into his every waking thought. Every night he was tormented by memories of when they had been together. Holding hands in the park or making love under the stars. He would often smell roses or see Genkai sipping tea and his love’s face would appear before him.
He had stayed away for that month, hoping that the pain would lessen even a little and it did, that was of course before he saw Kurama again. During the past month, he had been returning to the human world quite often, mostly to see Evan. The night that he had found Kurama and Hiei together, he had passed by the café where Evan worked and went in to speak to him. And that had been the beginning of their friendship until last night.
Yusuke had went to Evan’s house last night to just hang out. He needed a distraction and Evan was the only one that could provide that distraction. They had talked into the wee hours of the morning when Evan had kissed Yusuke. It had been a chaste kiss with the promise of something more if Yusuke gave his consent….which he did. No need to say what happened after that.
Now Yusuke looked at the man that still held his heart or what was left of it. His crimson hair shone with an unimaginable brilliance, the complete opposite to the seemingly lifeless green eyes. His voice was subdued but it still had the effect to light up the room. *He looks as beautiful as ever* Yusuke thought before abruptly shaking the thoughts from his head.
There was no doubt that he had been surprised when Kurama had answered the door earlier. He had hoped that Kurama had showed up at Kuwabara’s party so that he could show the red-head that he didn’t need him and that he could move on just as easily Kurama had. But he had forgotten everything about moving on when he had looked into emerald orbs. All he had wanted to do was to wrap his arms around the other man and kiss him like nothing had every happened.
He had dismissed that thought as soon as it had entered his mind. He hardened his heart, clenched his jaw, willed his love for the youko away and coldly spoken to him as if they had never whispered words of love and longing to each other. It had pained his heart to be so close to Kurama without being to touch him or to tell him how much he stilled loved him. But every time he laid eyes upon his former lover, he could only see visions of what he and Hiei had probably done. Those visions were enough to make him keep his hands to himself. It was at that moment that he swore to never let Kurama or anyone get close enough to hurt him again. He was through with love and all the bullshit that cam along with it.
Now he is sitting with Evan, his new boyfriend, yet he paid no attention to him. His eyes were riveted to man that had tormented his dreams for what seemed like a lifetime. *He doesn’t even know what he does to me. Can’t he tell that I’m looking at him or is he so wrapped up in Hiei?* As if reading Yusuke’s thoughts, Kurama turned looked at Yusuke. They stared at each other for quite a while, both ignoring Kuwabara’s attempt to ease the tension in the room.
They continued to stare, each telling their story. One of hatred, the other telling a tale of desparation. Yusuke broke the heated gaze, his eyes traveling to Hiei’s hand that had found itself on Kurama’s leg. He felt his anger and his power level rise but he quickly squashed that anger. Kurama had obviously made his choice and has moved on. He needed to do the same. Taking his eyes off the pair, he turned his attention to his new interest. Leaning close, he whispered into Evan’s ear, grabbing the other man’s hand and rising to his feet. The two made their way toward the backyard, neither paying attention to the steaming red-head.
Kurama took a great interest in his immaculate fingernails. He didn’t need to look up to see Yusuke and that whore of a boyfriend, Evan to know that they had left the party to parts unknown. He didn’t need to use his eyes to know that Yusuke hadn’t even looked at him to see his reaction. He would know if he had looked at him. He always got a certain feeling as those eyes touched on him but he didn’t feel anything but a cold chill when Yusuke and *him* walked by. Moving on from his fascinating fingernails, he picked some imaginary lint off his clothes. He could feel the eyes of the others on him, trying to pick his most intimate thoughts from his mind in a deafening silence. *I can’t take this anymore.*
“I’m going to the bathroom.” Kurama announced unnecessarily, quickly exiting the room to seek refuge in Kuwabara’s spacious bathroom. His reflection stared back at him and for a moment he couldn’t believe that he was looking at himself. His hair hung flat and limp, some of its shine and bounce diminished. Grey shadows lined his dull green eyes, which were red rimmed because of lack of sleep. His normally fair skin looked sickly and pale even to his own eyes.
Sighing as he has been doing a lot during the past month, he turned on the facet, splashing the refreshing coldness of water onto his face. He stood up, letting the water run down his face in tiny streams. He opened his eyes to find Evan’s smug expression next to his. Kurama held back a frustrated groan and let his face slip into a calm, tranquil mask. He waited for Evan to say what he obviously came to say and he didn’t have to wait very long.
“I remember you. You are with Yusuke. Before me, that is.” He said, a smug smile playing at his lips.
“Yes, you are correct. What of it?” Kurama said struggling not to be baited by the other human. He gripped the edge of the sink, his fingers crumbling the marble without any effort.
“Nothing. I guess I was just wondering why you would let Yusuke go. He is obviously sought after but you seemed to let him slip through those fingers of you. Or is it the other way around? Did Yusuke let go of you? He seemed pretty eager to jump into my bed and me, if you get my drift. What’s happened Kurama? You couldn’t keep him satisfied. Is your beauty just a mask for your other……inadequacies?” Evan taunted.
While running off at the mouth, Evan had failed to realize that there was suddenly a vast amount of black roses that surrounded him. The vines that held the prophetic and highly dangerous roses traveled out the bathroom door and intimately caressed the walls of the living room until there was not a room that did not have the presence of one of the roses. The people in the living room knew what that meant and wisely stayed seated. No one in their right mind would confront Kurama when the roses made their appearance.
