Author's Note

Geez, I really seem to have a preference for this story, seeing as I have ignored
all my other stories. Seriously, I think that I've bitten off more than I can chew.

Also, the lack of Reviews last chapter really disappointed me guys. What's wrong?
Am I moving too slow with the story or what? Why aren't you guys reviewing so much
anymore?

I really wanna know guys. Why haven't you been rating and reviewing anymore?
I wanna know why.

Anyways~! Enjoy the story okay?

Recap

By morning, Kurama had several hickies and a new

mating mark from Hiei. The ritual was complete,

Hiei was no longer in danger of dying. However, there

was a new hurdle to overcome. Kurama's dislike

of Hiei, and Hiei's distrust of Kurama. Hiei was

currently asleep, tangled up in Kurama's sheets

while Kurama sat on the edge of his bed on the opposite

side, head buried in his hands as he sat there and

thought. He was so angry at Hiei still, but confused.

What had he done? He knew Hiei slept with exhaustion from

their over eager sexual activity, which was mainly his

fault, but still!

Kurama had a lot of thinking to do.

End Recap

When Hiei stirred the next morning, he was sticky

with his seed and Kurama's seed, plus sweat and all that other

jizz that came with a good, long round of sex. Hiei's

ruby orbs, once they blinked into focus, narrowed on the

form sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands.

The only reason Hiei even knew whom it was besides the Ki was

the bright red hair that he had grown used to seeing and

fantasized, at one point, about touching. Hiei, not knowing

or understanding why Kurama was upset reached out a hand to

touch Kurama's shoulder. However, just as his fingers were

brushing Kurama's shoulder, Kurama whipped around so fast and

slapped his hand away, that even Hiei didn't sense or see

Kurama moving.

Kurama whispered, his voice cold, icy even "Don't. Just

don't touch me." Hiei didn't know why but he didn't like that

voice. However, he obeyed anyways and sat back. He wasn't

offended at being slapped away, he expected it almost. After

all, Kurama had been forced to give up his happiness for someone

so...unworthy. Hiei backed off. Before he could even get off

the bed however, he found his back slamming into the wall, and

a furious Kurama pressing their hips together. Kurama, was angry

and upset. He had been forced to give up everything by Hiei!

Everything! His wife, his unborn child, his mother, his human

life, his human friends, everything! Just because of something

he didn't even remember doing! Kurama with a snarl slammed

Hiei's back down onto the floor of the cave.

All Hiei could do was stare up at Kurama. Yet, this seemed

to make the mild mannered man angrier. Kurama's hands wrapped

them selves around Hiei's throat in a tight grip. Hiei struggled,

clawing at the hands wrapped around his throat. He didn't draw

blood though. Hiei relaxed his grip and stared up at Kurama as

he let Kurama choke the life out of him. Hiei wouldn't do it,

couldn't do it. He couldn't fight his mate, his lover. He

couldn't kill Kurama.

But Kurama could kill him. The look in his eyes said that he

could. This sham of a relationship of theirs was a relationship

purely out of convenience for Kurama. For Hiei, it wasn't by choice.

Kurama, rather, the youko in Kurama, wanted to control him. He was

a powerful ally, even Kurama had said so. Kurama wanted to control

him, not only because he was a powerful ally, but because he was

rebellious in the group. He was uncontrollable. Being the mate of

Hiei, especially the dominant mate meant you could control him and

make him do whatever you wanted. Hiei wouldn't be able to fight it.

Kurama knew that, well, perhaps the youko knew that.

As Hiei stared up at Kurama, his face took on a blue tint as he

began to choke to death. Kurama released him, still angry, but he

managed to allow him to breathe enough. Yet, Kurama was still angry

as Hiei sat up and gave Kurama, not an accusing or angry look, but

a look that was blank, it pierced Kurama to his soul, as if Hiei

could see why Kurama was angry and didn't hate him for it. That

maddened Kurama even more. How dare Hiei assume he knew him with

that kind of look? How dare Hiei! Kurama was angry, and he was

making mistakes he rationally knew he wouldn't have made. In his

rage over the loss of his unborn child, wife, and the life he had

always craved, he took the easy way out. He blamed Hiei for everything.

Hiei, whom had never found fault in Kurama, never sought to assume

anything. Hiei, whom should have been angrier than Kurama and tried

to kill Kurama, sat where he'd been thrown down by Kurama, and stared,

waiting for Kurama to calm down. Hiei knew Kurama was venting, and he

would let Kurama vent. Kurama didn't stop any time soon however. He kept

fuming for awhile.

Finally, when Hiei thought Kurama had calmed down, he approached

Kurama. Kurama had gotten up and paced, and fumed. He had come to a

stop on the bed, an arm thrown over his face, covering his eyes as he

remained angry under his arm. Hiei touched Kurama's arm lightly and

he said softly, his voice neither warm, nor cold "Kurama." Kurama sat

up and said, his tone an icy fury "Dammit Hiei. I told you to not

fucking touch me." Hiei resisted the urge to flinch. Kurama never

swore, never, and now, he just had sworn at Hiei. Hiei felt hurt

almost, and he didn't let it show since Kurama didn't need that now.

Hiei sat back on the bed, giving Kurama his space. Kurama sat up

and screamed angrily "Dammit Hiei! Don't stare at me like that!

STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT GODDAMMIT STO-" Kurama stopped. In his

rage, he had slashed Hiei, intent on smacking Hiei. However, he

had never noticed in his rage that his hand lengthened and nails

sharpened into claws. In horror, he looked at his bloody hand and

watched it change back into his human hand.

Kurama was almost scared to look at HIei and see what he had

done to Hiei. Kurama did it however, and what he saw, shocked him

to his core. Long gashes ran down Hiei's face, his face ribbons of

blood. His smooth pale face was gone, it was opened by gashes and

covered in blood from Kurama's own hand. That wasn't what stopped

Kurama's rage though. Hiei's eyes had stopped Kurama's gaze. Long

gashes covered each eye, forcing them shut. Kurama, in horror,

grabbed Hiei's chin harshly and commanded, his voice quivering in

fear, "Hiei, look at me! Look at me now dammit!" Hiei's eyes

opened. Kurama release Hiei's chin and scrambled back, off the

bed in horror as Hiei's eyes closed again. What had he done?

He-It was all his fault. Kurama, whispered, his voice broken with

sobs. "I-I'm so sorry Hiei!" Kurama broke into a run and ran away.

Kurama had made Hiei blind.
