Hiei's love
A/N All characters here belong to Yu Yu Hakusho's makers and producers. I have no claim to any. Even though Shaleeza/Kaletta is not my own fully, just name and storyline. Hope you all enjoy it. I hope I enjoy writing it.
He sat alone. The world could do without him today, today was his time. Time to remember her. Once a year he allowed himself to think of her, to ponder over her fate. She was still out there, he knew it. He felt it. Everytime he came to this world, her presence called to him on the breeze. Coming to this world always meant that he felt her. Leaving without her caused him immense pain and sadness everytime he left the human world to go back to spirit world. From his perch, high up, he could see for miles around.
She had loved nature. An apparition of Earth. She had sat silently at nights, just listening to the wind rustle the leaves. He had agreed to even live in the human world, so she could be more comfortable. She had been his soul mate. The light of his life. Not even his sister would ever mean to him what she had. It was 359 years today that he had last seen her. Sure, she was still out there somewhere, transformed, waiting, but he finally had dmitdmit that he had given up all hope of ever finding her. He had found many woman that ignited his senses. He had said the words, kissed their lips. All had smacked him, leaving him to walk away in despair of ever finding her.
For the first 153 years, he had searched for her full time. Then it just seemed pointless after one woman slapped him and then kneed him in a sensative region. He didn't know if her mind was affected either, if she remembered him or forgot him, but at that point he had lied to himself and said she didn't matter anymore. Told himself that he didn't care that she wasn't here anymore. That he didn't love her more then life itself. He had moved on, mostly. Still, he always spent the 24th of October (by human calender) alone, thinking of her.
He closed his eyes, their final moments fresh in his mind. She had been tied up, magically, under a spell. Only her voice was still her own, and her eyes. He had been contained across from her, his eyes had held hers for so long, their minds connected telepathically. He had felt her fear in their communication. It had washed over them. Not for herself, but for him and their unborn child. He had sworn to her in those last moments that he would never rest till he found her and returned her to her true form, her and their child. She had told him that she would always watch out for him, strive to remember their love even with her min lon longer her own. Her last words to him "Even different forms and minds can not mask kindred souls."
They had entered then. The ones who held them captive. He had killed them later, read their minds as best he could. Gone through their paperwork. In fact he tore their homes apart. The spell, her whereabouts, could not be found.
The spell had been cast, a blinding light flashed, blinding him. He heard her scream his name. The pain in her voice had caused him to cry tears of fire. When the light faded, she was gone.
He opened his eyes and touched his face. A single black tear rested on his cheek. He wiped it away and looked at the moisture on his fingertip. He had not cried over her memory in a long time. Today was different, he couldn't put his finger on it, but he knew it was. He tried to contain the hope that had once consumed him, the hope that he would one day find her.
Miles away, a woman named Shaleeza opened her eyes and wondered why she felt like today would be different then normal. She tried to think why today would be different then yesterday. Sure, she was scheduled to go to the temple to talk to Genkai, the psychic. Her dreams had haunted her lately. She never understood them. She hoped that Genkai could take them away, let her return to her normal existance.
At Genkai's temple:
Yusuke looked up from an old scroll as Genkai entered the room, followed by Kurama. He asked the same question he had asked the others he had seen that morning. "Has anyone seen Hiei?"
Kurama walked farther into the room and said quietly "Hiei mourns for Kaletta today, he will be back later."
