“Yes dear, I know you’re taking your time but I’m getting older by the day. Your brother will settle down before you at this rate. I just want you to be happy, nothing more. We hardly see you now.” Shiori took a sip of her tea knowing that the guilt trip wouldn’t help persuade her son any. It just needed to be said and she was his mother after all. “I still don’t understand why you took that position. The one here would have paid more plus you’d be closer to your family. Why go so far away? I heard you were also offered a chance to advance after a few years. Then you don’t even come around that much. I’m lucky to see you once a month, and you don’t stay long then.”

“I’m sorry but the choice was mine, mother. I just needed a change, the money doesn’t mean much. I still manage to make a decent living with my position. As soon as things settle down I’ll try to come visit more often.” Kurama didn’t want to see the look of disappointment crossing her face. It hurt to be so far away from his family but he couldn’t stay. Not now, he had to wait until he could accept what could never be. Shiori had been demanding to know what was haunting him for years. Two years ago he had to leave for his own sanity. Not to mention to preserve what friendship him and Yusuke still had. How could he explain to everyone what was weighing so heavy on his heart?

“Settle? It’s been two years since you’ve gone out there. How long before you stop shutting your family out? Whatever it is you can talk to me. Did something happen with your friends? I’ve noticed that they’ve stopped calling for you.” Shiori was guessing it being problems with the opposite sex but she’d never seen him serious about anyone. The only girl he’d talked to frequently before his sudden departure had been Yusuke’s girlfriend. “Oh, last week when I was in town picking up your father’s medication I ran into your one friend. I believe her name was Keiko, such a sweet girl. She asked about you, I told her you were coming this weekend for dinner. Shame she had to work.”

“Yes, it is.” It was a blessing in disguise to him. Kurama wasn’t sure if he could have dealt with spending dinner with the girl. For the first year after Yusuke’s return he’d been able to contain his thoughts and feelings. He’d been so shocked that day on the train. Upon meeting Keiko he’d been aware of the resemblance, it had been ignorable. As he spotted her that day his throat had tightened in pain. With her hair long and maturing for two years Keiko’s looks had changed greatly. She was still Yusuke’s girlfriend but a harsh reminder of his past. He knew it wasn’t HER but the resemblance was uncanny except for a few minor details. The hair for starters, it wasn’t the right color. The attitude was the complete opposite, along with a few distinguished marks that had placed upon the woman from his past. If not for the centuries that had passed he’d believe that she’d come back to haunt him.

“Perhaps you should call her, she seemed concerned about you.” Shiori smiled seeing the emotions flashing briefly. She had her guesses but he’d never open up. That girl was smart, pretty, well mannered and seemed to care for her son. It was a shame she was taken already by a slob that couldn’t keep a job. She liked Yusuke but he wasn’t good enough for that girl. Someone like that needed someone responsible and caring, someone like Shuichi. “She’s the only that still calls often, you should contact her.”

“I will,” No, he wouldn’t. Talking to her was the last thing he needed right now. He was too confused about his own emotions to see Keiko. For a year he felt the emotions stirring and growing. The attraction had been undeniable, it was unstoppable. When he caught himself staring, his blood stirring at the sight of her he knew it was time to leave. He was tempted to seduce his friend’s woman. So he’d taken an out of town position as a means of escape. He hadn’t seen anyone but Hiei in over two years. It was better this way, at least for him and Keiko. At least until his heart and body could accept that Keiko wasn’t her. She wasn’t the woman he’d loved in the past, she wasn’t Saiki.

Keiko snorted as Yusuke shoved Kuwabara off the couch as the red team scored. She really didn’t care about sports and never would. She wasn’t even sure why those two were into it. It was almost as bad as them concerts they were always going to. The only real complaint about those was she usually paid for the two tickets and neither were used for her entry. The oven beeped signaling that dinner was done. A dinner she wouldn’t be enjoying once more but she’d just grab a bite to eat on the way home. She didn’t plan on staying long just checking in on things while working on the books. Fresh out of college she’d gotten a business degree that allowed her to run a business. Which her father had helped get a loan for. Now she owned and ran a beauty salon in town.

The business was doing well due to the laid back atmosphere, catering to the younger crowd. She still had older customers but the younger generation was where she made her money. Shizuru was under her, taking the position of manager. All Keiko really worried with was the bills and financial status. Her work was the only thing that kept her sane these days. The only friend she had was Shizuru, the only one she could confide in. Keiko couldn’t remember the last time she’d sat down and had a conversation with Yusuke. The only other person she’d consider a good friend had moved away. He’d left without so much as a goodbye.

Even Kuwabara had no idea why Kurama had suddenly decided to disappear. Keeping in contact with Shiori was Keiko’s only way of knowing that the fox was still alive. It hurt to know that he wouldn’t contact her. Before he’d left they’d gotten closer, too close in her opinion. He’d never tried anything but at times she’d hoped he would. Cheating on Yusuke wasn’t something that sat well with her most of the time. A few times she’d seen the fox looking at her with a wistful look which made her wonder. Was he thinking of someone else or was she in his thoughts? It couldn’t have been her, she knew this now. Or she was trying to accept it. For a while she’d taken a fancy to someone untouchable. It’d been a silly crush due to her and Yusuke growing apart.

“I’m leaving now,” She reached for her purse but her comment went ignored. Instead Yusuke swore as Kuwabara gave a solid slap of his own. “I’ve set the stove to blow up in exactly five minutes with enough gas to make sure both of you die in hellish flames.” Running her hand through her bangs she groaned. A very heavy Kuwabara just collided with their coffee table making the wooden leg crack. Figures, she was growing accustomed to being looked past. Three months ago she’d wanted to be noticed by her husband but had gotten nothing once again. Shizuru had suggested a change, so that’s what she’d done. Her normal brown hair was now dyed black with blonde streaks cut to frame her face. Going a little wild she and Shizuru had gotten a piercing. Keiko had settled on just her belly button while her friend had went with the tongue and nose.

The door slammed behind as she made her way to work. Perhaps she’d go by Shiori’s this evening after all. Dinner would be over but there was a good chance she’d be able to catch Kurama there. It was unlikely but it’d be nice to see the redhead again. Would he be glad for the visit or act indifferent? Glancing at her watch she decided to make this trip into town a quick one. Yusuke wouldn’t notice if she came home a little late. It’d give him more time to clean up the mess the two idiots were now making. As long as he had food waiting on him when he got hungry he wouldn’t care if she stayed gone most of the night. She knew this from experience since she’d already spent a few nights out clubbing with Shizuru. It made her wonder why she continued to stay married to the toushin.

No one had picked up the phone so the trip to Shiori’s had been postponed. Not wanting to go home Keiko found herself walking up the temple steps. Everything was silent as she approached. Genkai would most likely be asleep by now but Yukina stayed up most nights. The walk did her good until she reached the door that was slightly ajar. She wasn’t worried about the old woman getting up to cause a scene. The woman wouldn’t bother unless she sensed something threatening. Keiko heard humming as she entered the large room. It was coming from a small room to the right. “Yukina?”

The koorime came out covered in dust but all smiles, “Oh Keiko! I’m sorry I didn’t hear you enter.” Yukina wiped off her hands as she greeted her friend. Her eyes scanned the area for any signs of the toushin. Guilt touched her heart, her face remaining friendly. Yusuke had promised to tell the girl eventually. He kept saying the time wasn’t right. It meant hurting two people they all loved. “Come in, I was just searching for something.” She waved the other girl into the small storage room. It felt strange being around Keiko so soon after Yusuke had left. The man had been there just this morning. Obviously his wife didn’t have any clues about the affair. “Genkai is wanting me to find some scrolls.”

“Need help?” Keiko was sure she saw something flash in the koorime’s eyes but it was quickly hidden behind a bright smile. The storage room was indeed dusty and in disarray. Walking over to the right side she went for a stack of boxes. Some of them had seals, others didn’t. “So, I’ll just see if I can find a box with scrolls in this junk. Why does she keep all of this stuff anyways? Is any of it useful?” Keiko opened the top box which contained a bunch of documents with names. None she recognized so it was closed then placed to the side.

“Most of it is stuff she’s collected over the years. I’m not sure what all of it is used for to be honest and I don’t ask.” Yukina placed her discarded box next to the one Keiko had just finished with. As much as she longed for company she didn’t like being around the human female with this guilt eating at her soul. The affair had been going on for months now, when would it all end? She’d been hoping Keiko would leave the man. Couldn’t the woman tell something was amiss? She didn’t want to see her friend hurt but it was painful not to openly express her love for Yusuke.

Keiko opened a box that had some type of seal. She cringed as the papers tore without much difficulty. Had it been there to mark what was inside? It was no bigger than a shoe box but not as deep. Old newspaper had been stuffed inside to keep something from moving. Digging through the trash her hand clasped something oval in shape. It was warm to the touch but smooth, “I found something.” The stone was pulled out to be inspected in the dim light. It was a dark blue color, almost black in context. The entire surface was flawless, nothing strange except for the heat. “Wow, look at this.”

“Interesting, it’s beautiful.” Yukina smiled as the girl came to stand beside her. “It almost looks like a Ganbou stone except it doesn’t shine. I’ve seen one before but it was a little different. It was once said that if a youkai wanted something deeply enough then the stone would make the wish come true. It had some kind of warning that often followed but I can’t remember what it was. Can I see it?” She extended her hand to get a better look at the relic. She doubted it was that considered they’d all been destroyed decades ago. Besides they could only have been found deep in the Makai.

“Sure,” Keiko deposited it in the palm. “I wonder how you get it to work. There’s a lot of things I’d like wish for. The secret to ending split ends would be nice.” She giggled as Yukina gave her a strange look. Her mind thought about what she would really like to happen. Knowing what was wrong with Yusuke was an option but not something she really wanted to know. The koorime was staring at the stone with intensity. Did Yukina have a wish as well? She reached out to run a finger along the smooth curve. “I’m sure we all have something we wish for. But you know what I really want? I’d like to find my place, to find my purpose in life.”

Yukina frowned as the stone suddenly felt hotter. It was most likely reacting to their life energy. It was a shame it wouldn’t work, for she had a great desire. ‘Understandable since I’ve found mine already. I wish you’d find someone else so you’d leave.’ The frown deepened as the palm began to sting, “What?!” In the back of her mind she heard Keiko calling her name as bright light filled the room. She was sure she was blind as the light began to fade. Spots filled her vision as she scanned the room. It was now empty but for herself.

“Yukina?” Why was her back hurting? Keiko groaned as she tried to move, earning herself more searing pain. What had happened? Her head was throbbing in the back. The last thing she could remember was helping Yukina search for something then she drew a blank. Her eyes opened slowly feeling weighed down. There had been a bright light, someone with a flashlight? She must have fainted and hit her head. Her hands moved to reach for the sore spot above her nape. Clanking sounds echoed seconds before the ascent was stilled midway. “What the hell?” Why couldn’t she move her arms any further? Something was clamped around her wrists keeping them from going any higher than her chest.

She really couldn’t see much but for a light off in the distance. Seconds passed as she tried to focus on her surroundings. Cold was seeping from behind her, like chilled concrete but there wasn’t any of that in the temple. Someone was crying nearby, Yukina? “Who’s there? Is that you Yukina?” More whimpering echoed in the distance. Fear curled in her gut the longer she waited. The air was extremely chilled as well, no heat to speak of. It hadn’t been that cold outside tonight.

“Hush, or they’ll come back.” A frightened voice spoke next to her. Keiko didn’t want to speculate on who they were. Her mind tried to put the pieces together quickly. She’d been at Genkai’s then there had been that flash of light. Had they been attacked? It didn’t seem likely but how else could she explain being chained to the wall? The voice that had just spoken was too deep to belong to Yukina. Panic almost set in until she remembered Yusuke. If she’d been taken, he’d find her soon. If Genkai’s temple had been attacked then he’d know almost as soon as it happened. They might be on the outs lately but he’d come for her. Was Yukina okay?

“Where are we?” Keiko tried to shift her position but found her ankles were strapped down as well. This didn’t bode well, she didn’t like being tied up. Squinting did no good as she tried to see what else was in the room. How had she gotten here and who else was in here with her? What would happen if Yusuke couldn’t find her? Would she die down here? No, she’d find a way out if it was the last thing she did. “Who’s in here?”

“A few of us were brought here.” This voice came from across the room, there was no fear in this one only acceptance. “Five of us were taken from our village just after dawn. Youkai attacked without mercy, slaying all the men and children. They took what they judged to be decent, you can come to your own conclusions there. Right after dusk they stopped to feed their lusts then it was back traveling. You were found unconscious about an hour later. An easy catch, unlike some of us who fought for freedom. You should have chose a better place to rest. Now you will be sold off just like the rest of us.”

