Life Goes On

Scene 10 ------------------------------------------- Two Days Later

* After too many close calls of being caught by his ferrally amorous pursuer, which he's been maneuvering back toward his own Toushin tower, Hiei comes to a crouching pause on a boulder. He looks around quickly as he heaves. He feels Yusuke come to a stop nearby, but remains calm as he opens his third eye. The koorime hopes he's close enough to reach his plea for help to another familiar presence he feels in the distance.


Yusuke- Getting tired, shorty?

Hiei- Like h--- I am.. You?

Yusuke- H-- no.. Why don't we chase some more? I'm starting to get.. warmed up.


* As Yusuke chuckles Hiei gets a satisfactory, albeit distant, response from the mind he has contacted. Hiei then slips the ward back into place and half glances toward Yusuke. Hiei's own heat, at this point, is in too early a stage to be completely affected by the Toushin's repeated assaults of dominant aura.


Hiei- Sounds good.. Come and catch me, Detective..


* The overly-emphasized name gives Yusuke enough pause for his quarry to get a good jump on him. With a chuckling growl, though, his instincts urge back to the surface when he notices the disappearing black blur. The chase of flitting entities continues for another hour before Hiei pauses when Yusuke's aura suddenly disappears. 'Has the fox..?' Before he can even finish the thought he finds himself tackled in the middle of a stretch of sand. Yusuke uses the koorime's surprise to effectively trap him and pin him down to the firm, hot sand.


Yusuke- Hmm.. Caught you by surprise.. I must be getting better.


* Hiei swallows and gasps for air as he looks up into Yusuke's flashing blue eyes, 'Oh, s---!' is the only thought he can settle on for a moment. Then Hiei's face takes on the deep scowl he's become famous for.


Hiei- So.. Now you will force yourself on me?

Yusuke- Hiei,...

* Hiei snarls and snaps up at Yusuke's face, 'Where is that d--- fox!?'


Hiei- I'm mated, d--- you!!

Kurama- Yusuke.


* The sensual sound of the lilting voice captures the Toushin's full attention. Yusuke quickly looks toward the alluring form that has come to a stop not too far away. The silver kitsune calmly assesses the situation as his tail sways slowly behind him. Kurama's golden eyes meet Hiei's angry red ones briefly. Youko then waves his large bushy tail toward them.


Kurama- Why don't you come play with me, Love?


* Yusuke's decision is immediate. Hiei sits up to watch Yusuke follow his nose to his awaiting mate. The koorime watches the pair come together to begin kissing passionately. After a brief feeling of emptiness, Hiei pushes it away then sighs as he gets to his feet wearily. He rights his cloak, glances toward the two again, then blinks away. Yusuke works away from Kurama when he feels Hiei leaving. But the Youko gently catches Yusuke's arm.


Kurama- (Quietly) No, Yusuke.. He's not ready, koi.


* Yusuke hesitantly looks back up at Kurama. Since he's a bit calmer now he understands the meaning of his mate's words. He also swallows when he realizes how close he came to doing something he really didn't want to do. He turns and embraces Kurama, burying his face shamefully against the muscular chest. Equally muscled arms raise to encircle him, feeling his Alpha's shame.


Kurama- Your instincts are strong..

Yusuke- If you hadn't showed up..

Kurama- Listen to me, Love.. Your instincts would not have allowed you to complete the act.


* Slowly Yusuke looks up at Kurama. The kitsune smiles softly.


Kurama- You heard me.. It's against Toushin nature to take another demon's mate.. If I hadn't got here in time you still would have let him go.

Yusuke- I wish I was as sure of that as you are, Kurama.. It sure felt like I was ready to..

Kurama- When you went for his neck you would have been repelled by the mark that's already there.. It's similar to how you're drawn every now and then to refresh mine.


* Yusuke sighs and lowers his eyes again.


Yusuke- (Quietly) I hope you're right.. Cause I'd never want to hurt him..


* Kurama nods and wraps his arms around his mate again, nuzzling his nose against Yusuke's neck to console him. The kitsune closes his eyes as he feels Hiei's faint energy disappear far off in the distance.