Kurama whipped around to face Evan, grabbing him by the throat and lifting him easily into the air. Evan’s eyes widened to enormous proportions as his supply of air shortened. He looked into the crazed eyes of the man that held him, only to them not their original color but a glowing amber. He watched in confusion as parts of Kurama’s hair changed into streaks of white. His eyes shifted back to Kurama’s all the while gasping for air.
“Do you know how easily I could kill you, weakling? I can end your pathetic life in the blink of an eye and never get caught by those stupid people called the police. I can snap your neck or incinerate your filthy body until there is no trace of your disgusting existence. It would give me great pleasure to do this but I will not for you are not worthy spending an eternity in hell. But do not push me for I will forget this instantly. If you value your life, don’t say shit to me. Or I will fucking kill you before you blink again.” Kurama said in a feral growl, a mixture of his normal and youko voice.
Without any movement from their creator, the flowers in the bathroom and only the ones in the bathroom, opened their petals. A hissing sound was made as the roses released a slightly pink gas from their cores. A smile graced Kurama’s pink lips with just a touch of evil. “This was just a little experiment. I wanted to create something that would leave my enemies unconscious with just a hint of pain and I came up with this gas. It’s not supposed to be lethal or fatal but then again everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Hope for your sake I didn’t.”
Kurama gave a low chuckle as Evan’s eyes widened with panic. He was enjoying this too much. He swiveled his head toward the door, feeling Yusuke coming toward him. He felt Evan’s hand loll against his hand as the gas took effect. He unceremoniously dropped Evan’s puny body with a thump. With a snap of his fingers, the flowers disappeared. He turned around as Yusuke entered the room. Kurama spared the dark hair youth a glance before brushing past him toward the front door. This party had lost any of its potential enjoyment.
Yusuke had been in the backyard when he had felt the ominous rise of Kurama’s energy and the feel of a vine adorned with black roses wrap itself seductively around his leg. He had instantly knew something was wrong and went back to find Evan. He went to the bathroom with Kurama standing over the prone of one Evan. He looked at Kurama who’s eyes were not his own as he brushed past him out the bathroom.
Yusuke kneeled next to Evan, checking to see if he had a pulse before he went after Kurama, who was already out of the house and heading toward the street. By this time Kurama was once again in full control of his rage and has returned to his normal self yet he felt no remorse over what he did. In fact he felt that he went extremely easy on Evan.
“Kurama! What the fuck did you do him? He’s only the floor lying like a vegetable with his eyes staring at absolutely nothing!! What’s did you do to him?!!” Yusuke screamed his frustration erupting as he faced the man that still made his heart skip several beats. Kurama stared at him dispassionately, holding himself in stubborn silence. “Damn it Kurama, ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION!!!”
“I don’t have to answer shit Yusuke, at least not until you lower your fucking voice.” Kurama said heatedly. He watched as Yusuke visibly forced himself to calm down.
“Fine. I’ve lowered my voice now tell me what the hell is going on and is he going to be okay? What did you do to him? Why did you do that to him?” Yusuke asked as nicely as he could.
“He’ll be fine in a few hours. I just made him unconscious. It is not that big of a deal. I did it cause the piece of shit deserved it. If I were you I would tell him to stay the fuck away from me or he will regret it.” Kurama said softly, his eyes as hard as steel.
“Why are you acting like this? Since when have you used your power on innocent humans just because of your jealousy?”
“Jealous? Of him? Not possible. You and Evan do not have what we had and still do have. You can’t have that again Yusuke, not with anyone but me. You can fool yourself and think that you are over me but I know better. Our love surpasses anything that I have yet encountered and a single month cannot diminish that.”
Yusuke gave a bitter snort that was supposed to be laughter. “Don’t you get it Kurama. We had nothing and we have nothing now.” Yusuke tried to curb the feeling of his heart breaking as he said those untrue words. “If we had this love that you are talking about then we would still be together. There is nothing that can convince me that we should be together. Give up. I know I have. It’s not worth the pain or torment of hoping that something good will happen and you’re not worth it either.”
Kurama didn’t even try to stop the flow of tears that ran silently down his face. Well he didn’t have to wonder if Yusuke ever thought they would get back together. He had his answer. Yusuke didn’t love him anymore. In fact it seemed like he never really loved him at all. Love just didn’t turn on and off like a light whenever you want it. But somehow Yusuke had managed to accomplish that seemingly impossible feat.
“Well at least I am no longer confused. I had foolishly thought that you felt the same way I had but apparently I was wrong. Did you ever love me Yusuke or was that just an excuse to have sex with me? No wait….don’t answer that. I don’t think I can handle it.” Mimicking Yusuke’s bitter laugh, Kurama turned around and kept walking toward the street. Without out turning around, his final words drifting toward his former lover softly, “I tried to make you happy Yusuke. I really did. I’m sorry I failed us.”
Yusuke watched as a distraught Kurama walked swiftly out of sight, tears blinding him. The spirit detective fought the urge to run after the only person that made him complete. He felt as if his heart had left with Kurama and he might never get it back. Yusuke turned around to go back to the house, his body, soul, and mind, screamed for him to run after Kurama and wrap his arms around him, telling him that he forgave him and that they would work everything out. But his pride stopped him. The memory of Hiei and Kurama in each other’s arms still haunted him at night. He wasn’t ready to forgive or forget. That was until he heard the screech of skidding tires and felt a sharp decrease of Kurama’s energy.
Dannigurl: I kinda didn’t get a chance to explain Karasu’s part in everything but I ensure that it will occur in the next chapter. I hope you guys like this Chapter sorry if it sounds like a soap-opera but I did warn you that it wouldn’t be the last time. I can’t help it. Please REVIEW and give me your feedback.