“I wasn’t resting, I was...” What had she been doing laying in the middle of nowhere? Wait, the woman had said village. There weren’t any villages near, nor were places called that any longer. Since when were humans familiar with youkai? She only knew of their existence because of Yusuke. And there was no way Koenma would allow a pack of wild demons to slaughter humans like cattle. Even if the barrier had been brought down there were laws, weren’t there. “I don’t understand, there is law against them invading. I’m sure we’ll be rescued soon.”

“Don’t fool yourself child, no one will come for us. It has always been this way, we are damned. You are about to be sold, pray that you meet your end soon. Hn, that bump on yer head must be serious. Laws? The only law out here is only the strong survive.” Light slowly emerged into the room. The door was opening to reveal three large youkai. All three seemed deep in conversation as the women shifted to get a better view of the proceedings.

Keiko almost screamed as a clawed hand reached for the chains upon her feet. Only those came undone, the one attached to her wrists were released from the wall. Her and the female that had just spoken were hauled to their feet. The urge to fight was strong but the menacing look being sent her way kept her from speaking. It wouldn’t do any good for her to die before Yusuke could come save her. She’d survive the best she could for now. “Where are you taking me?” Once outside the door the light almost made her flinch. How long had she been out? The building she’d been occupying was smaller than her bedroom.

The sky was a dark pink, unlike any sky she’d seen before. It would have been beautiful except the harsh yanking of the chains brought her attention back to the youkai dragging her along like a dog. There was a box placed in the center of the yard. Dozens of unknown youkai were standing around speaking. She glanced ahead to see the other woman walking with a stiff spine. Keiko envied the woman her courage because she was scared. What had she said about being sold? This had to be a nightmare, she’d wake up soon. There was no way she was about to stand on that box and be bartered off like property.

Where the hell was Yusuke? That one thought kept running through her mind and the answer that sauntered back had her wanting to cry. Weeks! It’d been weeks since she’d been sold off. Now it was time to face the truth. She wasn’t home, she wasn’t going to be rescued. The wooden chair scraped across the floor next to her as Miliya stood. What had caused the woman to suddenly move? Not really caring she placed her head in her palms. Eight hundred years, that’s how far back she was. Every morning she hoped to wake up to find it all a dream. How long would it be before she was forced to do the unthinkable?

The woman that had bought her was known as Madam, nothing more. If the woman had a real name none of the girls knew it. Keiko had been shocked to know she’d been sold to a bordello. She wasn’t a whore, nor easy. How could they expect her to willingly let a man bed her just so someone else could profit? She didn’t belong to anyone know matter what proceedings had taken place. The warded bracelets meant nothing, nothing. If just meant she had to find a way to remove them before making her escape. They were just lucky the annoying things kept her from running from the building. She’d find a way home no matter how long it took.

It wasn’t that she couldn’t accept reality. Somehow she’d been taken to the past, far away from the future she knew. For what purpose, that she didn’t know. The establishment wasn’t so bad, it was clean. At the end of every night she had her own bed to sleep in. Upon being brought in several rules had been laid at her and Miliya’s feet. They’d been bought because of how they looked. Some youkai had tastes for human flesh. The girls here consisted of youkai and human, of all varieties. At the end of every week each girl had to meet a certain quota in funds. Madam didn’t believe in forcing but would if it came down to it. She paid a price and now owned them, the girl would make use of herself. Keiko was thankful for her new friend that made double the quota and was now covering for her.

The girls could choose which males they slept with and what to charge. There was to be no force or damaging of the females. She assumed during this age and time it could be considered a high-class whorehouse. Keiko watched her friend leading another customer up the stairs to the bedroom. How long would it be before she herself was forced to start taking up customers? She couldn’t depend on Miliya to be able to cover her amount also all the time. Could she escape before that time came? The thought of fucking a stranger left a bitter taste in her mouth. All the customers were youkai, usually horrible creatures. She’d rather die first or be beaten than forced to couple with them.

Another three hours and she’d be allowed to go to her room for the remainder of the night. Something cold to drink sounded great. The kitchen was on the other side of the parlor. It meant making her way through many male bodies but her thirst won out. She’d thought of passing away some time in the kitchen. Some fresh air would be nice also, shame she wasn’t allowed outside. Bodies parted as she marched towards the door. The long skirt swayed around her shoeless feet. She felt naked amongst so many males in the outfit. It was one of twelve that she owned now. None of the girls here wore anything non-revealing, it was part of their job. Keiko had chosen something simple and long. The top however was the best there was that didn’t flash nipples at the nearest passerby. The skirt was red that hugged low on her hips, showing off her own body adornment. Madam had been stunned to see the piercing but decided she liked the display. The top was no more than a bikini top. It reminded Keiko of the sport bras she often wore during her trips to the gym.

“Now this is what I’m talking about. Come here sweet thing,” A hand suddenly grabbed her wrist yanking her down upon a lap. Keiko was too stunned to speak as the owner of the voice picked her for company. It was against house rules for any of the girls to be manhandled or injured. If someone was caught breaking the rules they’d be escorted outside by one of the many guards walking around.

Keiko hastily searched for one but they all had decided to hit the pisser at this particular moment. “Unhand me now, find someone else for the evening.” It would be a cold day in hell before she gave him the time of day. The man could be no more than six feet, small for most youkai from what she’d seen. He wasn’t small when it came to being round, he had some girth to him. There were gills where his cheeks should have been. She sure wasn’t about to fuck Charlie the Tuna. “Get your paws off me before I remove them.” The hands let her go allowing her to stand. It was a small reprieve, a webbed hand landed over her ass. She yelped from the stinging pinch of flesh, “You jerk!”

The crowd grew silent followed by the ringing slap. Keiko saw the grey eyes flash red to mock the hand print left behind. The man sneered bringing his hand up, giving her only a second to brace herself. The counter slap was painful and managed to send her skidding across the floor. She wasn’t sure what hurt worse, the slap or the feel of carpet burning her thigh. The bastard was now standing up and walking her way. The crowd parted as one of the girls went running from the room to fetch a guard. Keiko glared at the fish as he sauntered towards her with a cocky grin. Her eyes scanned the area, anything she could use. No one was stepping forward to help, the cowards. Though she was sure some of them found the display amusing. There was nothing but the tables and chairs. Getting to her feet was hard but she managed.

“Bitch, you’ll learn your place.” He growled when the girl reached for an overturned chair. “Please, do you actually think you can hurt me? A whore should know her place, on her back. Let me remind you because you obviously think too much of yourself. Not only are you a whore, you’re a human whore. You’re not worth spitting on, you should feel grateful that I’d consider rutting with you. Your existence is pathetic and small.”

“Well, I’ve also heard the same thing about your dick.” Keiko smiled as the crowd gasped and a few women snickered. Fishboy snarled before rushing her, she had enough time to swing before he collided with her. The impact took her breath away but didn’t cause much pain. He ignored the wood as it shattered over his head and caught her in a tight hold. Her arms were being crushed against her ribs as he held her immobile. The strong smell of urine clung to him as his tongue licked across her cheek. “Fucker!” The action outraged her, it was disgusting. His breath reeked and he was crushing her. He howled when she brought her knee up between them. It got the hold to loosen enough for her to stumble back. She could see the rage on his face as her feet continued to propel her backwards.

Hands landed on her shoulders and she froze in fear. Her head snapped to see who had stopped her escape. A hard chest pressed into her back as long silver hair came into view. The first thing she noticed were the ears. Time seemed to freeze as a face she adored came into view. It was him but it wasn’t. She’d only seen him in his true form twice but it was something she’d never forget. Her voice was locked in her chest as she gazed up at the fox. He wasn’t even looking in her direction but at the man that was now trying to stand.

“Enough,” That single word echoed through out the parlor. Youko glared at the man who seemed to be debating. Would the fool try to continue? Two guards had entered the room, also waiting to see what would happen. Every customer knew the rules, none of the girls would be abused. No one wanted to bed a female that was deformed or scarred. It was amusing at first to see the man be put in his place. The girl was human but had her worth, as all of them here did. Just another drunk fool ruled by ignorance. The girl didn’t move as the guards escorted the man out. “You shouldn’t act so reckless.”

Keiko nodded but didn’t dare speak, for fear of demanding to know why he didn’t know who she was. It was because for him, they hadn’t met yet. For weeks she’d waited for one of her friends to show up and take her home. Now one had appeared and he had no idea who she was. It was a more painful slap in the face than what the fish had delivered. She was being taunted, taunted by the condemning reality; she was stuck and alone.

Youko tried not to glance back as he made his way to the office. He’d stopped by to have a chat with Madam then leave to find his next score. Walking in to a shrieking female hadn’t been part of the plan. He’d almost walked on by without stopping, it wasn’t his problem. The strange coloring of the girl’s hair had caught his eye. She was human, so how could she have hair of multicolor? She wasn’t the most beautiful in the place, that he knew. Some of the youkai females could easily put her to shame. Yet he’d been drawn as she tried to take on someone much stronger than herself. The other humans cowered usually but she’d stood there proud. Almost insulted at being groped by a paying customer. What was her story?

“Come in,” Madam barely glanced up from her paperwork at the light knock. She smiled at the fox gracing her foyer. His visits were usually pleasant if not eventful. Would he be staying the evening? “You are early, couldn’t wait any longer?” She chuckled at the curt nod and his obvious skirting around the question.

“I was in the area and thought I’d stop in.” Youko went to stand before the hearth. He’d been visiting the woman since she’d opened the business over half a century ago. It was fairly new but well established, the woman had good business sense. “Perhaps some entertainment will help pass the time. I noticed you have some new girls. Soon you will have just as many humans as youkai. Where did you get these latest?”

“Ah, I’ve bought five in the last three months. They seem fit and healthy, they are making just as much as the others. I’m not disappointed in my purchase. Well, except for one but she’ll break in time.” She leaned back in the chair noticing the interest the fox couldn’t hide, not from her. “Which one caught your eye? You wouldn’t ask otherwise.”

“Just happened to notice with the display that had taken place. One of your girls didn’t like being touched it seemed.” His tastes usually didn’t run to human. In truth he’d never bedded one or had the desire. He didn’t have time to worry about being gentle. Rumor had it that most of them were unwilling. Human females mated for the sake of duty not pleasure. He didn’t have need of a woman that would just lay there. “She was wearing red, dark hair with streaks the color of the sun and eyes that would remind one of a doe.”

“You speak of Saiki, why did it have to be that one?” She grimaced at the interest, this might be a problem. She couldn’t remember the name the girl had given to her the day she’d arrived. To make sure that each girl understood their place, their original names were removed then given a new one. Their old lives were gone, their new identities would be there until she sold them or they died. “I’ve had some trouble with that one since she was brought. She has yet to make any profit. I find myself tempted to force the issue.”

“She is untouched?” He had no desire to bed a virgin. It would be unusual to bed a human female and be cautious. To try and break in someone pure wasn’t in his interest. Shame, he might have been willing to pay for the girl. If that was the case he’d just find his usual spot in the owner’s bed. His lusts would be sated without wasting good coin. Perhaps he’d come back after the girl had been properly broken in.

“No, though she hasn’t accepted her position here I don’t believe she is pure. I’ve heard her speak of a husband upon arrival. Not to mention most of the humans are raped before being sold. I don’t think she’s been forced yet, she’s just temperamental. Another has been paying her quota so I’ve been letting it slide. She’ll accept her lot soon I’m sure. Why the interest anyways? I’ve never known you to be interest in humans.”

“I see,” His mind wondered back to the small girl he’d left in the parlor. Her not accepting her position yet was also a problem. He didn’t like to force his will on a woman, not when there was so many willing close at hand. His body responded thinking of that fire he’d seen flashing. “I’ll pay you triple the quota amount for one night. No special requirements or demands just make it happen.” The stunned expression made him smile. It wasn’t often the woman was left speechless. “Do we have a deal?”

Keiko felt her heart slam straight to her toes at the announcement. She’d come to her room to find Madam waiting inside. This couldn’t be happening to her but it was. Time had run out, she wasn’t being given a choice this time. Buzzing sounded in her ear as the woman’s voice sharpened and the name she was soon coming to detest was shouted in her direction. Why? Who was this person, why did he request her presence? “Why?”

“You will listen very carefully Saiki. You belong to me and I have been allowing you to get away with not earning your keep. I know that Miliya has been covering your cost and I will usually let it slide. I bought you for a specific purpose and you have been getting off lightly. Count yourself lucky that I have not forced you into submission yet. I like to consider myself an understanding woman but this time I will not bend. This client is very important and he has asked for you. You have two options and less than one minute to make your choice. Either do as I ask and earn your quota for two weeks by spending an evening with this customer or I will sell you to someone else. I doubt you’ll find your new owner as pleasant.”

