Captured!

Kurama bolted upright in bed. A noise outside had caught his attention, and he turned to look out the window at the large Japanese oak tree outside. There was nothing there, but the fox didn’t relax. Nothing would ease Kurama’s fears that something was out to get him, that something was seeking revenge. He warily lay back down, and pretended to sleep, one hand closed around one of his precious roses.

Silence. And then, Kurama heard it again, the soft tap of a person landing quietly. He tensed, but did not move. His fist tightened around the rose, the thorns digging into his skin and drawing blood.

Time crawled, and Kurama felt himself unwillingly falling back asleep, his grip loosening and his body relaxing. Before he knew it, there was a hand over his mouth and someone was holding his hands behind his back.

“Struggle, and your mother dies!” a familiar voice hissed in his ear.

Kurama’s eyes narrowed, but he didn’t fight. Although he didn’t trust his captor not to kill Shiori, he’d rather not give him any reason to. He sneezed as he was gagged and his wrists bound. Still immobile, he let himself be flung over his kidnapper’s shoulder and carried swiftly through the city.

The demon stopped, and growled something that the fox couldn’t understand. A second later, he could feel himself being transported to the Makai.

As the youkai landed lightly from the portal, Kurama was dumped roughly into a cart and wheeled swiftly away. As the journey progressed, Kurama banged his head multiple times and eventually passed out.

The kitsune stirred, moaning quietly behind the gag. He blinked in the light that greeted his eyes, shaking away the spots in his vision. His head throbbed painfully from his cart-ride, and every muscle in his body was sore. As his vision cleared, he began to make out a tall figure, dressed in black, and with long black hair cascading down his back. He shook his head, positive that he was seeing things.

The figure turned, and Kurama’s fears were confirmed, two violet eyes laughed at him over a surgical-type mask that covered both mouth and nose.

Karasu prowled over, his hands in his pockets, and hissed, “Surprised, Kurama? You though you had killed me, didn’t you? Well, no such luck, fox. I’m alive and well, and quite ready for revenge!”
