The angst is really exquisite, and what's great is that your dialogue sounds so much like what they'd really say that I can hear their voices. Hiei, being desperate to dominate Kurama in order to keep him "if only for a moment" (that was incredibly hot, by the way), and then feeling bad about it just -kills-. And of course, Kurama, being him, gets to be all understanding about it.... I love the dynamics between them. I also really wonder how this is all going to fit into the secret mission that Koenma needs Kurama for.

I'll definitely try a fanart if I can =D

By the blessed winds you LIVE Metranome! I had wondered for the longest time whether or not you were still around or if you had just given up on the fandom entirely. I am so happy to see a sequel to one of my favourite fics! You have no idea ^_^. I am also a little envious as I have not had the time to finish up Trials of a Youkai's heart... That fic's been a W.I.P for about 2 or more years now... What can I say, my spare time is like zero. However, I am glad you are keeping your passion alive :hug: Drop me an email some time eh? I haven't talked to you in forever.
Oh, and just so you know, the server I had my former email adress at died, so it's bchan_the_dream_weaver@yahoo.ca now... if you ever get the time to drop me a hi ^^;

I really like how Hiei is hating to be uncertain and confesses to Yusuke what he's worried about only after they've sparred. It's very in character, especially the quips from Yusuke. I'm dying to find out what this new mission from Koenma is going to be about. You're an awesome writer!

Good job getting me back into reading YYH. Keep in mind that to a certain extent Hiei opened himself to the possibility of change in "Once Burned." I don't see this as OOC, but rather an evolution of character. Please continue!

I know I sound like a sputtering fangirl when I say this but: I AM FLAILING BECAUSE YOU'RE WRITING A SEQUEL TO ONCE BURNED SJHDFOSLJFHOSBFDLBSL. *dies*

Seriously though, I adore your writing, and Once Burned is one of my faves of all time. You continuing this just made my year!

I like that Hiei is having doubts, and I also like how he doesn't know if Kurama will grow old and die in human form, or if he'll be able to live on. That's something that - in reality - is up in the air. I'm sure there isn't a plethora of youkos who take over human bodies, so Kurama's future is definitely unsure. And the fight between Hiei and Yusuke? Very well done. I love the verbal jabs - charcoal breath was amusing - and the fighting as they spoke. Poor Hiei, he doesn't really know how to channel his feelings yet, and I doubt he's going to just speak to Kurama about this.

And I loved this line: He belonged where the sky raged always with storms, and the wind carried the scent of blood and battle, and his every waking moment was one of danger So pretty. I can't wait to see more of this!

I'm so excited to see another story from you! I know I never fully reviewed "Once Burned" and for that I apologize. But I loved it, and I am loving this sequel so far. Sounds interesting. And your summary at the beginning has me completely hooked. Kurama/Hiei are mmy OTP and you write them so well.

About the IC part - you gave our guys enough experience to grow in "Once Burned." I would not expect them to start this story in the same character they had in the anime/manga. You wrote a convincing tale of their growth and change, so even if they seem OOC from their canon selves, they are IC for your universe. I really think the fanfics that take the characters and grow them and change them in a believable way are the best-written ones. To me, that's the beauty of fanfic. So write on with confidence, and I will read on with the same.