Keiko wanted to scream that her name wasn’t Saiki but that wasn’t the wisest path to take. Would the woman really sell her? The look said yes, she’d sell her to the highest bidder. Who knew where she’d end up? Being raped and killed or worse? Perhaps all the other girls were right, she should count herself lucky. She had a place to sleep, food, and the means to survive. The only thing Madam was asking was that she earn her keep in a manner of speaking. Her morals screamed that she shouldn’t accept it. Common sense told her not to behave foolishly. It was just one man, she could lay there and let him do his thing. She wasn’t a simpering virgin that would bleed or was ignorant of what was about to occur. “Very well, I’ll do it.”

“Good, go prepare yourself. I’ll be sending him up shortly. Do not disappoint me Saiki.” The woman left leaving Keiko behind. The door shut behind the woman that had the right to make her life hell. Keiko wanted to yell and holler, anything to vent the frustration mounting in her chest.

She only managed to take a seat on the edge of the bed before the door opened. “I’m getting rea....” The sentence wasn’t completed as she saw that it wasn’t her owner but someone else standing in the doorway. Dismay filled her seeing the fox striding in casually. It spoke of him being accustomed to visiting whores. It wasn’t something she would have believed of the fox but how well did she really know him?

“Get undressed,” He barked the order, he didn’t like the way she was staring at him. It felt as if she were searching his soul. This night was costing him so she might as well make it worth it. No doubt it had taken some threats to get the girl to comply. That wasn’t his problem or concern, as long as she pleased him. Though if she wasn’t that accustomed to a man, just what pleasure could she bring him?

He had to be kidding, she couldn’t sleep with him. He was Yusuke’s friend, her friend, this was the guy that had often met her for lunch. How could she return home and look at him across the table knowing she’d fucked him in the past? That’s if she ever was able to return home. Then he’d have to actually want to see her. Things couldn’t get any worse could they? Well yes, she could have been forced to sleep with Fishface or someone just like him. At least this was with someone she knew, well in a sense. The future Kurama meant something to her, so wasn’t this the same? She’d had thoughts of it about the sexy redhead so she could do this.

He was pleased when the shaking hands went for the back of the top. Her eyes remained on the floor as the garment was stripped. The long hair managed to cover up most of the fullness, keeping the breasts from view. Amber eyes trailed the length of flat stomach to rest on the stomach jewelry for a split second. That oddity was forgotten as the skirt was slid down slim legs. The girl was standing before him nude. She tensed as he stepped up to stand in front.

‘Okay, brace yourself.’ The thought got her pass his approach and then his silent appraisal. Would he find her lacking? He’d never shown any interest in the future so she had to be missing something he liked. If she was lucky he’d decide to go find another girl to appease his lust upon. Even while fear kept her chest tight she quickly obeyed when he ordered her to lie upon the bedding. This was Kurama standing before her, she just had to think of the man in the future. The one that had helped save her life once. The one that had laughed with her over a cup of coffee, watched a sci-fi marathon with her late one night and had told her if she ever needed anything he’d be there for her.

Youko found her stiffness irritating but not discouraging. The girl kept her eyes closed as he undressed. Was she lost in thought? Her scent didn’t reek of fear or disgust. Instead it had deepened, very enticing. Clawed fingers reached down to move the hair resting upon her chest aside. He managed to settle himself over her, though her legs remained locked at the knees. Her breasts were large but firm. The nipples were pink against the creamy white, the globes perfectly round.

Keiko jerked feeling something wet and hot run over a nipple. The tongue latched on bringing the stiff peak into an awaiting mouth. Heat flooded her lower region, shaming herself. It didn’t help that she’d been attracted to Kurama to begin with. Now that she was able to feel that sensual mouth on her body all that longing was coming forth. Her body didn’t seem to care what time frame it was taking place in. Sharp nails lightly teased the sides of her breast as the mouth continued to suckle.

The quick response was unexpected but stirred his blood. One touch and she was responsive to his advances. Her scent had spiked within seconds. Small hands were now resting on his shoulders as he toyed with each nipple. His cock twitched against a warm thigh becoming impatient. He’d make sure she was ready before going further. The fingernails dug into his skin as his knees pried the girls apart. It would be easy to lower himself and plunge deep. A finger roamed over the folds hiding the warm entrance. Moisture coated the pad as it slid between the soft petals.

Keiko felt her legs spreading further, her own doing. She felt the smallest amount of fear with the sharp claw so close to her private area. He was actually careful and somewhat gentle as the finger was pushed between the folds. It’d been months since she’d been intimate with Yusuke. Feeling her walls stretch under the invasion had her moaning. It was wanton but felt too good to deny. It only lasted for seconds before she felt him settle further down. There was no turning back as she felt the velvety tip rubbing against the wet opening. Within seconds she’ll have done the unthinkable and willingly slept with her husband’s best friend. “Oh, owe, ah stop.”

Hands tried to push him away as he forced himself deeper. He’d been assured that the girl wasn’t a virgin but he found himself doubting it. There was no barrier but the passage was squeezing his shaft tight. The tiny body beneath him tried to shove him off but only managed to push more of his length inside. Seeing that moving her hips wasn’t helping the girl lay still. He had no intention of stopping. While her face was pinched in pain, the muscles contracted around him. He slowly withdrew in order to enter again. This time it went smoother but the friction had him moaning.

Keiko was sure she was being split in two. Even as the penetration stirred the fire in her belly, she felt stretched beyond repair. Her fantasies hadn’t entailed this little part. She’d been told that all men came in various sizes. Was it possible for two men to be equipped that differently? It had been painful with Yusuke the first time but not like this. It wasn’t exactly the stinging pain but the overwhelming sense of being stuffed. Was it possible to get used to such a sensation? Her body tightened at the thought of receiving more of the attention it was now getting. The cock buried between her legs continued to thrust without pause.

It was almost painful but he was lost in the sensation. The tension blazed in his groin as the walls tightened around him further. The girl had relaxed and was now lifting her hips to meet each thrust. The soft moaning had turned to blissful whimpering as her lips parted in awe. He hadn’t thought it possible to enjoy bedding a human. His cock strained for release while he didn’t want to end things so soon. The torment was sweet, the pleasure unlike anything he’d known before. Every time he pulled out the walls clung to him, as if trying to keep him imbedded. Which led to him quickening his pace. As much as his body yearned for the exquisite friction, he wanted to remained buried deep, fully encased by the wet heat.

Keiko screamed as she finally understood the term being fucked hard meant. The clawed hand held her waist still as he slammed into her core. It was painful but her body soared at the abuse. She shook from the release, her body finding that moment of absolute pleasure. She was sure she felt the thick pulsing as he sated himself. A few more thrusts and he collapsed on her chest. His hot breath brushed across her ear as he panted with exhaustion. Her own breathing was shallow as she came down from the moment. For better or worse, she knew she’d just crossed a line. There was no looking back, no matter what era she ended up in.

“Surely you jest!” Madam almost contained the mirth but it managed to slip. The fox didn’t look to be amused by her merriment. What did he expect? The man couldn’t be serious with his request. No matter how attractive or good the girl might be. That part she doubted since the girl wasn’t an experienced whore. With that uptight attitude she even doubted that the girl had enjoyed the act with her husband. “Is this the part where you demand some of your payment back?”

“Do not mock me. You will only stir my ire.” Youko felt the anger rise as the woman stopped her mocking laughter. He had made the offer and would do so only one more time. “I have my reasons, do not question my motives. I will pay you double the girl’s quota for each week. This will ensure that no other is to visit her room. With the payment it reserves her services for me alone. Unlike the other females you will receive the full amount. As for her own personal use, I will take care of that also.”

“Let me get this right. You are willing to pay double what she owes while seeing to her personal needs. I’m to set her up like your personal whore. Is there any other stipulations? Besides the fact that you have completely lost your mind. I’m sure you liked your first taste of human but is it really worth all that?” She wasn’t going to laugh at the absurd request. If he was wanting to pay for it then she wouldn’t complain. It meant she’d be guaranteed some profit as long as the fox was interested.

“She is to be available at all times. This means I will not stop by and have to wait for her to get clean because she smells of the latrine. You have plenty of women that barely meet their quotas to perform such tasks.” He stood up when she nodded, “Do not cross me on this. Don’t think to make double profits from the girl. My directions are to be followed without flaw. No man is to touch what I have rightfully bargained for. I am paying for sole use of the girl. If another male touches her while under your roof then I will be most displeased. Make sure she understands this as well.”

“I don’t fucking care what they say she’s alive.” Yusuke tossed the damn phone against the wall. The plastic breaking did nothing for his mood. The police were now officially closing the case, they weren’t going to do anything. Botan said that Keiko’s soul hadn’t been retrieved which meant his wife was still alive but where? Kuwabara got up to answer the banging on their front door. It was probably just another employee or friend coming by to give their support. He didn’t need their support, he needed his wife back.

Kuwabara frowned but went to answer the knock. They’d searched for weeks before informing those not aware of the situation. Shizuru had managed to keep things straight at the shop but now it couldn’t be contained. The police believed Keiko to be dead. Her car had been found near Genkai’s but no trace of the woman had been found. It was believed she’d been kidnaped before making it to the temple grounds. Koenma’s new spirit detective had searched but nothing. He was hopeful, they hadn’t found a body. The door opened to reveal a pale Kurama, “Hey man.”

“Kuwabara,” His tone spoke for itself. Not only was he angry he was grieving. Why had they waited so long before telling him? Was it true? His mother had called upset and all he’d managed to make out was Keiko, presumed dead and missing. Would someone take the girl out of revenge? The distressed look sent his way by a teary eyed Yusuke said it all. “What has Koenma said? Is she still alive?”

“We don’t know, they don’t know, she’s just vanished. Koenma believes someone managed to get her into the Makai. He says without a soul they can’t be sure of anything. No body, no soul, no Keiko, there’s nothing. The cops suggested that she left and doesn’t want to be found. She wouldn’t leave like that no matter how bad things were. She would have told someone, if not me then Shizuru. We know her, this isn’t something she’d do.” Yusuke felt like tearing something apart. Guilt and worry were eating at him, this was his fault. He shouldn’t have shut her out, he should have noticed things sooner. “FUCK!!! Dammit, what the fuck am I going to do? Hope that she shows up? Pray that whomever took her will suddenly feel sorry and let her go?”

“We’ll find her. I’ve contacted Hiei already, he’ll be here shortly. She’s alive Yusuke, Keiko is a survivor. She doesn’t need you falling apart when, you need to be strong.” Yes, she needed her husband to be strong. Kurama wished that it were him in the man’s place. Even if the girl didn’t belong to him he wouldn’t give up until he found her. A body, a soul, anything to know what had happened. “You can’t just give up. We won’t abandon her.”

“I already have, don’t you fucking get it! This is my fault. Dammit man, it took me two days to even realize my fucking wife was missing. Two damn days I sat here not bothering to give a shit that Keiko hadn’t come home. It didn’t even occur to me that something was wrong, so caught up in my own shit. It took Shizuru coming over here demanding to know where Keiko was before I panicked. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had left me, it would serve me right. Don’t even tell me that I’m wrong. Even Kuwabara can’t look at me because it’s the truth. What would you have done if your wife wouldn’t have come home the first night? Tell me Kurama, if it were you in my place, would this have happened?”

“No, it would not.” His eyes hardened at the question. Would it have happened with him? No, it disgusted him hearing that it had taken that long. How long would he have waited before getting worried? The question was irrelevant but Yusuke had a cause for the guilt. “If she were mine she wouldn’t have been out by herself that late at night. She would have been home with me where she belonged. I would have noticed it the minute my wife didn’t come home to spend the night in our bed. But as fate would have it Keiko isn’t mine but yours. You are lucky that I consider you a friend or I would have changed that slight years ago. I am still tempted to rectify the situation since you don’t appear to be capable of taking care of her. You have asked and I have answered honestly. I will lend you my help to find Keiko, after that don’t expect me to stand back in the shadows any longer, not for your sake.”

News was spreading fast about the latest arrangement. Keiko was confused more than embarrassed about the whole thing. The girls were talking about the infamous Youko choosing a permanent whore, and a human one at that. The night had been enjoyable but why would he go out of his way to make sure no one else touched her? Her regular chores had been taken away as well. She really didn’t know what to do with her time now. There was still her laundry and food preparation to attend to. Her worries had been taken care of but one large concern remained. It’d been a week since the fox had walked out her room.

Some of the girls seemed envious of her, others now stared with open hostility. She had no idea why the man would choose her. It had been nice, from his side it couldn’t have been no more than a regular rut. Her nails tapped against the table, her gaze searching for something to do. Most of the females had taken their last customer up to the rooms for the evening. Another night of being bored. Maybe it was time to write that novel she’d been putting off. She could write a series with all the free time she suddenly had on her hands.

The trip back to her room was uneventful except for the thousands of random thoughts rushing through her tormented mind. Did Yusuke realize that she was gone in the future? Would anyone know what had become of her? Would they even miss her long after she was gone? Did Yukina realize what had happened to her? If so the koorime would surely alert Genkai and the others. She had to believe that they were even now working on a way to bring her back home. It was that small hope that kept her from finding the nearest open window.

She frowned noticing that her door was slightly ajar. She was certain she’d managed to close it after returning with clean sheets. The other girls had a habit of going into other’s rooms to find something of need. One of them had probably needed to quickly borrow a brush or adornment. The lamp was extinguished pitching the room in total darkness. She didn’t bother closing the door completely, fear laced in her belly. She’d left it burning over two hours ago with enough oil to last several days. Movement caught her attention to the right. Had Youko returned to make use of his new purchase?

A snarl was the warning before pain seared across the side of her throat. The blow left no room for doubt as she hit the hard floor. “Unh,” she was dying, she could feel the blood flowing freely down her chest. Had her throat just been slit? She didn’t have time to ponder on her state of health. Clawed hands snatched a handful of hair. The scream tore through the room, the piercing wail earning a kick to the back. Tears burned behind closed eyelids. Cackling made her heart freeze in fear, she recognized the voice. Footsteps trailed around the room, the lock clicked signaling his whereabouts. He’d just locked her in the room. What were the chances of someone coming to help her?

Dying was the furthest thing from her mind. What could she use as a weapon? They weren’t allowed knives or anything threatening. Getting to her knees she bumped into the dresser next to her bed. Where was the lamp? If she could see she could defend herself to some extent. As her fingers wrapped around the base, fingers found the back of her neck. She screamed as nail punctured the tears already lining her skin. The lantern collided with the scalp hovering near her own. A grunt of pain then freedom, it was short-lived. There was no way for her to escape. A booted foot managed to sweep her legs out from beneath her. The floor came rushing up like an old friend.

‘I’m going to die!’ She whimpered as the approaching footsteps signaled her end. She didn’t want to die here, not now. If she died here she’d still be born in the future right? A gurgling sound filled the air followed by two large thumps. Seconds passed before movement was heard. This time it came to stand next to her. “Don’t touch me.” Would the end come quick? Was she about to be tortured to death?

“He is dead, how bad are you injured?” Youko could make out the slim form trembling on the cold floor. The smell of blood filled the room, most of it the dead man’s. She tensed but didn’t struggle as he reached to pick her up. Someone was already rushing down the hall. The guards here were lacking. The girl could have been killed if he hadn’t decided to stop in this evening. They should be more concerned about protecting Madam’s investments instead of which would they would be bedding for the night. “I will take you somewhere so your wounds can be tended to.”

Light flickered as she managed to pry her weary eyes apart. What time was it? The side of her throat ached as she rolled over in the bed. Seeing the fox standing next to the door didn’t phase her. She figured he’d be coming back soon. He’d stayed long enough that night to tend to her wound and ensure that the incident wouldn’t happen again. Madam had been more than happy to see to it after Youko had raised his offer. She was given a new room as well, one that suited his needs. The fox planned to come and go as he pleased. That was two weeks ago, two weeks of her wishing to see him again. The familiar face was comforting at times.

Youko edged toward the girl’s side. There was still a bandage covering the wound but Madam had assured him that it was almost healed. It angered him to know that it would leave a scar. Three long gashes covered the soft skin along her neckline. The girl was lucky she’d turned in time to keep from being beheaded. The pallor of her skin was too pale for his liking. “Come, you need some fresh air. Being stuffed inside this place all the time isn’t healthy.” He’d take her up in order to get some air.

“But I can’t! The ward keeps me from leaving the property.” She would love to get some fresh air but it was forbidden. Madam had stated that anyone caught trying to escape would be whipped as punishment. Didn’t he know the rules of the establishment. Some of the woman were here on their own accord but the slaves were prisoners.

“I am well aware of your boundaries and it applies to the property. I will take you to the roof where we can be alone. Get up and bring that blanket unless you want to be uncomfortable.” His body was already aching with need. He’d waited for her to recover enough. Most of his sexual encounters weren’t gentle and the girl was human. What pricked his curiosity was that she didn’t appear to be afraid of him. Most people quivered when hearing his name and tried to stay far from him. This girl acted indifferent and even pleased when he appeared. While she didn’t move her eyes spoke volumes, she was happy to see him. Most whores did their duty, becoming cold and bitter over the years.

Keiko did as she was told jumping at the chance to go outside. The blanket felt awkward and bulky as they stepped to a window. Arms wrapped around her waist then the air rushed passed her. Her feet were set down, the fresh breeze rushing over her skin. It felt wonderful to feel the wind. How long would she have to endure being kept like a caged animal? “Thank you, this is wonderful. Let me spread this out so we can sit.”

He watched the girl place the blanket down. Her manner was different from most humans he’d come across. She appeared to be highly educated, her words well pronounced. There was a spark of trust in her eyes that confused him. Didn’t she know he’d have no qualms about tearing her throat out if the mood struck him? The thin robe was hiding the lovely attributes he’d come to take pleasure in. He was pleased when she laid flat down upon her back. She could enjoy the fresh air while he took what he wanted.

Keiko smiled, feeling content under the night sky. It was so beautiful out, even the noise coming from below couldn’t dampen her mood. Didn’t matter if he’d brought her out here for one main purpose. She could live with that also. It was best since the fox was already discarding his clothing. The white material was being pushed pass firm thighs as the fluffy tails twitched behind him. Did he like to have them played with? Her hands went for the sash keeping the robe tied in front. Golden eyes widened as she exposed herself to his view.

Hands splayed along her knees, prying her legs apart. A protest rose in her throat as he came to rest between her thighs. As long as he didn’t try to shove it in while she was dry then there would be no need to kick him off the building. Her breath caught as a thumb reached for the closed petals. She’d been hoping for foreplay but his attack went straight for her most sensitive spot. The harsh pad rubbed against the hidden jewel stimulating a response. Heat flooded her core as he played with the nerve. The circular motion had her wet and aching in minutes.

The entry was swift leaving her stunned. It wasn’t as bad as the first time but the feeling left her breathless. She was thankful for the time to adjust to the intrusion. It was only a minute but she was prepared for the next thrust. The thick mass moved within her body, this time the pace didn’t start out slow. Her nails found the straining shoulders, as the fox held himself over her prone form. Moving was out of the question, the rocking crushing her against the hard roof. The blanket kept her backside from scraping and getting splinters. As the rest of her body complained about the harsh treatment her center flared at the friction. Even the discomfort was forgotten as the tension mounted, her release being stirred.

The tray clattered as she placed it back on the table. Did she have everything? It was still early and most of the girls were still sleeping. Gods, she was tired herself but the need to eat had awoken her. Even if it meant eating nothing but meat and bread she had to get up. Two hours of sleep wasn’t enough for her body but neither was starving. Kurama had taken her back downstairs after three hours on the roof. She’d been hoping for some rest but that had been denied. It was amazing that she was able to walk this morning. Her body was still slightly sore from the overuse. The most her and Yusuke had coupled during one night had been twice. She’d lost count of how many times the fox had made her reach that peak.

She wasn’t sure what he’d eat in this form but the others ate what was in the pantry. Her stomach felt kind of queasy at delivering him breakfast in bed but he’d still been sleeping when she’d exited. It would be rude to go back with only something for herself. Perhaps she could get him to open up and tell her a little about himself. All the time she’d spent with the redhead before he’d never mentioned his past much. What kind of life had he led? She’d heard him called a legendary bandit but that was vague.

The silver hair was still draped over the pillows as the door shut behind her. An ear twitched at her approach and she knew he was awake. “I’ve brought you something incase you were hungry.” So many emotions rushed through her as the face turned to watch her place the tray down. How many evenings hadn’t she cooked dinner for the man? It was him but it wasn’t, so the nervousness remained. “I grabbed a little of everything, I wasn’t sure what you’d like.” Her cheeks flushed as he studied her.

“I’m not picky.” The tray was lined with an assortment of meat, she wasn’t kidding. The girl’s face was flushed from the heat or was something else causing the blush? She was the only whore he’d seen that blushed and had modesty. The robe was once again knotted tight around her slim waist. Since when did whores bring food to their customers? She’d had a husband so she must know her duties as a female. The light smile on the parted lips made him think. She didn’t seem to be doing it out of a sense of duty. Besides he paid for the use of her body not as a maid.

Keiko managed to eat the small amount that had been brought for herself. How long would the man be staying? Would he leave as soon as he’d eaten? The large ears moved calling her attention to stray. She’d always been curious to what they felt like. He’d never changed into this form again in her presence. Giving into temptation she reached up to touch the edge of his left ear. The fur was much coarser than one would imagine. His meal stopped as she explored. How many nights had she let her mind wander? To wonder what it would be like to touch him, in this form and the other. The softer form was now denied her due to unpleasant circumstances. She may never see him again in her own time. Why not do as she pleased now? Yusuke was just a memory as she remained trapped in the past.

If she were honest with herself, she had feelings for their friend. Why else did his own disappearance make her sad? Being with him had brought her immense pleasure and joy. She’d began to love the Kurama from her life. Now she found she desired this one as well. Things could have turned out worse. Fate had been kind enough to deliver her into the arms of a man she already wanted. The tips of her fingers roamed further down to touch the thick strands resting upon tense shoulders. Perhaps he didn’t like for the exploration. Mirth twinkled in her eyes as the nails lightly scraped across a taut nipple.

Youko placed the tray aside as the timid hands explored his chest. The dark head lowered, lips breezed over where the fingers had just vacated. The fingers gave enough force aiming to make him lean back. Curious as to what her game was he went along. She was quickly becoming an enigma to him. Wife or whore, she wasn’t behaving like either. Human women married for duty, allowing their husbands to fornicate to bear offspring. Whores did only what was necessary, letting the males sate themselves for funds. Few went beyond the norm to please their customers. The hot lips were now kissing down the length of his abdomen. Moving so slowly as if she were trying to memorize every inch.

Keiko wondered just how far he’d allow her to go as she made her way down to her goal. She’d heard talk of how things were done long ago. Oral sex hadn’t been practiced centuries ago, not by humans. Did youkai like indulging in this type of foreplay? They’d done almost every other type but this. Would he allow her to do so? She didn’t want the favor returned, in truth she’d never really enjoyed it much when Yusuke had done so. Her eyes took in the sight of the thick member so close to her mouth. Taking it slow, she placed a chaste kiss on the wet tip.

Golden eyes widened as she placed the tip between her lips. She’d done this many times on Yusuke and hoped the fox would enjoy the same things. Her tongue found the small slit as her hand wrapped around the base. She felt like she was shoving too much food in her face but placed more of the member inside. Her cheeks would be killing her soon, it was hard to suck. He didn’t seem to notice the awkward movements. Once she was able to get a steady pace going between mouth and hand she willed her throat to relax. That got the reaction she was wanting. A hand found it’s way into her hair holding her head down. It was enough to know he was enjoying the attention.

His balls felt tight as his cock slid deeper into the hot throat. What part of his member she wasn’t sucking on was being pulled and twisted by the small hand. The saliva kept it wet allowing the friction to increase. Even after finding release several times during the night he could feel the pressure building. The lips kissed his shaft with every time all but the tip was freed. Her free hand found his sac, squeezing it gently.

Keiko almost gagged when his hips finally left the bedding. The cock was being forced further down her throat. His head was thrown back as the hand pushed her own down. There was no warning as the thick vein began to throb. The wet heat hit the back of her throat leaving her no choice but to swallow. The thick fluid didn’t taste bad as she’d feared. It was slightly salty but she let it slide down her throat as he panted against the pillows. That question answered, she licked the moisture from her lips.

The blood was pounding in his temples as her weight climbed up his waist. She was sitting on his lap leaning towards him. His eyes opened feeling her breath caressing his cheek. Her lips were glistening in the light, his essence coating them. There was no cocky smile upon that face only a look of contentment. Would she demand that he please her in return? A kiss was placed on the corner of his mouth. A shiver ran down his spine as the lips found his own. Her mouth was extremely soft and moist.

Keiko applied more pressure when he didn’t pull away. His lips were thin but smooth as they began to move against hers. Her mouth opened feeling the slick pressure, allowing his tongue to enter. Excitement coursed through her veins as he plundered the inner warmth. The kiss was taken slow but managed to make her blood soar. It was different from any sexual encounter so far. The gentleness came as a pleasant surprise one she found herself cherishing. His hands went into her hair as he took control. She felt all the worry and apprehension melting away as his mouth claimed her own. Only to be replaced by the fear that this would soon come to an end.

The evening was extremely warm even for this time of year. Kuwabara didn’t want to look upon the sorrowful faces of those surrounding him. How could they give up? The only ones still searching were him and Kurama, even Urameshi had called the search off. Three months the girl had been gone. No traces, nothing to indicate where she’d gone. The only conclusion was that someone had gotten rid of the body and soul. Finally, her parents had decided that it was time to let go. A service was being held in her memory. Yusuke had insisted that it be held at the temple so all their friends could attend.

Dozens of employees, friends and family huddled in the large room. It felt wrong to hear them talk of the girl as if she were really gone. His eyes turned to Yukina that sat huddled a chair, the koorime barely speaking these days. Kurama was sitting near the large photo placed above the empty coffin. How they hell could they be burying her without a body? This was a scene he didn’t want to bear witness to yet he had to stay for their sake. Yusuke was trying to hold up but the slightest thing could cause the man to break. The same thing couldn’t be said of Kurama, the man having distanced himself even further. He wasn’t crying which was worse than witnessing the man sobbing like a babe.

Keiko’s parents were walking around talking to those that had come to pay their last respects. The mood was so fragile and heavy Kuwabara felt like he was choking. They all didn’t want to accept that the girl was gone. What else could they do? Time went on and so did life, they’d go on without her. How Yusuke or Kurama would mend after this he was unsure. Shizuru nodded in his direction her eyes swollen from crying. She was strong, she’d make it through. Not knowing Keiko’s fate was worse than having to tell her goodbye. He needed a breath of fresh air to clear his mind. It would also help stop the tears that threatened.

He didn’t bother shutting the door as he stepped out. It was raining, a steady downpour to mock those crying within. The suit was going to strangle him along with the lump that refused to go down. Why did this have to happen? Urameshi might not have been the perfect husband but didn’t deserve this. Neither did Keiko wherever she was. The sun was beginning to set, the orange glow appearing saddened by the loss within the wooden building. His shoe scuffed across the wood as he kicked an imaginary rock. He felt the need to hit something instead his eyes lifted up to stare across the drenched grounds. The sky was crying for the missing girl, so much it was conjuring up her image. He blinked rapidly seeing the figure staggering in the distance. It couldn’t be, the fates weren’t that cruel. Was the image here to haunt him because he’d failed her as a friend? Seconds passed as it neared and his heart dipped, it couldn’t be. “It can’t be.”

Laughter broke into her thoughts as she picked up the empty pitcher from the table. Miliya waved to her over the crowd. Keiko returned the wicked grin as a patron snorted at the next table over. How many days had passed since he’d left her with the promise of returning? Maybe not even three days but it felt like an eternity to her. She was being foolish but missed him already. It had to be three months since she’d left her old life behind. She was even starting to reply to her new name. Was the old Keiko gone only to be replaced by Siaki? The name brought her joy when it was spoken by the silver haired fox.

How many nights hadn’t they laid upon her bed, him crying out her name? No words of love or feelings had been spoken yet. She liked to think she’d earned a place in his affections. They hadn’t been sleeping together long but what little time they’d spent together meant something to her. He seemed to enjoy it also so much that he came back almost every night for a repeat performance. Which was what was nagging her now. Shouldn’t he be back already? She’d heard whispers of the fox going to steal an artifact for someone. It was just rumors but she knew there had to be some truth to it.

The only thing that kept her from pulling her hair out was knowing the future. The fox would live for centuries to come and wouldn’t die anytime soon. Facts kept juggling around in her mind, would this change the future? Kurama had never mentioned knowing her in the past. So either her coming here was changing it or she actually meant so little to him that after her death here he would forget about her completely. That didn’t sit well, not now. She had loved him in the future and loved him now. Could she accept the obvious lack of impact she’d make upon his life? Was she just another one of his conquest in centuries of bed notches?

She hadn’t gotten him to open up about himself yet but had hope. Hope for a short future with the fox even one as his kept woman. Hope that the customer sitting at table number three would soon learn how to bathe. She grimaced as she strolled pass to carry the empty dishes to the kitchen. The chores helped to occupy her time until her fox dropped in. The cook greeted her as she set the pitcher down. “Do you smell something? Or is that a lingering effect from the parlor?” The rank smell of smoke and urine was enough to make her cough. Whatever it was, it was getting to her empty stomach. Perhaps everything smelt foul now and all she preferred was the crisp scent of Youko that reminded her of pine. Spending almost all her nights in his bed was playing havoc on her senses.

“Ye be right girl, something does smell amiss.” The fat man placed the large knife on the counter before strolling to the back door of the place. Keiko looked to see how much room was left in the heated water. Some of these needed to be watched before another wave of customers arrived. A high pitched scream and her head spun around in time to see the usually cheery cook fall to the floor with a large spear sticking out of his chest. The servant next to her roughly shoved her aside and rushed to the man’s aide. The noises began to fill the place all at once, coming from the parlor and in Madam’s office. Keiko shook in fear as the first man walked into the open door. He had to be over eight feet, having to bend in order to fit into the framework. She didn’t waste time to see the outcome.

Screaming propelled her to find help and into the parlor. The guards were now fighting against over dozen armed men. The women were running around frantically, those that weren’t already lying dead upon the once clean floor. Miliya came out of nowhere seizing her hand in a hurry. Time seemed to stand still as their feet found the stairs. Chaos was everywhere as they ran for safety. Out the corner of her eye she saw Madam laying in the hall, a pool of blood coating her chest and throat. “Oh gods, what’s happening?” Two youkai came out of the room the woman had used as an office, a large bag draped over one’s shoulder. It was a robbery, a merciless slaughter all for gain.

Keiko heard the scream of outrage as a black blur tore across her vision. She felt the air being knocked out of her lungs. The sound of breaking wood then the floor came up to greet them. A gurgling sound made her blood run cold. She didn’t want to look or hear the youkai that was standing at the edge of the stairs laughing at their misfortune. A hiss escaped her parted lips as she tried to move her arm. The pain centered in her shoulder, spreading down to her fingers. She managed to reach and remove the large splinter of wood. Blood began to seep as she righted herself upon shaky knees. Tears stung her eyes seeing Miliya laying unmoving, a large piece of railing sticking through her neck.

A cough ran through her chest as smoke began to fill the room. They were burning the place down after taking what they wanted. Her vision blurred as she got back to her feet, she had to make it to their room. If she was to die then it was to be there. With the ward in place she couldn’t leave the place that was about to burn around her. If the flames didn’t take her life then the fumes now filing her lungs would. Not to mention the large green man stalking her way. She could no longer see the one standing above. No one stopped her as she found the stairs once more. Her breathing was the only sound she could make out as she ran.

She found her door moments later as smoke swirled down the hall. It slammed shut behind her cutting out the horror taking place below. The heat was getting unbearable the longer she stood in the center. The blanket was snatched off the bed and placed over her face. How long before it ended? Three ways to die, which would claim her life? Would she die from flame, smoke or blood-loss? The pain in her shoulder was second to her lungs as the smoke seeped through the cracks. This was it, her death.

This had all started with a wish, one that had been granted. A slight smile appeared behind the sheet. She’d wanted to find out where she belonged, her place in life. Now she knew where it was. Her place had been by his side and she’d been a fool not to see it before now. Past or future she loved Kurama. Loving him had given her life purpose if only for a short while. She could go happy having known him. A single tear slid down her cheek as the world began to spin and everything went black.

She woke up feeling cold and sore but alive. Had she somehow managed to survive the fire? Wetness streaked across her face as her mind began to focus. The only thing she was sure of was that she was cold and wet. Her hand reached up to push a strand of drenched hair from her eyes. The pain made her wince, her shoulder was throbbing. It hadn’t been a dream but what was in her other hand? Something smooth was pressed into her fingers. She blinked at the stone now resting in her palm. Hadn’t it been in the temple?

Realization dawned on her as the rain pelted her face. It was late evening but why was she in the woods? Her eyes scanned the clothing, the blue dress hanging loose and torn. Some of the edges were black as if burnt. How had she escaped the fire? Was she back home? The need to survive made her stumble to her feet. Her body ached and she had to look like hell. The wound pinched as she took her first step. Where was she? The sky was blue so she was no longer in the Makai. She was back in the human world but what time frame?

Branches snagged her hair and palms, the pain went ignored. It was hard to see anything in the downpour. Just when she was ready to take a break and wait for help a large structure appeared in the distance. It was Genkai’s temple, she was home. Her pace quickened as she stumbled across the yard. Spots appeared as she tried to rush, please let someone be there. The place had never looked so sweet or welcoming. Lights burned in the place, someone had to be inside. Elation filled her seeing the large figure on the steps. Kuzuma was standing there looking in the other direction. Please let him look her way before she collapsed into the mud.

“Keiko!” Hearing him scream her name made her pause in her stride. He was real, she was home. With a new burst of energy she moved faster, towards the man running in her direction. Her foot slipped out from under her sending her to the ground. Her name was being shouted by others, she had to get up. The hole was stinging from the pressure of her weight as she lifted herself off the ground. As soon as she righted herself strong arms wrapped around her shoulders.

“You’re real, you’re real.” Tears streamed down her face feeling the warmth radiating from his strong chest. Voices she recognized called to her, this couldn’t be a dream. Somehow she’d made it back, back where she belonged. Another pair of hands gripped her shoulders sending her brain into overload. The pain was too much, the fingers were digging painfully into the open wound. Her vision turned red and her stomach pitched. Had she come home to die? Her legs felt limp as Yusuke whispered her name. In the thick haze she looked to the left to see the red hair standing behind Shizuru. He was here, she’d gotten to see him one last time. “Kurama,” the darkness that had brought her home surrounded her once more.

“You want to tell me why the fuck she called your name?” Yusuke shrug off the hand holding onto his elbow. He didn’t care about the people gawking at him. Keiko had appeared only to cry out to the fox before passing out. Genkai and Yukina were in there attending to her while they were forced to wait. His wife was in there injured and he didn’t understand how. “I swear if you had something to do with her disappearing.”

“I did not.” Kurama leaned against the wall unwilling to look the toushin in the eyes. No, he didn’t have anything to do with the girl being gone but he now knew where she’d been. The why and how were still unknown but he’d get his answers soon. When he’d heard her name being shouted he’d rushed out right behind Kuwabara. His shock and dismay had kept his feet planted to the ground. Walking towards him wasn’t Keiko but Siaki. Wearing the gown he’d purchased for her, looking exactly like the last time he’d set eyes upon her. How was that possible? Could Siaki have been Keiko? “I was as shocked as you to see her show up.”

“Dammit how long are they going to take?” Yusuke frowned hearing the door open and Genkai stepped out giving him a scolding look. “Don’t glare at me you old hag. How’s Keiko?” Please let her be alright. It hurt to know that she hadn’t noticed him being there but had called out for the redhead. It was his fault but the dismissal stung all the same. Where had she been for so long and how had she escaped? “Can I see her?”

“She’s resting and she will be fine. The wound wasn’t life threatening and has been taken care of. Most of her fatigue comes from blood-loss and whatever she’s been through. If she wishes to speak about it then she will. I warn you now, do not go in that room and show your ass. She’ll need time to recover. As to where and the why I can’t answer but I can tell you how.” Genkai tossed the stone towards the toushin. “This was in her hand. It was locked up in one of my chests, I’m not sure how she got a hold of it. Wherever she’s been that is most likely responsible.”

Keiko grabbed the hand resting on top her own. “Why do you cry?” The koorime was letting the stones hit the floor without care. “I’m fine and back, you needn’t worry Yukina.” Yes, she was home and felt fine. She was a little tired but felt alright. Genkai had healed her wounds and some of the fatigue had lifted as well. “Remind never to make any more stray wishes. Just deal with things as they are.” She smiled trying to cheer the smaller girl up.

“It’s my fault, I did it.” Yukina released the hand that felt too warm. “I felt the magic as I made my wish.” She could see the confusion crossing Keiko’s features. “I did it! I wanted him for myself, don’t you understand. You were in the way, as long as he was married to you. I stood there and wished you were gone. Then it happened and I was so scared. I knew it was my fault but I did nothing. I could have told them what happened but I kept silent out of fear of making him hate me. I took the stone and tossed it into the woods. I watched while he mourned your loss, knowing I had caused that pain. How can you forgive me? How can you not hate me?”

“I see, it was you.” Keiko reached for the cold palm fisted in the koorime’s lap. Guilt shone through the sheen of tears. “I’d always suspected Yusuke of having someone else but a part of me didn’t want to accept it. I don’t hate you Yukina. If you are responsible for what happened then I am grateful. Besides now that I think about it, it wasn’t your wish that sent me away. As soon as my wish came true I came home. It had granted my wish, see if it was my wish that brought me home then it would have to been my wish that took me away. There is no need for you to feel guilty.”

“But I didn’t tell them what happened when I knew. They searched for you and came back believing your were dead. I comforted Yusuke as he cried out of loss.” She was a horrible person, one that didn’t deserve the man she loved. “Maybe if I’d told Genkai she could have brought you home sooner. This is all my fault, I’m to blame.”

“Perhaps but you are being too hard on yourself. You and Yusuke should have been honest with me about things but I forgive you. I can understand how hard it is to be honest when you believe that doing so will hurt someone you care for. Yusuke isn’t the only one guilty of the act. If I’d been honest with myself then that wish wouldn’t have been necessary. Please, don’t do this. I am back and I am better than fine. Once everything is cleared up you and Yusuke have my blessing. Now if you will excuse me there is someone I wish to talk to.” Keiko gave the koorime a quick pat on the shoulder before rising.

The hall grew quiet as she walked out into the main room. Yusuke was standing there screaming at Genkai, it was good to be home. Her husband turned in her direction and took a step forward. Her hand lifted signaling for him not to move another inch. “We will talk later Yusuke.” Her eyes sought out green that was near the door. The fox stiffened when her gaze landed on him. What was he thinking? Had he known all these years whom she was? “Did you know who I was?” The question came out forcefully, emotions fueling the need to know.

He stood rooted to his spot unable to deny the truth. What could he say? Everyone was watching them wondering just what the girl was talking about. It wasn’t up to him to appease them. “I did not, not until just now. I noticed a resemblance when you got older but didn’t think it possible. I had no reason to believe that you were someone else. That happened to me over eight centuries ago and has become nothing more than a faint and almost forgotten memory. I hadn’t thought about it until you showed up again. That is the past for me, I swear I had no idea that you were her. Not that it makes a difference.”

“You’re right it don’t.” It really didn’t make any difference not for either of them. “Then I shall forget as you have.” She’d try even if it took the rest of her life. Shizuru called her name as she turned to walk into the bedroom. Yukina was standing at the door looking at her with interest as well. A startled squeak made her feel somewhat better as the door slammed on the koorime and those on the other side. The thick robe did nothing to ease the chill creeping into her soul. A forgotten memory, she’d told herself so but hadn’t wanted to accept it. She’d been nothing more than a quick fling for him, one of many. Three days had gone by and he hadn’t returned then for a reason. He’d had walked out on her then but she’d been too stupid to see it. An ignorant little girl hoping for something she couldn’t have. She’d been denied it in the future and had tried for it in the past.

More clients came in to welcome her home as she tossed the papers back on her desk. It felt strange sitting in the chair. The desk no longer gave any comfort as Shizuru laughed out in the salon. Tears threatened as she eyed the laughter through the glass. Two months and it wasn’t getting any easier. At least everyone had stopped asking her questions of where she’d been, what had happened. She’d been given a chance only to have her heart torn asunder. Yusuke had tried to deny his affair at first. He’d cried seeing she knew the truth but it was time to let go. To let go of her childhood love and the man she’d loved as a woman.

Things began to settle down with only two women left sitting while their perms took hold. Shizuru and Aiko were standing in the corner speaking amongst themselves. The silence gave her time to think. Everyone knew she was alive and home. Yusuke was now staying with Yukina at the temple. Shiori called her every evening but Kurama had went back to his hidey-home. She hadn’t meant anything to him in the past. Now in the future he just knew that he’d fucked his friend’s wife at one point in time. Eight centuries he said, a forgotten memory. Someone unimportant, just another whore.

She ran her hand through the short locks before straightening up her desk. A week ago she’d asked Shizuru to cut it and remove the dye. It took re-dying it back to it’s natural color to get rid of the blonde streaks. It was too painful to wake up every morning and see that image of herself. That name kept ringing through her mind. Youko might have lusted after Siaki but Keiko meant nothing to him. It was the best way to forget, to move on. The shrill of the telephone broke across the room, “Yukimora Designs, Keiko speaking.”

“How are you feeling dear?” Shiori’s voice came across the ear pierce. Keiko assured her like everyone else that she was doing great. “That’s good. I was calling to see if you could do me a favor. I just got a promotion at work and have decided to have dinner to celebrate. Shuuichi is spending the weekend with a friend and my husband is still away on his business trip. I tried to call Shuichi but like usual I get no answer. I know it’s short notice but I really don’t want to eat alone. It’s nothing that expensive, just a little dinner. Please say you’ll come, don’t make an old woman sit by herself it’ll be too embarrassing.”

“I guess I can make it.” The woman sounded desperate and lonely. Keiko agreed to make it on time before hanging up the phone. She’d have to rush home and get ready. Shizuru would lock things up so she could leave. Dinner would be great, she wasn’t in the mood to cook tonight. She also knew how much Shiori had been wanting this promotion. Shame her family wouldn’t be there to celebrate it.

The atmosphere was hushed as she was being escorted into the backroom. Shiori was pulling out all the stops it seemed. The waiter took her to a table in the far back over looking the park. He withdrew the chair allowing her to take a seat. The menu was already open on the opposite side, Shiori must have went to the restroom. She thanked the man and got comfortable against the leather. It felt strange wearing her own clothes after so long. The black dress was one she’d bought for her and Yusuke’s first anniversary. Another instance when the man hadn’t shown up for their dates.

Keiko looked up to spot Shiori being escorted towards their table. Wait she was coming from the wrong direction. She didn’t have time to ponder as the older woman embraced her in a tight hug. “It’s good to see you.” Shiori scooted over to the edge of the seat almost eating the window. “Am I missing something? Are we expecting anyone else?” Or are you scared of having a drink spilt on you? Keiko glanced around the room for any sign of the woman’s husband.

“Oh no, sorry. Shuichi returned my call at the last minute and said he’d come. I hope you don’t mind. There he is now, he must have went to the restroom.” She smiled seeing the look cross the girl’s eyes. She also noticed how her son paused seeing that they weren’t alone. This would do them both good. Now that Yusuke was out of the picture then her son could stop being a ninny and tell the girl how he felt. This was just a motherly push in the right direction. It meant being a little untruthful but they’d thank her in the end. “Look who decided to join us son.”

“Hello Keiko,” The greeting was forced between tight lips. He’d have to have a talk with his mother later. She’d gone too far this time. So much for her having to eat dinner alone. He could deal with half an hour before finding an excuse to depart. “Will anyone else be joining us?” He didn’t miss the way Keiko’s shoulders tensed and she didn’t bother returning the greeting. Was she still pissed over what had happened? Was she blaming him? He hadn’t know who she was but the other way around.

“No, you two are the only ones that agreed to come.” She patted the seat beside her and her son sat down. These two needed some serious alone time to talk. They could be happy if only they’d work out whatever was keeping them apart. “I hear the seafood here is excellent you should try some Keiko. I’m so glad you both came, I hate eating alone. So dear, you never told me what happened with the salon. Were you able to keep it after the divorce or did he get part?”

“That was debated but he gave up all rights to it. It was something he didn’t want, it was what I wanted. Besides the business we really didn’t have much else to split.” Keiko groaned seeing the way Kurama’s eyes glanced in her direction only to find something interesting out the window. So he hadn’t known about the divorce, why would he? He’d have to give a shit to ask about her. His disinterest spoke volumes, it didn’t matter if she were free now. She was surprised Shiori knew that the divorce had been finalized three days ago. Keiko had made sure not to blab her business to the woman. After all it was no one’s business but her own.

“That’s great, so what are you going to do about child support? I mean has that been planned out or are you waiting until after the babe is born?” Shiori saw the girl’s pallor drop a few shades at the remark. Was the rumor true? The girl Shizuru had been a fountain of information. More than she’d ever get from these two. The only thing she wasn’t clear on was who the child belonged to. Now things were out in the open and she could pretend to be the concerned friend over a divorced single mother.

“What makes you say that?” Oh, this was definitely bad. The redhead was no longer looking out the window. She could feel the heat of his gaze upon her skin. Okay, best to deny everything. She hadn’t told anyone about the baby yet. So there was no way Shiori could know. The woman was merely bluffing over something she’d guessed. “Why would you think I was pregnant? Has someone been spreading rumors about me?”

“I had a lengthy talk with your one friend. I called the salon yesterday and she said you were in the bathroom, again. I was concerned and asked if you were ill. She replied it was just a little morning sickness. I asked her if you were and she laughed it off. We got into a discussion about your poor health as of late. I took one look at you as I walked in and guessed.” Shiori was only guessing as to the girl’s pale skin and sickness. “It’s okay, I understand you not wanting to tell anyone yet. Just divorced and alone, having to raise a child alone. Makes me sad to think that a man doesn’t want to help raise a child that is his.”

“Yes, well I don’t have to worry about that. It was just a virus that’s all.” Definitely all, nothing more because she didn’t want to die. Could he glare any harder? Would he demand to know if it was true? Would he accept it if she were to tell him it was Yusuke’s? “Don’t concern yourself over my welfare. I’m not expecting I assure you. So, why don’t you tell us about your promotion.” The woman looked disappointed at the denial. Why would Shiori want her pregnant? There was no way for the woman to know that it was her son’s.

It was hard to listen to his mother speak to the girl as they waited for their meal. Was she pregnant? If so was it his? It felt odd even pondering the question. She hadn’t slept with Youko in over eight centuries but might be carrying a result of it. Though it hadn’t been that long for her. As soon as his mother excused herself he had a few choice words that needed to be said. Is that why the divorce had occurred? Because she was carrying a child that didn’t belong to Yusuke? His anger boiled as the minutes ticked on until finally his mother excused herself to make a call. If he knew the woman she was giving them a few minutes to talk alone. “Is it true?”

“Are you deaf? I just said it wasn’t. So you can stop your worrying. I have no intention of intruding on you. I wouldn’t have came tonight if I’d known you were coming also. As soon as it’s acceptable I will take my leave.” She’d leave and make sure never to speak to him again. At this rate she’d have to leave the city since Shiori was taking it upon herself to keep track of her. Another couple weeks and she wouldn’t be able to deny her condition. No doubt Shiori would eventually spread the news to her son.

“Good, it’s the last thing I need right now.” He didn’t want to sit around for months wondering if he was about to be a father. A child would mean constant contact with Keiko, he wouldn’t abandon his child. It would kill him to be around her but it would be done. Some of the tension eased from his shoulders. “Perhaps you should excuse yourself now and I’ll make your apologies to my mother when she returns. We both know this is her way of playing matchmaker. No need to give her any false hopes where we are concerned.”

Why didn’t he just grab that spoon and cleave her heart out across the table while he was at it? She felt the sting of tears, “You’re right. I’ll head out now, I hope you enjoy dinner. Tell Shiori congratulations for me as well.” It stung as he nodded but turned to stare out the window again. She was being dismissed, just like that. Her hand shook but she managed to withdraw her keys as she stood. Had she been brought back only to endure this pain? What was worse she couldn’t fault him for it. She hadn’t meant much to him then, how could she expect for there to be anything after so much time had passed? “You know, I don’t blame you. It’s fresh for me but so much time has passed for you. You had no idea who I was but I can’t say the same for myself. I knew who you were the second I bumped into you and I still let things happen.”

“Why? Why did you do it?” The question had been plaguing him since her return. He hadn’t known what she’d mean to him one day, in the past or the future. Had she done it only because she’d felt lost without much choice? It hurt to know she’d known him already. Why would she sleep with him willingly when there was a chance she’d return to the present? Was it only because he’d been a familiar face? Her reactions to him, the look that had once appeared in her eyes. She hadn’t feared him because she knew him.

“Honestly,” Keiko shrugged unsure if she could give him an answer he could accept. An admittance of feelings would cause guilt on his part. Just another complication that he didn’t want or need. Would he even care about the answer she gave? He had no feelings where she was concerned so it really didn’t matter how she replied. She spotted Shiori coming back across the room. She gave him her back but would tell him the truth.“I’d made a stupid wish and it was granted. I loved you here. Being with you there where you didn’t know about Yusuke or about what friendship we had at one time, I took advantage of it. It was wrong, I know that now. I saw a chance to be with you and took it. I shouldn’t have let it happen, that was my mistake.”

“What mistake?” Shiori caught the word as she came to stand beside the girl. She looked close to tears causing the older woman to become concerned. Had they worked things out? The tension in the air was thick enough to slice with a knife. “Are you leaving? Dinner should be here any minute.”

“Yes, I’m sorry I’ve got to be going. I made a mistake of agreeing to come when I have so much to do. Shuichi is here, so I think it’s best that I take off. Besides this should be a family dinner, I don’t want to invade.” She didn’t want to start crying before she made it out. She wouldn’t cry in front of him and strangers. “Please, I’ll call you later this week.” Keiko managed to give the woman a quick hug. She didn’t want to turn around and see the indifference that would surely be on his face. It was hurting too much just to walk away.

Shiori watched the girl walk out leaving her alone with Shuichi. As soon as the coast was clear she spun on her heels ready to demand why he was being such a pig. That girl was hurting and he was the cause of it. His eyes were glued to the entrance, unmoving long after she was gone. A deep sigh escaped as she contemplated what to do. “Do you want to tell me about it?” At his negative shake she continued, “I didn’t think so. Look, I don’t know everything and I’m not going to pry. I just don’t want to see you make a mistake. How long do you think she’s going to wait? The girl has been waiting for over two years Shuichi. It was understandable while she was married but don’t blow this chance. Go after her, don’t let her go.”

“It’s beautiful isn’t it.” Yusuke threw the rock counting the skips across the water. He’d found this place months ago while training. The natural hot spring was one of the many things left on Genkai’s land. The trees easily concealed the place from prying eyes. “So are you going to tell him about the baby?” It pained him to know that he was finding happiness while Keiko was still hurting. She’d been the innocent one in it all. Hearing that she’d actually become the lover of Youko in the past had been a shock.

“I don’t know, I already told him I wasn’t. I don’t think he’ll appreciate me lying to him. Besides it was so long ago for him. Eight centuries is plenty of time to forget about someone, much less hold onto to whatever might have been there. I know you don’t want to hear this but I was his whore, nothing more. I’m sure I was but one of many women he’d paid for on the side. He’d left without saying goodbye before the fire and my return. I’m not going to hold on, I can’t. I’ll need to do what’s best for myself and the baby. I’m not going to have a child growing up in a situation where her parents can’t stand to be around one another. I don’t want that, can’t you understand.” She didn’t want to cry again, she was tired of bawling like a baby. These overactive hormones had to stop sometime.

“I get you, I just don’t know if it’s the right thing to do. Shit Keiko, it’s for Youko not Kurama. You know what I mean, it’s going to be half youkai. You know it’s going to cause some questions when your child is born with fuzzy little ears. How the hell are you going to explain that to some doctor? You’ll be lucky if he doesn’t toss the kid against the wall and call for a priest. You need to stay close for the birth. Try talking to him, is that so hard? If I remember correctly you two use to talk all the time. What the fuck happened besides you going to the past? Hell I was jealous most of the time. You’d sit up with him for hours leaving me out in the cold. Why the sudden dislike of each other?” It confused him, something was wrong. Why would two people that seemed so right for each other suddenly start clawing at each other’s throats?

“I know I know, I haven’t really thought about that part. Perhaps I could speak to Genkai and she would come to me when it is time. That way no one has to know. Shizuru could run the business most of the time, she’s great at it. At least until after the babe is born but then I’d have to worry about a babysitter if I did want to work. But I could just keep my office locked.” She stomped her foot as things were showing themselves to be so complicated. “Bloody hell, ugh. What am I going to do? Be some never seen business owner and stay locked up in an apartment somewhere? Do you mind giving me some time alone? I need to think.” She plopped down on the plush green grass and sighed. Yusuke sensing her distress nodded and walked away.

What was she going to do? Shiori had stated at dinner this evening that she suspected the pregnancy. If she didn’t want to leave everything she knew behind then she’d have to confess the truth. How would he take it? He’d be pissed, she knew this. He didn’t want a child with her. She had no idea what kind of life he had. Before her disappearance he’d kept to himself, away from her. The Kurama she’d spent so much time with had grown distant and cold. He’d never explained why he suddenly moved away and didn’t bother to contact her. At the least she’d thought them to be good friends. But wouldn’t he have called or something? Her chest clenched and her eyes stung. She was going to cry again. It just hurt to know she hadn’t meant anything to him in the past and she meant even less to him here.

She closed her eyes willing the emotions to calm. She definitely had to be containing water, if not she’d have dried out from all the weeping. What she needed was to soak in a hot bubble bath. To let her worries melt away. She’d figure something out, she always did. If she survived being tossed in the past, sold and playing a whore there was nothing here she couldn’t handle. The image of fury filled green eyes made her cringe. Maybe everything but that. Oh gods, how was she going to be able to stand there and tell him the truth. Why did she even have to look at him when she told him? Couldn’t she just make a phone call. That’s if she could get his number. He’d seen fit to make sure she hadn’t known it for over two years now. Would Shiori give it to her if she asked? It was worth a try.

Decision made she looked at the sparkling water. It looked so inviting. Would Genkai care if she took a dip in the heated spring? There were plenty of trees around hanging over for protection. No one would see her unless they came right to the spring. Yusuke was the only one that knew she was here and he would most likely be returning to Yukina’s side. If he did come back to check on her she’d tell him to leave again. If he caught a glimpse, big deal. Not like he hadn’t seen everything before so faking modesty was out of the question. She really wanted to take a dip.

The black dress quickly came off along with the stockings. She tried to set the folding clothing on top of her shoes. It only took a minute of debating before the bra and underwear came off also. If she was going to go swimming she might as well go all the way. She made it to the edge before pausing, it didn’t contain flesh eating fish did it? Her big toe touched the surface rippling the smooth top. So far so good, nothing was attacking her foot. Now she was in up to her knees. The temperature was a little hot but felt wonderful. Yep, she could feel her bones melting under the heat. If only she had some bubbles it would have been great.

With a deep breath she dived underneath. It startled her slightly but she let it the water surround her. It felt wonderful, she’d have to come back here often. She’d need a soothing bath once she started handling things. First she had to severely scold Shizuru about commenting on her trips to the bathroom. Then she’d have to tell Kurama the truth, by phone of course. That way she could hang up on him and jump in her car if need be. She’d just have her things packed up in case he was too upset. If he threatened to tear out her throat she wouldn’t stop until she hit the next town. Then it would only be to throw up and refuel. If things went well she’d just tell him how things would be. She’d raise the baby alone, she didn’t need him. She wanted him to be part of the babe’s life but absolutely did NOT need him.

He’d made it clear though, he’d said enough tonight. It was the last thing he wanted right now. Probably had some hot chick shacked up with him. Instead of mourning her for the last three months while she’d been presumed dead he’d been off boinking some tart. She was shocked he was even at her wake, that had to have been Shiori’s doing. Put in an appearance to please the other’s right before spitting on her empty coffin. He hadn’t missed her in two years why miss her when she was forever gone? But she hadn’t been, he didn’t know that though. Why was she even stressing over it? She should be enjoying her swim, not worrying over him.

She hadn’t put a gun to his head and told him to fuck her. NO, he’d been the one to set up the arrangements. Not like she could have told him she was from the future and they knew each other there in his human form. He’d have thought her crazy. Her pregnancy was the outcome of their fornicating. She’d deal with it, it was her child. No one would have to know who it belonged to, except their close friends. Shiori need never know or whatever chick he had. She was financially set to take care of it. There would be some difficulties due to it’s heritage but she’d make it through. This baby was the only thing she had left, she wouldn’t get rid of it. She’d give it all the love and affection she held for the father.

She surfaced to take a deep breath. Water dripped down her face and into her eyes. They were no longer stinging with the need to shed tears. Fingers wiped at the moisture. She almost screamed when someone cleared their throat from behind. Instead she sank in the water before confronting the unwanted company. Her first thought was Yusuke had returned. Spinning around proved her wrong, it wasn’t her exhusband. What was he doing here? Had he not believed her story? Was he coming to fight? She really didn’t feel up to it right now. Not to mention she wasn’t going to admit anything to him in person. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to talk.” He found the words hard to say as she sunk deeper into the spring. The water was up to her neck already. If she sunk any lower she’d drown. It’d taken him three hours after leaving the restaurant to track her down. He’d called her home, then Shizuru, who suggested the shop. No answer there so he’d driven by to find it closed and all the lights out. Then he’d driven to talk to Kuwabara, who hadn’t been too happy. He told Kurama he had no idea where Keiko was but to go ask Yusuke who was living with Yukina. That had come as a shock to the fox. When had those two gotten together? The drive had been tedious and too long. He’d been elated to see the koorime waiting outside.

She’d told him that Keiko was there but had went walking with Yusuke. Knowing so had caused displeasure but the small woman hadn’t seemed upset. He’d met Yusuke half way during his search. The toushin hadn’t seemed pleased to see him and had told him to leave. All he asked was where to find the girl. Yusuke hadn’t wanted to part with the information. Still he wouldn’t leave until he’d spoken to her. He wouldn’t let the man stand in his way. He shouldn’t have let her leave the restaurant but perhaps that had been best. Her words had stunned him. Did she love him? Is that why she’d been so accepting of Youko? “Do you want to get out before you get cold?”

“No, I want you to say whatever it is then leave so I can continue with my swim. I think we’ve said all that needs to be stated earlier this evening.” She turned her back, dammit she was going to cry again. They had nothing to discuss now. If he was going to condemn her then he could keep it to himself. She wasn’t going to apologize again. Nor was she getting out, not when she was naked. Would he take the hint and leave? Silence greeted her, she could always hope. A splash caught her attention, “What?”

“If you won’t get out then you leave me no choice.” His jeans were soaked already, his shirt was getting there as he closed the distance. They’d settle things now, be it work things out or decide to part ways for good. She looked on the verge of panicking. “Don’t be modest, it’s nothing I haven’t seen before. It might have been centuries but I can still remember what you look like.” A look between shock and confusion crept along her features. Where would he begin? Would she let him explain himself? He’d hold her down until he said what he’d come here to say. “I was honest that day you returned. I had no idea you two were one in the same, how could I? I returned several days after the fire to learn that everyone had been slain and the place burnt to the ground. You became one of my many regrets. I noticed a small resemblance when I first met Yusuke but that was it.”

“If you recall that after Yusuke went to the Makai I did not see you during that time. It amazed me when I saw you at the train station that day. I watched you on the trip to Genkai’s that day, astounded by how much more you resembled a woman from my past. Yusuke returned so I pushed it aside, knowing that no matter how much you looked like her, she’d died long ago. You married Yusuke, what could I do? Except befriend you, there was no other course of action I could take. The more time I spent with you the more I wanted to confuse you with Siaki. Then the feelings began to return. This time it wasn’t just based on lust.” He placed a hand on her shoulder. She wasn’t looking at him, he wasn’t sure if that was a good sign. “I craved you as Youko, I fell in love with you as Shuichi. I left because you were married to one of my best friends, I would not interfere. Not when I wasn’t sure if all my feelings were real. For some time I assumed they were there because of the resemblance. Because you greatly resembled and acted like the first woman to touch my heart.”

“You have no idea how it felt to learn that the only two women I have ever cared for are one in the same. Yet, finding it out I was at a loss. I couldn’t understand why you let it happen. Or what to do about it. You may have been free back then to pursue a relationship with me but in this time you were taken. What could I do?” He wished she’d look at him, so he could try to see what she was feeling. Did any of this matter? Would she want to be with him? Could they move on from here? “Were you telling the truth earlier? Did you mean what you said?”

“Yes and no.” She wanted to bawl again. Here he was telling her that he really did care and she didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t be happy about it, she’d have to admit the truth to him. Not only had she lied earlier but had been keeping this secret from him since she’d gotten back. He wouldn’t appreciate it, no matter her reasons for doing so. She backed away from him, he let her go. He’d admitted things to her, a simple phone call was out now. It would be easier just to show him. With the black dress on it hadn’t been apparent. It had been snug on the top but flowed from the bust down. She’d been making sure she wore loose clothing for the last two weeks. It wasn’t too noticeable if one didn’t know just how slim she was. But he did, he’d seen her naked many times, he’d notice the tiny telltale sign. The water was now below her breast but she walked towards the bank. “I was being honest when I told you why I did things. But I wasn’t completely honest about everything.”

“You lied to me.” Anger flared seeing the slight curve of her abdomen. Why hadn’t he seen it earlier? He’d taken a good look at her, taking in every detail. She’d looked slightly pale in that black dress. It wasn’t obvious but he’d ran his hand along her flat stomach enough to know that she was pregnant. There was no excess weight on the rest of her body to explain it otherwise. She had to be over four months. “You are not large enough for it to be Yusuke’s and too far for it to be his. You knew it was mine and didn’t tell me.” She had to have gotten pregnant while in the past.

“Of course I didn’t.” She stormed out of the water. Her anger was the only thing keeping her from crying. “I didn’t know before I came back. Do you actually think I would tell you? You made sure I knew my place as soon as I got back. A faint and almost forgotten memory I believe you called me. Did you even care that I was still alive? At least the others appeared happy to see me still breathing. You just stood there acting as if it were any other day of the week. Then two months go by and I don’t hear anything from you. So you can go to hell. You want to stand there and spew bullshit about caring. Since when?! I seriously doubt you shed a tear for me when you thought I died in that fire. You left without saying anything to me for two years. No explanation, just gone. You didn’t care enough to miss me then. Fell in love my ass, you most likely saw the whore you used. And you got the balls to be pissed that I didn’t tell you. A child is the last thing you need right now, remember. Let’s not give your mother any false hope, does any of this ring a bell? I may have not told you and it’s because I refuse to depend on you. You made it clear already you don’t want me or a child.”

“Is that what you believe?” He treaded through the steamy water ignoring the way his clothes tried to drag him down. She was already reaching for her clothes. He wasn’t going to let her leave. She swung at him, not liking his hand catching her arm. The nails scraping against his hand didn’t phase him. He spun her around to force her to face him. “I’ve always wanted you.” He captured her mouth, willing her to give in to the kiss. The lips remained tight and taut beneath his own. Couldn’t she see, just how much she did mean to him. “It killed me to walk away for so long, I had no choice. It was either leave or do the unthinkable and make you mine. I didn’t want to hurt a friend, especially when I didn’t think the feelings were returned. I love you Keiko, do not doubt that.”

“I don’t believe you, I’m sorry. Your pretty words mean nothing. I know what I saw, I know how you made me feel. You were at my wake, I was dead to you and you felt nothing. Even when I arrived, I looked into your face. How can you lie to me? Don’t do this just because of the baby. I do not want false emotions or promises. I didn’t ask them of you before and I won’t start now. Just don’t tell me you care when we both know the truth.” Even now she couldn’t see any emotions on his face. He might have been reciting the dictionary for all the feeling he was putting behind it.

“What you saw was shock Keiko. Let me inform you of something.” He tightened his grip on her arm. “You were not dead to me. Your parents and Yusuke might have given up on finding you but I hadn’t. Hiei and I were searching for you up until that day and I only went to your wake for the sake of my friendship with Yusuke. Another thing you may ask Yusuke if you want but I decided that after you were found I would no longer be stepping aside for him. I informed him of this the day I found out you were missing. I wasn’t sure how to handle seeing you again. All I heard was Kuwabara yelling your name. I ran out to see Saiki arriving not you. Everything slapped me at once, knowing you were both women. Seeing you as you were, appearing in the gown I’d brought you. I knew instantly why you’d been gone so long. What emotion would you like to see Keiko?” He brought a hand up to cup her cheek. The smooth skin pressed into his palm. His chest swelled at the simplest touch. “Should I show you my elation that you’ve come home? Or my anger finding out that you kept something from me? Or my desire to take you, just to prove to myself that you are really with me? I have no idea how to proceed with you. Do I show you my hurt? Would it make you feel better if I’d shown you the pain I had to endure watching you with Yusuke? Would it have been fair to let my anger be seen when neither of you could understand the cause? If you want the truth Keiko, then look at me.”

His heart fell to his knees as she lifted her eyes to his face. The glossy sheen of tears were present, threatening to fall. “I’ve had to hide my feelings for so long. I believed that you would always love Yusuke, that there was no chance for me. It tore at me to spend time with you during the day knowing you were going to go home and into his bed. You have no idea how many nights I was tempted to kiss you, to see how you’d respond to my touch. The last evening we were together I almost let it slip so I left. I think you know which evening I’m referring to. I stopped by and you were making dinner. I sat with you until Yusuke called claiming to work late. I wanted to share your evening with you and not just dinner. To tell you that if it were me in Yusuke’s shoes I’d be rushing home. I don’t just want you for a lover, or because you carry my child. I want to come home to you. To know that you are waiting for me. I need to feel you in my arms as I drift off to sleep. I want you for my wife. I love you Keiko and I’ll tie you up if necessary to ensure that you don’t ever leave me again.”

He couldn’t be telling the truth, she would have known. It was too much to believe that he’d been wanting her for that long and she hadn’t known. He lowered his mouth, lightly brushing it across her own. The touch was barely felt, she heard this intake of breath. The lips didn’t move, he was waiting for her reaction. Fingers entwined in her hair as she returned the pressure. She gasped as his tongue came out to taste her lips. The kiss deepened, his mouth began to dominate hers. So many emotions rushed through stunning her. He broke away placing chaste kisses along her jaw. His hand caressed her neck, the motion gentle. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”

“You don’t have to apologize, I made sure you didn’t. I knew that if you returned even the minimum of emotions or lust that I felt I would have done whatever it took to have you. Part of me didn’t want just care, if I had you I wanted all of you.” He was thankful for the soaked jeans as she threw herself against him. She took the next kiss, sweeping him up in a play for control. A moan escaped him unchecked, her body rubbing against him being the cause. A hand was playing with the buttons of his shirt. “Stop Keiko, it’s been too long for me. I don’t want to hurt you and this isn’t the place. I want you, oh gods Keiko.” He closed his eyes as the hand cupped him over the jeans.

Keiko smiled as his mouth began to trail down her throat. The proof of that want was evident in her hand. She could feel the thickness straining to be released. Teeth scraped across her nape, raking the scar. He didn’t protest as she undid the last of the buttons. The damp shirt was tugged off of his shoulders. No time was lost before her fingers were on the button keeping the soaked material in place. The man sucking on her throat paused as it came unsnapped. The zipper went down allowing his cock to spring free. “Nothing underneath, I wasn’t expecting that. I took you for the silk boxer kind of guy. Do you always go without?”

“Yes,” the word came out hissed as her fingers enclosed around him. He was sure his eyes were rolling in the back of his head. This wasn’t the place nor the time for this. He didn’t want her to think this was what he wanted. Oh gods, he wanted it. He wanted to thrust into her body, to see if it was as good as his memory claimed. It took a lot to wrench his cock from her grip. She pouted as he took a step back but he removed the jeans and placed them aside. There was one thing he couldn’t recall, the way she tasted. He’d never bothered with the act until after he’d lost her the first time. His cock jerked remembering being shoved down her hot throat.

A tremor of remorse filled her as he sunk to his knees in front of her. Arms went around her waist forcing her feet to move. His cheek pressed against her stomach as he held her. What was he thinking about? “Are you still angry that I didn’t tell you?” Did he want the baby? The long hair tickled the skin but she refrained from laughing. His left hand came around to caress the small bump already forming. A kiss was placed on the rise as he shook his head in denial. “Are you sure? If you don’t want a family.”

“Stop, I’m sure. It was the last thing I needed at the moment. It would have bothered me having to be in constant contact with you and not being able to have you. It was the last thing I was expecting but it is our child. Though I’d like to know how it occurred. Madam informed me that all her girls took precautions against such things. Didn’t she give you something to take?” He placed another kiss on her stomach. Her fingers went into his hair as the next kiss was placed lower than the last.

“Um,” She couldn’t think with what he was doing. His mouth was treading lower and was now on the top of her mound. “She gave me some pills to take once a week. I wasn’t sure what they were for so didn’t touch them.” His tongue ran along the top of her sex. Heat filled her core, his hand was lifting up her leg. She blushed when he placed it upon his shoulder. Hot breath caressed her folds. Would he go through with it? Would it be like the time Yusuke had done so? She hadn’t cared for it then. “Kurama, I... oh my.” Her voice choked in her chest as the wet muscle hit her jewel. A hand skillfully brushed across the now damp petals. Two fingers pushed the folds apart to expose her clit.

He ran his tongue over the swollen nerve enjoying how she tensed above him. Nails were starting to dig into his scalp as he suckled lightly. His lips latched over his target, he went to work on heightening her pleasure. A finger pressed into her body, dipping into the wet heat. He almost lost it feeling the walls clamp down. Why hadn’t he tried this with her before? Her taste lingered on his tongue as she cried out. Her breathing picked up and he inserted another finger. She was as hot and tight as he remembered. His name slipped pass the parted mouth and he ended things. “Not yet, I want to be inside you first.”

She had no complaints until he seemed to be taking his time spreading his damp shirt on the ground. Her body ached for release. She didn’t care how they did it or where. He stretched a hand out to her after sitting down. She almost skipped into his lap, more than happy to oblige. The way there gave her time to judge the difference between his old form and this one. His erection was standing proud, waiting for her to climb onboard. It didn’t appear to be as long, perhaps two inches shorter but still nice. It meant not having to worry about it hurting if things got rough. She’d been sure Youko had been spearing her innards at times. The given was still at least three inches longer than what her husband had been. There wasn’t much difference in the girth that she could tell.

He let her climb over his hips, his legs straight out. His hands were placed at his sides helping to balance himself. He didn’t want to give into the temptation of pulling her down forcefully on his cock. Dainty fingers wrapped around him to guide the weeping tip to her opening. He knew almost nothing about her pregnancy. Was it a normal one? So many things they needed to discuss but right now the only sounds he wanted to hear from her were her moans as she rode him. His balls tightened in anticipation as she decided to tease him. He brushed against her tiny nerve and his hips bucked. Every nerve sprang to his cock as she rubbed it against the wet entrance, denying him what he needed. “Don’t test me Keiko.”

She smirked seeing him trying to remain still. Would he let her set the pace, take control? Her senses screamed as she began to lower herself down. One hand gripped her waist forcing her down further. He cried out once she had most of him embedded inside her passage. There was no other movement for his part as she began to move up and down. Her eyes closed and she focused on the sensations she was causing. It wasn’t enough, so she leaned back and placed her hands behind her using his legs to help support some of her weight. “Ah yes,” she bounced over him, impaling herself with each thrust. The tension coiled in her center with every stroke of him against her walls.

“Don’t stop,” he reached between them to run a thumb over the slick folds. His eyes were glued to where they were joined. He was so close, at this rate he’d find release before she did. The muscles contracted around him when he rubbed the jewel being exposed. His cock was stretching her open, the petals clinging to his length every time she lifted herself. There was no way for him to last much longer with her wrapped around him so tight. Her warmth was squeezing him, the liquid heat coating him as she quickened her pace. His name came out as a harsh cry as the first signs of release began. He moved to pull her against his chest, his mouth capturing the one moaning out her pleasure. She shoved her tongue deep as she began to contract around him. Her hips grinded as his cock started throbbing in time with the quivering walls. “Keiko.”

She held onto his shoulders as the last wave ebbed off. Hands were rapidly stroking her back as his breathing came in harsh pants. He remained semi-erect but she placed her head on his shoulder. A kiss was placed on her forehead. His weight shifted beneath her suddenly. “Mhmm, I don’t want to move. Can’t I just sit here for a few minutes?” She wanted to lay here and savor the feel of him so close.

“I’m afraid not. Seems Yusuke didn’t trust me out here with you. As far as I’m concerned he’ll never see you nude again. You belong to me now and I prefer if we went somewhere private. There is much we need to discuss and you will need some rest soon.” He ignored the snort against his chest. He planned on discussing things on the drive to their destination. Wherever they ended up he was going to make up for loss time before falling asleep beside her. “I suggest we head to your place for the night until we figure out where we are going to end up living.”

“No figuring about it,” She glanced up at his confused look. “My business is here and so is our family and friends. Not to mention I doubt your mother will allow you to take the baby to another city. Then again I have no idea where the hell you do live since you made sure I didn’t know. Thinking on it, where have you been stashing yourself for the last two years? Or is it still going to be a secret?” She didn’t want to move too far away. But if it came to it she would. Anything to be with him.

He smiled and almost laughed. “Actually I live only about thirty miles outside of town, I didn’t go far. I just knew your life so it was easy to be avoided. I have a three bedroom place that’s large enough for us and the baby and you wouldn’t be that much further from your salon. I never went that far Keiko.” He nuzzled her neck sensing that their unwelcome company would be there in under two minutes. “Get dressed now or I’ll have to apologize to Yukina for killing Yusuke. The sooner we leave, the sooner I get you completely alone. And I’m sure my cell phone has about a dozen messages on it by now. Shiori was quite insistent about me not acting like an ass. But you are warned, she’ll have you on the phone talking about wedding plans before the end of the night.”
